Another great video! I love hearing the real camera sounds as things go.
Just got back from a hike with my Retina IIc and Mamiya 645. Excited to watch this video. 😃😃😃
Whipping out the old Kodak tiny tripod. Amazing
I got one of those, I should try it. Sam Abell had some amazing photos of shaker village.
That camera reminds me a lot of the Voigtlander Vito CLR camera I have.
Late to the game for commenting... My son found one of these at a garage sale about 10 years ago. We had it serviced at Central Camera in Chicago and shot several rolls through it. As you pointed out, your copy has shutter issues. Very good review. Not the sharpest lens -- agreed. Not the fastest to point, focus, shoot -- agreed. But is it a neat camera to slow down and take a few snaps -- Yes! Printed at 3 1/2 X 5 or 5X7, it's not too bad. If the negatives are scanned and put through a little Lightroom magic, you can get very nice prints.
Thanks for the field test. Retina series cameras are often overlooked by film photography beginners.
I think the lens is better than you think it is. The slow shutter was probably your biggest problem as you mentioned. The Xenars were typically a Tessar design where the Reomars on most of the least expensive Retinettes are the triplets. Even said, those Reomars are better than any other triplets out there. I own a few higher end Retina IIIc and IIIC models with the Schneider Xenon and Rodenstock Heligon lenses and they rival the best lenses ever made.
Go for a good CLA on the camera and you won't be disappointed or look for a IIIC in good shape.
I definitely want to clean it out and get it to peak performance. It’s mostly a matter of when I can get the time.
It would be great if u make a video on Kodak cineon curve...
That takes specialized equipment that hasn’t been available for a long time
Very nice video! Just a suggestion; it would be nice to lower the volume of the music. It is loud compared to the audio of the voice. Just my two cents…. By the way, The Xenar is not a cooke design. It is a four element lens, comparable to a Tessar. Enjoyed your video very much. Thanks!
Chest rig is an incredible improvement to the video content. Keep up the great work!
Does anyone know why videos on these old Kodak cameras are scarce?
woah. You were in my neck of the woods!
Harrodsburg or Danville?
@@TheNakedPhotographer Nicholasville
Ha, I live in Nicholasville. Watch my Kodak Reflex II video. I’m walking around downtown. And you’ll definitely recognize the location I’m printing in my upcoming video this weekend.
@@TheNakedPhotographer I'll check it out for sure. Somehow I missed your that you live right around the corner in past videos. If you see a weirdo with a Wista 4x5 taking pictures one day, it's probably me haha.
I’ll wave
Unfortunately Chris Sherlock doesn’t repair Automatic Retinas.
I know. I’ll have to do it myself. Fingers crossed and all that.
