Hello. if possible please list the materials used and maybe the links to buy online. This process does not look so difficult to DIY for us who are far away from you. Thanks for a great video. Gorgeous results!!!!
Yes, these repairs are very difficult. If your sanding isn't good, the scratches will show and you won't have a mirror-smooth surface.bSome of the items that you see, available from alliedpiano.com and also schaffpiano.com. These are all made by Konig Finishing, including their special cabinet scraper. 641-000 polyester filling lacquer 170-001 hardner, though any white benzoyl peroxide (bondo hardner) will work 100%. 215-000 black dye, usually their "intensive black" will match most pianos. 406-000 special scraper, the Konig cabinet scraper. It differs from a traditional cabinet scraper in that this one bends. Not for use on white polyester because of the amber color of this polyester resin. For whites, go with a water clear polyester - Tenaxo is suitable - and use a white UTC that matches. Konig's Rex Lithe is their version of a knife grade polyester, fyi.
Hi Gents, impressive work and effort. I believe others asked about details on materials used for this particular job? I am not asking about 'products' but generic description on materials as products are different US vs UK. In advance to your answer, thank you .
I have just received a used piano which is in otherwise very good shape but there are a couple of minor chips which a lot of people would call "character" but I would not. "Character" has meaning and because I don't know what caused them, they are just minor damage. Your kit (poly resin and dye) is VERY large and I suspect expensive. Are there smaller such kits? After that, I definitely follow how I can easily fix the two "character marks." Honestly, I could probably get some high gloss model paint to touch it up and practically no one would notice. I would, of course. I'd rather see it filled in and polished smooth.
I have some new chips on my polyester finish on my Schafer & Sons approx. 2000 piano I need to repair, we were mounting a ceiling light that fell on top of the lid and caused 3 chips in the polyester finish that I need to fix. The color/stain is walnut and is fine. I need to build up the polyester fill to be level. What products did you utilize in your restoration? I saw your comment post with Allied Piano (I'll call them) but if you can provide, that would be great. This piano is my baby and I really need it restored perfectly. Thanks.
I bought a Suzuki digital piano that needs some TLC, but I got it for a price I could afford because of that. I assume the finish is polyester? Any advice on how I would know? Awesome videos, thanks!

I have a “new” black polyester piano that was a floor model (the only one available…) that has lots of faint scratches and swirl marks that are only really visible in good light but it’s driving me insane. Would a series of sandings and compound buffing like you did towards the second half of the video be enough to basically re-polish the entire top panel of my piano that has all these swirls?
...aren't almost all pianos "floor models"? Getting a piano you've never played sounds like a terrible idea. I've played plenty of the same model line and they all sounded different. Anyway - did you end up doing anything to it? Mine is "new" too but has literally been in the showroom for 23 years, so it's got its scratches. I wouldn't do any of that on my own though!
do you know a company that can do this in Utah (Salt Lake City area). I have a 6" 7" Kimball Grand Piano, black Polish finish which has cracks in the polyester all around.
On pianos in America they're using polyester made by either Ilva Polimeri or by ICS. To use polyester over a precat, it's best to strip off or grind down the precat. Or lay down a coat of isolante and build your polyester on top of that.
I have a black grand piano that I converted into a keyboard shell for traveling. Some glue got on part of the side of the shell, and I tried to remove it with alcohol, and now I have a hazy smudge area (similar to the way your piano looked in the middle of the video--streaks and smudges). Would simply using a buffer and wiping with the spray liquid you used fix this for me?? What was the spray/liquid you used, by the way?? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Although it was a great video, the finished portion is not the same area that you showed us from the beginning as being damaged. You showed us a corner that was damaged that you had to champion, but when you said that the material had dried, you showed us a long strip on the sides, not the corner that you had filled with the material.
This is the kind of content I'm here for.
Nice technique with beautiful results. Thanks for the tutorial.
Can you provide a link to the product used?
Of course this is excellent work. I would personally prefer to see the sound board and keyboard covered while any work like this is carried out.

Wow, that's pretty darn amazing! Looks great!
Great video! In the future, you might want to consider paining the bare wood/veneer black before you pour the poly fill.
Hello. It would have been great to have the list of materials or the links to buy them online. The results are just great. Thanks for the video.
You can find these products at Allied Piano. Especially that Koenig polyester.
@@Hammondbrass Thanks

Where can we buy the kit?
Greatjob! How much do you charge for this job?

Great job, but what if you have a vertical repair?
Would shining a light on the repair show imperfections? Is it possible to do a perfect repair?
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge! One question: what's the polish brand?
What is the shelf life of the polyester fillers you use…..can you recommend the brand?

Thanks for your video, What kind sender did you use where did you buy and the some sandpaper ? Thank you very much.
how can i buy equipment , paint , can you tell me what kind is needed to do this ? Thanks
I've got a little dent on one of the black piano key lsd and wondered how to fix it? I wondered if black shoe polish would work?
I think the most difficult part is to get the right colour after mixing.
Hello. Great video. Could you please tell me where to buy the poly repair kit ?

How can I repair my piano finish in the vertical upright position? Any tips? Thanks.
How do I fix a chip that is intact? Meaning the the chipped paint fits like a puzzle. On polish white piano.
Se puede utilizar otro color?

FAST TOOL POLISHING SYSTEM - STEP 1
Did anyone ever get an answer on the resin kit used?
What if the repair has to happen on a corner that cannot be placed flat?
Hi ,What brand name polyester is it?
what type of polyester is used on pianos? what company makes a good product and last can it be applied over precat lacquer.. Thanks.

What kind thw chemical used?

What is the spray
This is probably why my piano is in transit for longer than the max estimate.
Are those products toxic?. Can you do a repair at home? Or would you need to take the piano to the shop?
you cutt the end...why???
Is there anyone doing this repair work for customers? And how they charge for it?
Usually by the hour. $150 an hour or more. Materials are expensive and they have a limited shelf life.

What if you mixed the incorrect tone of black in the filler? Would it stand out?
It will stand out as a color mismatch, usually a tone of gray by comparison.
Where can we buy the kit?
