i want to rebuild the solenoid.i have it open,i want to some parts for that seperately, springs plastic piece under disc etc.or do they just get ya for a whole solenoid?
2006 Impala LT 3.9 automatic. No crank no start. All accessories work when key is turned to run position but starter will not run. New battery and cables, all fuses and relays work properly. There is power from the ignition switch to the starter and engine is not locked up. Starter will run off the car but, not on the car. Could you please help a senior citizen out. GOD bless and thank you so much for your video
have someone turn the key while you smack the starter with a mallet ( not hard so as not to break the case but hard enough to give the motor a chance to turn )if it cranks the starter is still good but needs rebuilt. take the starter out and bench test it it may be magnetized or a low spot on the armature
I used the parts cleaner for degreasing. Then used electo-clean on the armature and field coils. As long as the insulation is good on the wiring it should be good to go. If you are worried blow it out with air and give it time to dry.
Thanks for the video. I think I am going to rebuild the starter on my 73 Camaro (350) myself. Do you recommend a particular rebuild kit over others? Thanks again.
I apologize for taking so long to respond. I honestly don't remember which rebuild kit I used. This was my first time rebuilding one, and the kit came from RockAuto. I believe it was my only option. I tested it beforehand at the auto parts store I worked at, and again afterwards. The completed project works flawlessly and the amp draw was considerably less than before the rebuild.
Thanks for the view and comment. Probably what I meant. I've picked up a tripod and use my phone these days. Still learning but it's fun to make videos in my spare time.
That's very nice of you, thank you
You are very welcome

Check your ground straps, Battery to the frame, frame to the engine block. also Neutral safety switch...

Darn good video for a one-man, one-hand phone cam vid with very little editing! TYVM!
Thanks for the view.
How did you clean it with the parts washer without getting the inside wet?
