Wrap your wire poles with plastic wrap if you make a twist on the "front" it will make holes for the plants to root into but also provides moisture retention while you are using them. Cheapest fix I have found.
Been down all day and in watching you for 5 minutes I’m already feeling better. Laugh when you keep saying “Oh my gosh” wish I had half your energy. Love you and your videos. Good luck with the poles, I’m watching!!!
For the wire moss poles I leave the wire flat and zip tie a piece of thick plastic on for the back. It uses up the wire and holds onto moisture much better than a full wire pole.
✂️🪴 You motivated me to tackle some majorly postponed plant chores while watching you and I finished right when the video ended. Thank you for the dopamine hit 🔥
The way you look pissed at yourself for all the moss poles as you keep gathering them, lmaoooooo! I just did a chop and extend on my adonsonii this evening actualy. I feel so much better. Edit: the way you speed up singing to yourself, lol, so cute.
I have so many plants that need a repot right now. Summer growth was phenomenal. My pole plants became floor plants, next time it will have to be all chop and extends on my pole plants, I’m scared 😳 😂
Hey fern! Just some advice with the wire poles, shaping them into more of a half circle pole shape before putting the moss in will make it a lot easier to close and shape them after you put the moss in:)
✂️ interested to see how Verrucosum chop and extend goes without removing moss from the bottom section of the pole before planting (another very annoying step!)
Initially I felt a little inadequate when I went straight for the plastic poles vs. the super DIY wire mesh situation 🥲 I just knew I don't have the patience to make the wire mesh ones 😄 So I completely get you when you say you are thinking of switching all your plants to the plastic ones. The only downside is that they are more pricey but then again you don't really have to do any of the work plus most brands offer discounts if you buy a few so there's that😇
Two things I gave up in this hobby: wire poles and MOSS. I’ve switched to Rousseau poles with Molly’s Aroid Mix in them and it works pretty awesomely (is that a word?) ✂️🔨🛠️⚒️🔧🪛🪚🗜️⛏️🪓🔩⚙️⛓️
✂️ I’ve been very much slacking on my plant chores lately. I have so many repots that need to get done! This video motivated me to hopefully get those done this weekend.
You can cut about 4 to 5 inch wide shelf liner and zip tie it to back of wire pole it helps keep it moist longer. Or if making new pole put it on the inside😊
Hi Fern, I've been hooked on your videos lately. I saw something and thought of you. It's a self watering moss pole! You use PVC pipe in the center then wrap moss around it & use rope as a wick to absorb the water & keep the moss wet. It might be sturdier too because of the PVC center but I'm not sure. Anyway happy growing 😊
So pleased you advised against the wire poles, I despise them. And stuck with the closed back poles, makes life so easy. Well done with getting them all done, and with minimal drama.. well apart from the leaf, which I’m sure will result in something positive ❤ great job you. ✂️🪚
I'm curious why you don't construct your rousseau poles or the other plastic poles laying down while you fill them like you do your wire poles. I use the Rousseau poles and make a coco chip core surrounded by moss, then buckle them up. I swear they stay damp longer with the coco chips.
I give you credit sticking with those wire poles. I would wait for the other to come in you can always use Thiccly poles, but they might not be the size you need not sure. I just bought the Medium size 3 and it’s a front pole.
✂✂✂ would love to see how you water these and prevent from overwatering the soil! Imma look back at your old vids to see if you've already covered this ❣
Fern, your work ethic is great! The way you pushed through the day shows how dedicated you are to your job! As a viewer, I appreciate your hard work! 🫶🏽✂️
✂️🌱 Hi Fern!! Love how you persisted and stayed on track even though it got more challenging 💪🙌🙂 Very inspiring 💜 Have you ever considered removing some of the moss from the new bottom part of your chopped poles to change it for potting mix when potting them up? Thank you for sharing
I love the way you make the videos. You don't get the feeling that everything is played strictly according to the script. This distinguishes you from a lot of UA-camrs. Stay that way. Best regards from Germany 🪴💚
Oh fern…that looked like a crazy day 😂 definitely not gonna do wire polls, but I’m glad we now know the difference lol RIP to your carpel tunnel, hope it feels better soon; love you lots! Xoxo 🪚
I’m getting some bonsai scissors. They are reputed to be some of the best. They are small with big handles but you don’t crush the vine or where ever your cutting.
I’d cut off the cebu blue so you get rid of the vine pat if it. Then plant the top part in the soil. The roots in the pole will support the plant while it tries soil roots at the bottom of the place where it was cut off. I watch Melissa @plantsbymelissa do this all the time.
I’m so with you on the wire poles, they dry out so quickly and are so annoying to make! I did find it was easier to get them to be round if I zip tied them up and shaped them before putting the moss in, idk if that helps. The last time I made one I literally got a friction burn on my hand from the pliers!
need this to get me into the mood to deal with all the plants i chopped and haven't extended... or combined.. or dealt with in like a year LOL least they were well rooted into the poles and the life support water i give them is keeping them alive xD
I do my mosspoles with a wire on the front and a plastic sheet backing - it is still a lot of work to craft them, but I actually enjoy the process (with gloves and patience) 😊 but I don't have many plants on moss poles yet... My biggest problem is my available crafting space 😅
Hey. I'm curious as to why you don't construct and fill the closed back poles before extending? I'm a novice when it comes to moss poles and I'm trying to understand if there are benefits to doing it your way or simply personal preference. Your videos are amazing and always cheer me up. 💚✨🌱
The domesticum variegata struggle is so real, most of the time I wanna throw mine off the balcony & my hope that it gets it's stuff together is wearing thin, same sentiment as for Florida Beauty ☠️
@@wildfern yupp, I had two FloBes and first 5-7 leaves on each had perfect, marbled and balanced variegation, then they suddenly started going either full green or full yellow 🫠 I wanna love domesticums & FloBes so bad, but all I get from them is grief 🤕
I’m still putting off my moss pole extension been doing it for about five months. It’s leaning way forward to the right and needs an extra tension too. I will have to unpot first, straighten out, repot upright, and then add the extension. Whew. It wears me out thinking of it. I don’t have anyone to help me and at 4’11”, and a four foot monstera, it’s almost my size 😮
🧰 Fern, could you do a timelapse of your living room? I've seen timelapses of plants and I like how the leaves are constantly moving around I think it would be really cool and interesting if you filmed one in your living room and we could see all the movement! Just an idea.
I really love your Philodendron - Red Anderson. What a beauty!! The bigger it grows the larger the leaves. Wow!!! Love the Philodendron - Majestic!!! Love the Philodendron - Glorious. Mine is just a baby. Can't wait to get bigger leaves. I absolutely love the Verrucosum. Sadly, mine died. The leaves are the most beautiful I have ever seen. I hope there is going to be a spooky repot this year. I always look forward to these!!! ❤🖤❤ 👻🛠✂
Hahaha ok the only benefit is they’re cheaper. But man I’ve just started to slowly buy closed back poles and swap out my wire ones bc they’re so much easier and like you said, retain moisture for longer. They also just look nicer to me and I like that I don’t have to stuff stray roots back in the pole if they start to make their way out 😂
Hi Fern! ✂ I read on Gabriella Plants website that the P. paraiso verde variegation is affected by light, temperature and seasons. I love your majestic and verrucosum; they are both so gorgeous! I wish I had room to grow those big leaf plants. 😞
Fern or anyone, how often to you water your moss? I’ve reallyyyyyyy gotta get on top of mine. I’ll be on top of it for a little while then say to myself “I’ll water them later” and never do. Maybe if I kept a schedule (I say schedule loosely) or should I say an idea of about when to water but not wait until they’re done dry, I’d do better with them.
Mother is feeding us 🙌🏻 🌱 😊
🍽️
💜 We're so grateful, meow.
🔧🪴✂️🪴🪚 "Friends don't let friends make wire moss poles" 😂😂
For Fern and the algorithm 🙌🏽
Thank you 🥹🥰
Loving the jazzy music you've been using lately, very cozy!!
Ah thank you!! 😊

The sun is shining on the Jose Buono. Making it glow.

What a huge job well done ❤your plants are looking beautiful and I'm sure they are just going to love having the extra room to grow🥰

My all time favorite plant Goddess🥰🌿💚Watching while I cook 😊
Have we gotten 4 videos this week?? 💚💚💚
💚💚💚💚
Yay, I'm always so happy when you post. You doing plant chores motivates me 🧡🌿
Me too.
Yesss posted just in time, now I have something to entertain me while I fold laundry🤣 thanks for always helping make my days brighter Fern🥰
omg samee u & me both doing laundry w/fern 🫶🏽
Omg you look so cute with that hairstyle 🥺❤
✂️ your work is inspiring!!!☺️💚🌱

Video idea for you fern! All velvet leaf plants! Or a favorite characteristic of plants! I love your videos :)
Hey fern! Just some advice with the wire poles, shaping them into more of a half circle pole shape before putting the moss in will make it a lot easier to close and shape them after you put the moss in:)
That’s such as satisfying sound when you pull the plastic off.
✂️ interested to see how Verrucosum chop and extend goes without removing moss from the bottom section of the pole before planting (another very annoying step!)
Me so happy you said you’d water prop the double leaf cut! I was sitting here in suspense hoping you wouldn’t let it go!!! 🖤
get a puzzle mat :P they roll up so you can keep the puzzle safe and store it
Watching you do the moss pole on the red anderson with matching nails was very satisfying

Fern you may have to get a Barrina T10 full spectrum 4 foot vertical grow light for that Red Anderson🩷 They are fantastic!
I love your videos so much, they're so relaxing
I need to deal with moss poles too, but I keep putting them off 😅 SO much work, so little energy for all of it 🫣
Your soul is literally a piece of art. I hope you live yourself just as much as I love you. Just perfect taste , everything really.

Fern I just love watching your video, I wish I could meet you in person you have some a fantastic personality.😅
Not even ten seconds in and just holy cow girlie you are gorgeous and stunning🫶🏼🤭
OMG your domesticum! I bought one because of how pretty yours was and I fell in love with it. Hopefully the props give you variegation to restart.
Another video!! Christmas came early! ❤
Love these long videos. Love watching your page for plant inspiration!
I only fill out my poles with moss a little past where the plant is grown. It's easier to keep the pole wet and I add moss as the plant grows

I love your hair and outfit today!! 🫶
You should’ve removed the moss from the bottom of the wire pole before potting it up because it can cause root rot( I mean the verrucosum pole)
🔧🪚 this was the motivation I needed to extend some poles of my own ❤️
I've been subscribed here with you for a few months now- and I really love your content

Yo what's up Fern it's Jason I hope you're having an incredible Sunday love this video your plants look amazing hope your dogs are doing well😂🙏💯💯💯👋
I needed your videos this weekend before I go back to the real world
I enjoyed this video. I have no moss poles but I examined some of my baby plants 😊✂️

Great job Fern. Must feel good to get all those done 🔧🤗
I’m curious if you’d do some videos focusing on education with some of your plants and the care/ differences for instance of the glorious vs gloriosum
Thank you for the video Fern 🙌🏼
That seemed like alot of work, wow! I felt the pain of the wire moss pole right there with you, ouch! 🌱✂️

gracias , un momentito de tranquilidad en una vorágine de locura, gracias.
No problem, thank you for watching 😊🌿
The pole has resistance against the moss. Thats why it stays closed better.
I have to post these ✂️😂 great job! I also prefer the plastic poles as opposed to the wire mesh poles!!
Hi Fern where do you order your moss from I live in Ontario thanks
This is inspiring me to finally stop neglecting my collection. Buying a house has left me exhausted with everything
Yesss!! Go Fern, go!! 💪🔱🪄

Curious. Why preference for back versus front close?
With me the water leaked out both the
front and back closures.
I believe you can use the miracle gro on your outside plants
Every time I extend a pole, it becomes so wobbly! I can't tell you how many times they topple over...such a pain.
