I recognize James Burton in Black & White Nlte of the 1980s play @ the Ambassador in L. A. CA immediately!! Was a special & Roy Orbison & many more Bruce was also there just Great as tonight tks for posting this is talent.
The legendary James Burton was humble Country Gentleman and a superb guitarist who could play R&R, Rockabilly and everything in between. With all due credit to the fine R&R lead guitarists who were influenced by Mr. Burton and went on to become famous, some of us geezers heard him "way back when" on TV as the guitarist in Ricky Nelson's band on "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet." (Many of those episodes can be seen on UA-cam.) [P.S. We miss you Ricky, David, and your wonderful Mom & Dad,, Ozzie and Harriet. R.I.P. all. For many of us the 50's were The Real America and the Nelsons were America's "other" First Family, along with Pres. & Mrs. Eisenhower. It was a different time and a different world - and I really miss it.]
the true Master of the Telecaster......the one thumbs down is suffering from no sense of common sense and a lack of hearing......James has the ultimate respect of every Tele player and count me in there.....no loss of chops and like aged irreplaceable fine wine both James and the fine wine just get better as time ages them.....I greatly enjoyed this priceless performance video and thanks immensely for posting it and highlighting the immeasurable and unduplicated talent/chops of James on the appropriately JB custom painted hot and firey flamed Fender Tele
Mr. Burton gave me his plek in about 1996. Right onto my hands. I am so proud of it. It is a treasure. God bless one of the best guitarist in the world.
You all are watching a guy who's 80 yrs old play live in a professional setting... incredible! Doesn't sound like he's 80 does it?! He's the reason I use finger picks with my electrics and why I play Telecasters ... this guy has played the hook on countless hit records One Iconic guitar player
Back in the Day! The great Scotty Moore & non other than James Burton were the Two guys that really established the Rockabilly, James was smooth as Glass
As a James Burton fan, has anyone noticed he plays over the front pick up on the tele now, which to me doesn't sound quite the same anymore!! (Love you James xx!)
Nice guitar and a great player - I owned one of these back in the mid-2000s; very versatile guitar, perfect for country bends and playing but could also rock out when needed too. A great blend of Strat and Tele features, so it'd be hard to find a more versatile guitar that Fender has made.
This is great! Thank you for posting! I got the great opportunity to get to have a session co-produced by James Burton when I was 14 after winning a competition in my hometown in Louisiana. I recently posted a video of it on my channel, ("The James Burton Session") as I am currently getting ready to do a big release of my music. I learned a lot from him that day, he's a really great person. All hail the founder of Rock n' Roll!
@@nora1976able Thanks, Vidar. Burton plays it beautifully, and in a style I don't associate him with. A reminder to me of the broad range of his talent.
Each time I see Top 10. Lists of Best. Guitarists and they’ve left f my two favorites - James Burton and Luther Perkins - I know the reviewers must be in the neighborhood of 12 years old. James Burton! I still see that handsome man standing behind Ricky Nelson. There is no Briish Invasion without them. Just ask Keith Richards.
It must have been 15 to 20 years ago now, i saw all Elvis's backing band, here in the UK, some English guy was doing Elvis, i wish it had been the real Elvis, I couldn't believe they where playing at an old picture house in my own town..
Brilliant man magic fingers
James' dynamics is still superb at his age. Spectacular!
