Damn, you looked so fricken good. They may have cardio, but you definitely had better fight iq and technique. You were able to observe their patterns and use superior bjj.
Been training mma for 5 years now and watching these videos is a huge learning opportunity and inspiration for me. I have no intention of being a pro or even amateur fighter just like the competition in the gym and the work out. These breakdown videos are so good keep them coming!
I thought the same when I started, but now that I became a little bit better I'm so excited to do a few amateur fights. Not to make a living, just for the adrenaline and competition, conquer a few medals and stuff.
Your pacing and understanding of your body is honestly underrated. That's just something that comes out of experience and wisdom, and a lot of young fighters tend to not understand pacing as well.
4:43 What I really don't like in mma sparring is that when I pull my high kicks right before they connect people catch them on their head and sweep or take me down. It does force me to get some extra grappling in but it still feels cheap. You ain't catching a full speed high kick after it connects.
True, I found that turning my hips down, pulling the leg out of the catch and throwing a side kick while running away does the trick most of the time as long as you are not near the cage or rope.
Just follow through with your kick at a controlled rate(I use my knee to do this mostly). Your kick would be respected and it’d probably help hip strength if anything.
Please don't fast forward the grappling. I really love your grappling and it helps me see how you defend, scramble, attack etc. I REALLY appreciate your grappling. It's a part of mma. This is coming from a black belt in tkd and kyokushin and I'm fairly a noob to grappling.
Love your transparency and honesty you're the only fighter I watch that shares so much insight and an inside look into fighting. Keep up the good work we all will continue to watch you on your journey.
Dayummmm Jeff. You always post amazing content and this one was no exception. It’s insane how quickly you can make reads on opponents and adjust your game-plan to win. I also love how “3 weeks off” Jeff still whoops everyone in the end. Gonna go work some of those sneaky combos now
That first guy was really good, considering he's only 21 years old (maybe I'm just impressed because I'm 21) but once you figured him out, the difference in diversity was insane. He was really good at a couple moves and once you adjusted, it looked like it was hard for him to adjust
@@virityrealtual3831 MMA prime Is way different than a boxers prime. Boxers usually start boxing at a rlly young age(around 10-13 year old) and even then most boxers reach their prime at around their late 20s or early 30s. MMA fighters are usually people who focused on one Martial art/Combat sport when they were adolescents and then learned starting learning different styles into adulthood. Which is why a lot of MMA fighters most dominant years can usually be in their early to mid 30s. Mainly because youth MMA is more or less illegal or barely ever done.
i just had a sparring session yesterday with a guy who wouldnt stop throwing hard ass punches, caught me with an uppercut while i tried to move in as he was atleast 3 inches taller than me, ended up with a bruised up eye and face, all good tho we continued the round, right after the shot. Once we were done i just told him that going so hard makes no sense, we aint preparing for a match or a tournament, we are just having fun lets focus on our footwork and technic.. we are still intermediate begginers, we don't fully know how to roll with the punches etc.. why go so hard brotha? im glad you put the second to last guy in his place, dude doesn't realize he's wearing smaller gloves and he could easily break someone's nose with that uppercut that he threw. fucking hell people go on a heavy bag, release your testosterone and come and spar like a human being also love the vid and your content keep it up
I feel ya....I was sparring an idiot who was going full power (he actually hurt me even when I was blocking with boxing gloves) and he had the audacity to tell me that I am going too hard, after I decided to match his power. Some people are just idiots with too much ego and they just want others to be their punch bags. It's a tough one because they either force you to ask them to take it easy (making yourself look like you can't take it) or go as hard but it can turn ugly, especially when they can't take it.
@@panostsak the thing is the guy told me before the sparring session that he has a hard time controlling his power.. i was like okay i ate shots before even had my teeth broken and a nose fractured... how bad can it be, however controlling power my ass he didnt even try to hold back. He was on the younger side even though im 22 myself i believe be was 18 so i just took it and let him work but i made sure to explain stuff to him afterwards.. whether it got through to him or not aint my problem. all i know i wont show any type of respect next time. sometimes u just have to go rough and hit them as hard as they hit u to teach them a lesson.

Having said that, I don't do sparring myself, but I do agree with Jeff, high guards and shelling has to be less healthy for you in the long run, the force of the impact is still transferred to your head, also this guard can incentivize a go forward or stand your ground kind of style, and that can make the issue even worse.
