Awesome video! You had some amazing shots. I was on it two years ago. It definitely took me back. In Painter Basin, we had a deer that circled our tents all night. The spot you camped below Anderson Pass is used a lot by outfitters and people packing in with horses. I took the Unita Highline through the burn section. It was a nightmare, at one point I had to regroup, check the map. I was off trail by 1/4 of a mile. Other told me Jack and Jill was much easier. Good stuff 👍👍
I wear those exact same Olympus Altra shoes almost daily. I pretty much only wear Altra Lone Peak shoes hiking and trail running. When I do the Uinta Highline, I will most likely be wearing my Altras as well. Great shoes! We also use the exact same watch. I love it, but I need to get one of the solar ones though for long treks like this.
I like my altras but will be switching out to a pair of topos next time around. The durability is just so bad on my last few pair of altras. But they are really comfortable. Thanks for watching!🍻
Dude this is my backyard and my dream ! I don’t think my back can handle it though . How do you not have more subs ? I just found your channel great stuff!
Such a fun trail. I can confirm that the UHT is just as bad, if not worse, than the Jack and Jill trail. Did it last August and it was turrible. There is a 3rd trail that skirts even higher than Jack and Jill which is likely the best option. All Trails recommends that one. Probably adds another mile or two but stays even higher in elevation. Thanks for taking us along. One of my favorite trails and will do it again this year.
I used AllTrails on my desktop to tailor my route. Just broke it up into 6 days. I recommend studying the map a little and tailoring a route that best fits you. Thanks for watching!
One night while up Death Canyon in the Tetons I had my Zpacks tent set up with my hiking pole cork handle down. I woke to a porky about 24 inches from my face chewing on the handle. The rangers had warned us about them. Said they really liked the sweaty waste bands of backpacks. We heeded the warning and hung our packs but I never thought of the cork absorbing sweat. Only make that mistake once
I’m hiking this solo next year. Very excited! Thank you for a great video! Would you be willing to share your itinerary for this hike? I too am flying in. Are there any hostels near that offer shuttle services? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I was lucky enough to have a friend in SLC who drove me to the East end. But I’ve heard there are shuttle options. I would say study the map or goggle earth and plan your route accordingly. It’s a relatively hard hike IMO. Having your own plan is key. Thanks for watching! Good luck🍻
"amazing"...yeah, I think that sums up the views you shared. Dinner alert at 27:05 ! Well done and amen to the leave no trace comment! Be safe.Oh yeah.....ouch to those toes!
Man you got lucky with the spectacular weather. Some of the other Uinta's vids I've been checking had nasty storms nearly daily on some trips shown. Usually later afternoons it seems. So I'm wondering what week you did this trek? Hoping for some of the same decent conditions. That a Z-Pack pack btw? Shopping around for a ultra lite pack right now and kind a narrowing it down to a Durston 40/55 or a ULA Catalyst so far.
I went the last week of August. I anticipated some nasty storms but yes definitely got lucky. I used my Z packs arc haul. But just bought the Kawa 55 from Durston so I’ll be s swapping that out. For me the Z pack is great but it’s like a wet noodle when it’s empty. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!🍻🍻
Yeah that pack looks sweet. Will go great with your tent setup too. My buddy has one of those and he loves it. Thanks for the quick response. Cheers.@@BackcountryTreks
Great content! So inspiring. I did my first backpacking last weekend in the Lusk Creek Wilderness in Shawnee after watching your videos. Now feeling inspired to something more challenging like this one you posted. Do you remember how much your food weighed for this trip?
An incredible solo adventure across Utahs tallest most remote mountain range. No drone shots were taken inside wilderness boundaries. 🍻
Loved this video, thanks for sharing. Mad props to you shuttle buddy for showing up with some post trail beers!
Thanks for watching! 🍻
Masterful capture of nature at its best. Fantastic content.
Thank you for the kind words🍻
Thanks for including the Leave No Trace comments. So important to keep nature natural!
100% 🙌
That Durston tent! 😍😍😍
I'm very inspired by this. I trek around the Mirror Lake Highway often and getting my body in shape for this one day!
@@mtbikeutah Awesome! Thanks for watching 🍻
Beautiful video, man! What a vast incredible landscape.
And damn straight about the trail runners ;)

Planning another trip to the Uintas this coming summer - did some of the Highline a couple years ago. Very much looking forward to going back!

Makes me wanna go
Love the video...planning on doing this next august. Can you show me the exact route you took and what you used to plan it? Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words. I think my food weighed around 7-8 lbs.
@@BackcountryTreks thanks
If you decide to hike this trail and have any questions feel free to ask. 🍻
@@BackcountryTreks will do! 🙏
Curious about your food since being on a high line.
Did you do a hang, ursack, bear can or just sleep with your food.
I used an ursack. I never sleep with my food. 🍻
@@BackcountryTreks ya I hear ya. People on the Colorado Trail will sleep with their food over a certain elevation. Freaks me out.
It’s all fun and games until a critter chews a hole in their expensive gear. Or worse case a bear comes sniffing around when you’re sleeping. 😬
How do you prep meals?
@@jl4608 I typically dehydrate my own meals and vacuum seal them. Then rehydrate with boiling water. I also bring lots of high calorie snacks.
Nice quality mate! What's your camera?
Thank you 🍻 I used my iPhone 13 and a DJI mini 2 for the drone shots.
@@BackcountryTreks dynamic range is fantastic!
Phone cameras have come a long way!
Which OR shirt are you wearing in this video?
I believe it’s the echo sun hoodie.
I normally clap my hands loud when I hear little steps...
These were BIG steps.
The animal licking your pee at night was likely a bighorn sheep. They like the salt
It sounded much larger than a bighorn but that is a possibility I didn’t consider. Thanks for watching 🍻
