- How to load an upright piano onto a piano trolley using one person safely.
Our piano shifting service pricing and overview: www.pianomagic...
We recommend you always use a professional to move pianos because it can be quite risky. The average piano weighs about 300kgs - so it can do some damage! We've been moving pianos for over 45 years.

By far the best video I have seen.
Great information/video. Moving an upright clearly as easy as it looks. Thanks.
Gday Gary I just used this method today to move a piano and it worked a treat thanks for the video mate
He is really strong ;)
Watched lots of these videos
This is the best
This Video was produced in Perth WA by Gary Bailey's Piano Magic for the APTTA WA Conference "Keys to Success" please share this with anyone it may help.
Thank you so much, was exactly what I was looking for.
Perhaps also make sure there are no pets underfoot that you might trip over?!
It's called - working smart.. Thank you for sharing.. Portugal..
Thanks.
Wow! Informative and super impressive.
It looks so easy! My 1880’s piano weights around 400 kilos
! Can I still use this method?
вряд ли оно столько весит ...
Two of use cannot lift our upright even an inch!
How are you doing this?
Great share - movers would have you believe it takes magic and pixy dust to move a piano.
I'd like to see you move one 🤣
@@movers9165 Okay, I will take pics and vid if possible this Sunday, moving a 1900 relic. Gonna be dicey.
@@theplinkerslodge6361 😂 No thanks I believe you. Either movers or home owners are in this video comments. I'm sure you got a few tricks up your sleeves
@@theplinkerslodge6361 actually I wouldn't mind seeing that. I'm will subscribe to your channel 😜
If you can talk that ease while holding a piano the cabinet weights just 100 lb
You are very strong! How would you suggest moving it down a flight of stairs
You make up a box that is the size of the step. Use a Trolly under the piano. Best to have axle Center’s of 440mm. Then walk it down moving the box down each step. You need to be brave and stupid. I did one piano up 14 steps one never again. Have lots of help.
Sounds fine by me. Tested it just now. Recorded on an iPhone. Sorry your having a problem.
You know...one of my coworkers and myself tried to move a piano today and we couldn’t do it. It’s kinda shameful that this elder man can do that on his own. To our excuse, we had a pretty cheap and small moving vehicle.
You're also a quitter
Hi Gary Avesome video
I am a Removalist my self (Melbourne )
And I have a question for you
Do you tie piano keys to the wall or back to the wall?
Thanks a lot
This depends on weather you take the piano off the trolley or leave it on. I personally have a system that takes the piano off the trolley and I tie pianos against a support. Up to 4 backing up to each other. So I tie on the key bed with a flat ratchet strap.
Other removalists leave the piano on the trolley. They put a wedge block between the wheels of the trolly and tie from low back of the piano over the key bed with the fall closed and back the other side. Use lots of carpet packing. If you don’t have a good proper piano trolly don’t use this method.
Looks like it was just a piano shell.
Used this method today on a full piano and it actually works
how many pounds is that piano ?
Hi. I think that piano was a Gors & Kallmann and they weigh about 200 KG so about 450lb. I think conversion is about 1kg to 2.5 Lb
Conversion is correct
Do the action and moving parts of an upright need to be secured for an very long distance move? Thanks.
We move upright pianos up to 1000 kilometres and we don’t secure the action parts. However we do put packing foam under the music desk. The fall and top lid. The vibration will mark the polish. Please do not use bubble wrap it on the polish of the piano. The vibration will cause tiny rub points on the polish. Use a flat strap to secure it above the fall. Careful not to break a moulding on the plaster. I back my pianos against a frame and strap them around the key bed. I use the trolly to hold the bottom of the cover in place and tie that up against the piano. Be careful no to put pressure on the truss. It only has one screw holding it to the toe of the piano. Hope this helps. Gary
@@garybaileyspianomagic3765 wow super helpful reply. Thanks a mil!! Very kind of you
Will it works for going down a few steps?
If you have steps to negotiate I recommend contacting a professional piano moving service.
They have the ramps and knowledge to negotiate steps.
Super!
Good Boy
👍👍👍
Can you just push it down the steps? That's a joke.
Hello either you are a giant and strong as ............. a Greek God ...... or we normal people are toooo weak ! ! ! !
This was absolutely reckless allowing that dog to be walking around for both dog & the mover... Lock the damn dog up when you're moving 500lb objects.
Be nice to actually hear it....volume please
There is a volume button on your computer or phone, it should get louder, as long as you know which button to press...
