23:58 The Final Song... Truly a beautiful song not only about Zero. But her journey and her sisters throughout the events of Drakengard 3. I still think this is my favorite song of all time in the entirety of the Drake/Nier universe and it's still just so beautifully done. The fact is incorporates Kuroi Uta within it is just icing on the cake for me. 32:12 - Snow in Summer. I love this song. When I first started playing Replicant and heard this I knew I was in for an absolute divine treat. It's so melancholic and I just love the feeling it represents at the beginning of NieR it's the perfect beginning and ending, 37:24 - A Beautiful song. Yeah, it's beautiful and tragic and that's what makes it so beautiful. 1:0:12 - Two's Song. Lol this one was funny because with Five's, four's, three's, etc. It all has that goofy singing opening but when it gets pass all that it's just absolute bangers. Drakengard 3's soundtrack is so underrated and needs more love! [Three's is my favorite tbh[ 1:27:28 Birth of a wish/Become a god - Lol, loved your initial dialogue leading to this song. I love this song especially when fighting that karate machine ontop of that one roof top since when I heard boss music playing for that guy my heart stopped and I was to afraid to touch the guy! Either way I love this song, it's so good. This cannot continue, this cannot continue. 1:34:38 - Blu-bird. Yeah, hearing this song in Replicant really wasn't enough for me to like it. It was hearing it in the NieR CD drama where the JSDF were trying to contain the Legion [silly nier lore moment lol] That actually made me really, really appreciate the song since it felt so perfect for that instance in the CD Drama, the song fit FLAWLESSLY. It had the tension, fear and so on. There was no Grimoire to save the JSDF against the onslaught of the salty legion marching out of the Walls of Jericho. 1:46:20 - Ashes of Dreams [English] Yeah.. This song hurts, just in general. Especially when you find out the remastered version of NieR Replicant's Shadowlord has a full on orchestral section where it plays a slowed down version of Ashes of Dreams, it just hits so much harder emotionally given the context of that battle as a whole. Just after Shadowlord it made this song hit so much more for me. 1:52:39 - Song of the Ancients Fate. I love it. That's it. That's all there is to it. The journey to find the verses. Love it. 1:58:08 - *Shadowlord* [Gestalt version] - This song. I just wish I knew, how to best describe my opinions and feelings of it. I really love the Final Song. But Shadowlord just has such a deeper, emotional, connection. It's a song about misunderstanding. A brother. A father. Humanity. Sorrow. Hatred. Regret. It perfectly symbolizes NieR Gestalt/Replicant. It's perfect. The fact in this version I feel the chorus is a'lot more haunting. It just feels so much more powerful than it's remastered counterpart [The remastered one is nothing to sneeze at either[ But just something about the original version just. God... I love it. I love everything about it. The emotions, tension and the feelings it gave me during this moment. Best boss song i've ever heard in a video game still to this day. 2:18:42 - Growing Wings - Literally just insanity the song, that's it. In all seriousness, the japanese version I feel is so much more emotional and so on. But I do like the english version. What I really like about growing wings is it's about Furiae. Caim's sister. It's just so beautiful I really like how the strings are in this song as it goes in and out of both ears. Makes it very disorientating kind of like the game itself lmfao. Either way I figured i'd comment on my favorite songs that speak the loudest to me and have the most emotional weight for me. I hope you have a great day Marco and thank you for your videos as always! Always a great watch after a long day of work, lol.
King shit right here. Ashes of Dreams is the best morning coffee song with maybe to see the sun rise but also having a joint with your coffee to vibe the best.
The 'moan' in Two's song is an in-game vocal for the cutscene. Every sister has a different vocalization before their song start as intoners, save for Zero. Songs are their power after all. It's not actually included in the OST. The coolest probably is Five's song as it blends smoothly than the other sisters'.
Second that, Five’s is easily the best one. Tho tbh hers has the benefit of being the first time it happens so it sticks more in your mind, it blew my mind the first time I watched that cutscene.
Now I want to see him react more of drakengard 3 songs. I wouldn't say they are necessarily overlooked, but they are definitely a different kind of odd in comparison to the nier songs
I missed this but I DID catch the hidden gems stream. I love Drakengard 1's music because it's chaotic and intense and scary. It invokes such a feeling of doom, there's no hope at any point. It's wonderfully frightening IMO. I kinda like it MORE than later Drakengard/NieR music because it has such a unique style. A lot of it is clips from classical pieces clipped together and looped into this chaotic discord. You hear it and immediately know it could only be Drakengard.
Sadly wasn't there live, but still happy that i can listen to it later, i love this game so much. thanks for making this stream even if it probably will get claimed, you made my day !
Without spoiling things too much. Drakengard 3 has a stronger focus on songs as a theme and that means some songs have certain meanings especially in how they start out. You listening to the final song probably left some questions that could be answered by further listening.
Personally, I think it's one of those songs that isn't quite complete without the scenes that it accompanies. Watching the 'fight' and the dialogue at the end really hit hard. In any case, the song left an impression in me, that I immediately recognized it upon hearing the chime sound at the end (I was randomly fast-forwarding) But *uck that rythm minigame😂😂😂
@@spearsage A lot of the songs in Drakengard 3 are like that. All of the sisters' first boss themes have really nice transitions with the singing in the scene warping and distorting to be the opening of the song. Armaros' theme (The Upcoming Battle) in particular is amazing with how smooth the shift is.
Wish I could’ve been here to watch this live. I love seeing live reactions. Also, Kuroi Uta is just too good. I’ve never played the Drakengard games, but I learned of the lore and music after looking into NieR lore. I hope the Drakengard games get remastered or something one day to I can play them.
Ooh boi, i wanna let you hear Drag-on Dragoon/Drakengard "1" of the ps2. This music is horrendously disgusting but after playing the game so long. I've come to embrace that 2 second loop. Edit: As a side note, you'll definitely need to listen to a video game known as, "Limbus Company", mostly the artist I want you to react to is Mili. She's been doing music for a very long time, and has such a unique music to itself.
NieR’s OST is astounding. While not being the most complicated of soundtracks every piece has purpose, love and care into it. This soundtrack really defines emotions as not only music but an artform. NieR itself takes the crazy and most interesting parts of human nature, theories that are most weird to look at, the purpose of life and the Beauty behind all of it and the emotions surrounding them. And keiichi okabe only defies expectations with his music, so much that he created music so emotionally attached that his music won more awards than yoko taro and his game did. That is honestly astounding in its own right since it takes so much to seperate the game from its music. I have so much appreciation towards both Taro and Okabe. I’m an artist, I draw I cannot write despite my influx of creative ideas, I cannot create music but I listen to so much of it because it’s something I appreciate. Because I can only draw, I have to learn and appreciate what I cannot do in turn. We have to appreciate Emi Evans as well. She created the chaos language itself. A fusion of languages that harmonise to a much Much more diverse audience. While we can’t understand what the chaos language is saying without proper research the language itself still resonates within all of us. Let us appreciate Yoko Taro for his crazy worlds, ideas and love for the morally grey, Keiichi Okabe for not only following Taro through everything but being such an amazing composer and understanding the world that Taro has written, and Emi Evans for being such a wonderful singer and creating this fantastic language.
@MarcoMeatball so update. They don't know what's wrong. He's been getting itchy. But itchy enough he's hissing and attacking himself and not well. They messaged us with news. Will hear soon. Wish him luck.
Coming around late to this but I'm so glad someone threw in an Intoner song in there, they're so different from everything else in the Drakenier verse.
I was waiting for you to do a Nier focused video ever since I discovered your channel since it's my favorite game and OST. Absolutely beautiful story, characters and music, they managed to create such a unique, atmospheric SF game unlike anything I've seen before
First found your channel about a year or so ago listening to your reaction to Kaine Salvation as well as a bunch of other neir songs, and it is awesome to see you about to hit 200k! I know you probably do most of your requests from patreon but I was surprised to see you hadn't reacted to the Made in Abyss OST. I assume that's primarily due to copyrights but it would still be awesome to hear your thoughts on the songs (particularly old stories). Best of luck on continuing the growth of your channel!
Keiichi Okabe is the author of the music and is truly a genius person. Taro's games and the stories he tells (with the spinoffs and some novels, manga, etc) are gruesome to say the least. And at the same time it resonates so well with the Okabe's music. Together it makes a very remarkable experience. It's not as popular as many other video games obviously and nowadays people just treat it as "lol 2b butt" but I wish more people would at least appreciate the music, it truly deserves it. I think Taro would agree at least semi-ironically because he can be really critical or even bashful towards his own stuff, but his respect to Okabe is immense. Also just wanted to add that I have chills every time I listen to "This Silence is Mine". You are right about it being visceral. The culmination of Drakengard 3 with Zero's demise is pretty much what this song is about, she was a shit person and a murderer, she's seen a lot of truly horrendous shit (like captured and mutilated teenagers from a resistance group against a local feudal) and hated the world, was dying, got cursed, killed her off springs to save the world, got killed herself. While the game is a tragicomedy with lots of hilarious conversations, the background, story and lore of it is nothing to make fun of in my opinion. And this song reflects it.
I'd like to recommend the "15 Nightmares & Arrange Tracks" album. It's music made for the DLC of the original Nier, and boy, if you didn't know Keiichi Okabe also made music for Tekken, you will after hearing those remixed tracks. There's also songs I don't believe even show up in the DLC, like an acapella version of Wretched Automatons and an 8-bit medley of various tracks (including a fully synthesized voice singing Ashes of Dreams)!
Also to add, every intoner has full Operatic + Classical instruments theme that can be heard in stages before each sister's boss battle. Drakengard 3's boss battles are techno/dubstep/operatic genres mixed together, like Two's theme that you heard.
1:35:30 Regarding the eye-hair-horror: I've never had this issue in my life until two years ago and three times in a row. The trick is to move your eye in circles with lid closed. It eventually gets stuck on the lower inner side, and when your careful you can brush it then out by gently pulling down your lower lid and brushing in the direction of from your inner tearduct away over your nose. Be sure to not touch your eyeball and soft tissue there to prevent infection. It takes a bit of practice, but it eventually becomes as easy as taking out contact lenses (which also depends on the right technique - the standard taught with grabbing it with thumb and index finger is horrible and dangerous due to the fingernails. That too you would instead pull down your lower lid and gently brush-drag the contact lens down. As it cannot slip beneath your lower lid it will instead fold and instead come out like a window falling out (putting it in should be the opposite of that too, like putting in a window)).
growing wings is unsettling in context of the game. because everything about it is a world breaking down. a world on the brink of collapse from forces beyond reality. and the ost reflects its madness. its not easy to listen to. but its great in the context of the game
Hi Marco! I'm late on watching this video since I've only recently discovered your channel, but I'm leaving this for others who may come late as well. All the NieR songs have this visceral feeling, this feeling of emptiness in your stomach accompanied by an antithetic bubbling up sensation of excitement constantly ready to burst. I have not heard many Drakengard songs before. So far I'm 55 minutes into the stream and I have to say that I'm thankful for showing me The Silence is Mine and Kuroi Uta up to now. I felt the need to write this comment a few seconds after Amusement Park started, because even after hearing it hundreds of time in my playlists and in game, it's still the one song that every time I hear makes me shiver. I don't know what it is about it, it's the part right after the beginning that always triggers this shivering within me and I've never met with a song that does that to me. You could analyse these songs for hours but in the end, I don't think words are enough to explain the OSTs that this series offers us, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Also really want to point out Ashes of Dreams / New lyrics hits hard. they really fit with the lore. hits way too hard. "Are we the playthings of fiends?" oof
Amusement park - "something about this bothers me" Exactly what the song wants to portray as it plays when you first arrive to the amusement park. For this soundtracks, you have to watch the game part its associated with and you will definitely understand its brilliance.
Emi Evans' cover of Kuroi Uta is great, but the original by Eir Aoi is fantastic. I'd highly recommend checking out the intro to the first Drakengard (aka Drag-on Dragoon)
Shame that I forgot about Drakengard 3 when I was thinking about recommendations. Bigger shame is missing the stream because of work. 😪 At least I was able to rewatch this, so all is good. :) Biggest surprise for me was the stream didn't end with Kaine - Salvation. 😱
Hey Marco, I am barely starting to watch this livestream but I was wondering if you were going to look at some of the OST for Nier Reincarnation. I think that it has some banger songs on it and I would love it if you could listen to some either on a livestream or some individual videos. It's fine if you don't though of course because of copyright, just curious if you have any thoughts on the soundtrack if you have previously listened to them.
@@MarcoMeatball Fair enough, I would never recommend anyone to play it at this point. I think its better just to experience it through youtube videos because the gameplay is so uninteresting but the story and music are something else. I think that Reincarnation is on par with the mainline Nier games in terms of interesting characters and stories so I find it to be quite sad that many people will never know the story. I love the stream though, keep up the great work.
Video Games have been underrated in their music for a long time. So many bangers from my childhood, even in the old 16-bit era. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross has absolute gems.
I'd be interested on your take on the SinOalice soundtrack. Made by Keichi Okabe for a mobile game Taro wanted to make. All i can really say is he REALLY didnt need to make it that good for a mobile game of all things 😂
The Nier Reincarnation soundtrack is also very good. Some of it is from the mainline games but a few pieces are either new or from other sources such as the stage play. I’ll have to check out the SinoAlice soundtrack since it melted into the gameplay so well.
Stayed for 2 hours only to drop off because it was late and missed the one track I was waiting for :( Oh well, not that I wouldn't re-watch the stream as a regular video anyway
i hope you also reacting to nier reincarnation music too. Now, its story (season 3) at its peak finale about what's happening after automata event and replicant v1.22 ending E..red girl, 10H (a YoRHa android tasked to protecting humanity's data on the moon server), quantum server (memory tree), him and her, ect. Well i can say this mobile gacha game that everyone hates is really nier 3 afterall (we just dont like the game, not the story but still playing it for the story).
53:20 Oh yes, I have the exact same issue. It's why I despise this song. I believe it intentional though, as the amusement park is a distorted, eerie, creepy place. It is meant to be uncomfortable and off. However, I do really like the piano version. Strange, eh? It's easy to learn and fun to play.

Hansel und Gretel goes so hard
Also to add, every intoner has full Operatic + Classical instruments theme that can be heard in stages before each sister's boss battle. Drakengard 3's boss battles are techno/dubstep/operatic genres mixed together, like Two's theme that you heard.
I am sorry I was not there to congratulate you when you reached 200K, but I am here, friend, glad to see you reached that milestone
Thank you very much!
i love this soundtrack so much
Oh, missed this.
This makes for a good weekend.
I forgot this happened 😂😂😂😂
Very surprised that Possessed By A Disease didn't make the cut. I think it is one of the most underrated songs in Nier Automata, it is spectacular!
If Marco hasn't yet listened to FFXIII-2's OST, we need to get him on this.
Yes ! This OST is in the same way
Where even to begin. All the songs were incredible. It's like trying to pick a standout track and all you got are masterpieces
Caius' theme 😩
growing wings is unsettling in context of the game. because everything about it is a world breaking down. a world on the brink of collapse from forces beyond reality. and the ost reflects its madness. its not easy to listen to. but its great in the context of the game
Aw! Thanks for writing this!!
City in sunlight is my ringtone. Love the ost so much
Voice of no return my goodness
Also really want to point out Ashes of Dreams / New lyrics hits hard. they really fit with the lore. hits way too hard.
"Are we the playthings of fiends?"
oof
The first song is truly a beautiful song and the name of it is
“the last song - Drakengard 3”
yeah, Drakengard 3's OST goes hard sometimes...
Amusement park - "something about this bothers me"
Exactly what the song wants to portray as it plays when you first arrive to the amusement park.
For this soundtracks, you have to watch the game part its associated with and you will definitely understand its brilliance.
I’ve played it :)
Biggest surprise for me was the stream didn't end with Kaine - Salvation.
I fear the mobile game
@@MarcoMeatball Fair enough, I would never recommend anyone to play it at this point. I think its better just to experience it through youtube videos because the gameplay is so uninteresting but the story and music are something else. I think that Reincarnation is on par with the mainline Nier games in terms of interesting characters and stories so I find it to be quite sad that many people will never know the story. I love the stream though, keep up the great work.
the most beloved Nier songs are literally every Nier song
Sadly I forgot to mention Drankegard 1 opening theme for recomendation
Video Games have been underrated in their music for a long time. So many bangers from my childhood, even in the old 16-bit era. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross has absolute gems.
Nier: fight this huge boss with the most hard boss battle theme ever
Also Nier: have the most peaceful music ever
Just listened to wretched weaponry on a run the other day. Too bad I missed this
My birthday was a few weeks ago so thanks for that! ❤️ You should clip that and maybe do Cameos with it 😃
I'd be interested on your take on the SinOalice soundtrack.
Some personal favourites of mine are Nethernox, Thundervalor, Companthem (both bosses) and Wilderblades
Fuckin Love the other themes for the sisters in Drakengard 3
I cannot believe I missed this stream I'm mad at myself
It's ok!!!
@@MarcoMeatball i love your stuff way too much man
Hey there, Nier fan :)
Marco without his majestic beard is unusual
drakengard hits different i swear
Stayed for 2 hours only to drop off because it was late and missed the one track I was waiting for :(
Oh well, not that I wouldn't re-watch the stream as a regular video anyway
i can tell from the beginning..
dang it is City Ruins, the next drakengard or nier should be either song of the ancient, or black song.
Without a beard you look much younger, wow
I really want to know your thoughts on drakengard 1 Growing Wings
Can we get a list of the songs used in order?
Thank you, Raeyth__!
2:18:42 am i the only who's head started spinning after hearing this for too long?
Yeah that’s the intended effect. It’s a story about madness
i hope you also reacting to nier reincarnation music too. Now, its story (season 3) at its peak finale about what's happening after automata event and replicant v1.22 ending E..red girl, 10H (a YoRHa android tasked to protecting humanity's data on the moon server), quantum server (memory tree), him and her, ect. Well i can say this mobile gacha game that everyone hates is really nier 3 afterall (we just dont like the game, not the story but still playing it for the story).
would be nice if you compare The Final Song to the sisters' themes someday
Please do another one with Kaine's escape v1.22. I've seen the old vid for the FF collab and salvation but escape is awesome you'll love it
oh man, you should give Nier Reincarnation soundtracks a go
Yeahh babyyy
Took you forever to get here!
Let’s go ❤❤❤
Shame I could only check in for a short time before midnight ... Time zones and stuff.
At 17:06 what is the name of this one?
Kuroi Uta, from Drakengard 3. It's a favorite of mine!
@@cocodiloki thank you, I knew it was drakengard but I’m unfamiliar with the games ost.
Two's Song always gets me lmao
44:18
You should try listening to Her Inflorescence battle theme from FFXIV since it contains alot of reference from drakengard and nier
I think he has reacted to it. He plays XIV and has done the Nier raids.
Waiting for the timestamp guy/gal :)
he shaved 😲
Does anyone have a timestamp for the songs?
This was such a fun stream! 🤍
