Well said advice. I am retired and always home and there is something to be said for downsizing.I have been de cluttering for a while now and it feels good to get rid of so much stuff.I love shopping my home to redo so many spaces in my home.I love your ideas and waiting for your holiday videos to start. My favorite time of year. God bless and Howdy from central Texas.
Thanks for the helpful tips! I only have mood lighting in my rooms. No overhead lighting. I have to incorporate the 3 rule when it comes to accessories. I tend to over decorate some of the time then step back and remove! 🙂
When we lived in South Florida, we had a pool. I would take the fake plants to the pool and shish them around in the pool. I could put them upside down and then I would just wipe the vase. It worked perfectly.
It is sad when they leave. Trust me you will adjust. Now it is time for you. Redecorate or get started on something. It is what I did and it helped. Do something you forgot you wanted to when young. Like a hobby.
So funny! Just been thinking about this!! Such a timely video. Trying to declutter and minimalize. . been in the same small home for 31 years. . want to keep it fresh, cozy and welcoming ..we live here and also want it functional .Thanks so much!
Good tips! Another tip is keeping drapes and blinds open during the day. I see so many Americans that keep their homes dark and not let natural light in, it affects the mood in the room and yourself. Also, terrible paint colors or a dirty home.
Thank you Jenny. It was a great piece of advise especially before forthcoming holidays season🙂. And it was great to see you! Have a wonderful weekend! Greetings from Poland😘😘😘🤗🤗🤗🌷🌷🌷
I only have overhead lights, they are not very harsh, I am from the Caribbean and most home don't use lamps and overhead lights. However I do admire rooms with lamps lit
You can go to the thrift store and pick up three table lamps and give them a try. Try using 60 watt lightbulbs or less and only use soft white lightbulbs. Also look for lampshades that are a cream/off white color. Pure white lampshades cast a blue light in a room which is harsh and not cozy. Each room needs at least three table/floor lamps. Good luck. Hope I don't sound too pushy. I just am passionate about lighting and believe it really makes a difference.
How do you feel about LED lighting? I agree with everything you said about soft lighting and the wattage. I only use the ceiling lighting when I am cleaning. No one looks good in overhead light. However I have a designer friend who tells me to use LED in my kitchen so it looks less yellow. I can’t do it. Bright white lights - that’s what makes me sad. When I walk in a room that has leds - even 2700k - it’s just too bright. Maybe because I am prone to migraines. I even avoid the grocery store 🤕 but that’s another story lol.
You need to use what bulbs make your room happy to you. LED lighting has come a long way, and they are now making bulbs that cast a soft warm light. :)
No faux plants. They do not look good. Just get a real plant or don't use them at all. There are plenty of plants that are non-toxic to pets as well. Also many plants that don't need much care or light.
Thanks for this lesson, Jennifer! Loved the bathroom cleaner tip. For the silly fabric type faux plants, disinfectant spray will eat away dust and not damage the foliage😊
I actually spray them in the sink with water or take outside and use the sprayer to wash them. If silk plants/flowers can survive the rain storms in the cemetery, they can certainly survive a “shower” in my sink. Lol! I have never had a problem!
You do beautiful decorating. Create a colorful backdrop for these videos. Too plain and dull for your style. Please take as a suggestion to match your talent.
How do you clean your faux flowers? You knew this was coming… lol. I am always entertained by the faux plant debate. They work for me on shelves or in dark areas like my staircase where a real plant won’t survive. People who say “just get a real plant” may not have animals especially cats whose instinct is to dig in dirt. The plant has to be very high quality of course. I’ve always wondered the quickest way to clean them though and the spray cleaner tip is very helpful. I’ve thought about taking them outside and blowing them lightly with a blow dryer? 😬 As it is, I spend one afternoon a week watering my real plants. That probably means I have too many ☺️ Love all your advice Jennifer. And I appreciate the kindness in your delivery and how nonjudgmental you are 💗 Some designers can be so snobby.
Hello there! I have found the easiest way to clean faux flowers is with a clean unused paint brush. It gets all the dust off without harming the flower. Thank you for watching!

Well, howdy back! Thank you for watching.
You cracked me up when you asked if there’s anything sadder than a DEAD plant clinging to LIFE. Great tips. Thanks. 😊

Great tips. I am trying to declutter and boy I wonder how I had all that in my house.

Well, I think most people would if they could. They may have pets that would mess with the plants, or even harm them. Thank you for watching.

I am allergic to dust so I hesitate to have lamps of any kind. Do you have any suggestions for lighting that is easy to clean and dust?
Maybe yo could choose lamps that have a metal or glass shade. That way they would be easier to clean.
Our greatroom . 22x30 has no outlets in the floor , all lamps are around the room or overhead, any suggestions?
Is there anyway you could have a floor outlet installed?
