Super Mario Advance 4’s World-e is essentially its own new Super Mario game, essentially like being the “Sonic Mania” in concept, being that there is something from EVERY mainline platformer up to that point, and the levels are unique and based on said games, even from Super Mario Bros. 2/USA, and some in-game data reveals that there was supposed to be some extra content from SMW2: Yoshi’s Island as well, but that all was sadly cut.
Why'd the Porcupos get their palette changed to look more like Sonic the Hedgehog? Being able to throw the boomerangs is my favorite detail from these levels. It's like a precursor to the boomerang suit from 3D Land.
From exclusive power-ups to challenging puzzles, these levels showcase Nintendo's commitment to delivering fresh experiences even within beloved classics.
The GBA SP was my first ever console, with Advance 4 being one of my first games. That special island with the locked houses, the empty castle…it had always intrigued me, but I could never find a way to do something aside from enjoying the music there. Years later I found out (thanks internet) that there was something called e-reader cards & that those were what had kept this special worlds secrets from me, but finding a way to obtain them, especially after so long….not a goal in the realm of possibilities. When GBA Classic came to Nintendo Switch Online, me and my brother, after 20 long years, were finally able to play those stages for ourselves. To see the craziness and crossovers that Nintendo filled them with. It was quite literally a childhood dream come true~
I think _technically_ all these items and enemies are cross-overs with the other Super Mario Advance games, although these are obviously largely based on the SFC versions. Hence the giant turnip. My guess is all SMA games (besides Yoshi’s Island) were developed/ported on the same engine which made such custom levels with legacy gameplay features from SMA and SMA 2 easier to conceive and include in SMA4. Mario’s plucking ability really makes one wonder what could be possible with a Super Mario USA theme in the next Mario Maker.
@@JacobNintendoNerd99 Sure, I meant all the comparisons made with other games in the video, which are made with the SFC versions instead of the more recent GBA versions. For example, the porcupo comparison made me curious whether the porcupos had already seen their color changed in SMA (and the answer is no, SMA keeps the Super Famicom palette, only slightly brighter).
@@chazmaru9583 Yea! I’m so glad SMA4e is widely available. It feels like a culmination of the entire Advance series and a sequel to Mario 3 we otherwise wouldn’t have.
