I bought the NT530, which is the upgraded NT510 and that replaced the NT510. It says it has the functionality to change the batter type (Lead-Acid or EGM) and the battery size (90 Ah, etc.) It really doesn't. It refers you to BMW's ISTA program. I even called Foxwell's customer support and they said that it doesn't have that functionality and never has. Why is give you menu options for it is beyond me. So, if you have the same type and size battery, it will register it for you, but if you don't have the same type or size, this tool is useless.
Exactly. I have been searching for a diagnostic tool without these limitations. The diagnostic companies all state the Service Functions including BMS, yet most of them register the battery only as long as it is the same Ah and Type. Some give you the chance where you select the Ah from a menu (80, 85, 90 Ah), but only the serious diagnostic scanners allow you to actually enter the Ah of the battery, either a 2 or 3 digit number. This is pure BS since all it is are some extra lines of software code.
I went through the same thing with Autel.. the ap200 is basically everything that that Foxwell does. At least when it comes to batteries. I sent Autel tech support in email and basically you need the 906 model on up supposably. So even the nice $600 mx808 should not do.. it kind of frustrating.
Seems good - it found faults I had not found any other way. Just got a 510 and the menus adjust apparently, maybe depending on your specific car? On mine, there is no access to "Power Supply". Simply nothing there. When I looked up how to do a battery reset on my car (E53 X5 2004) the 'you need to do this' list does not include my car, so I have to presume that mine simply does not require a battery reset, and that the software has that preset to 'null' for mine.
Thanks for reaching out! Changing the AH for a different battery usually requires a professional approach. These contemporary cars and their in-built systems can be quite complex. This is why we designed the YOUCANIC Full System Scanner - to empower car owners like you with the capacity to diagnose and fix their vehicles correctly. Learn more about it here www.youcanic.com/scanner Doing the job right often requires additional help, such as procedure guidance from Factory Repair Manuals and Torque Specs. The Foxwell tester I purchased was specifically programmed for BMW products. If I want to do my Chevy pickup, I would have tp purchase additional software from Foxwell for it. Long story short, be sure that the tester you purchase it for BMW as a generic tester that includes all vehicle brands/models may or may not have the features you need for BMW analyzing and resets.
Why does you car say service in red ? And it shows -1800 mls... I have the same issues I can’t get to reset my oil level and it shows that I’m on negative
The whole point of this video is to show how to register the battery but your video jumps at 1:29 !

yeah this tool is useless if you have a new battery with different Ah etc. It 'registers' but it doesn't give you the option to put in new values.
Thank you this was precise and easy to understand and follow.
Thanks for this video! I will try this on my mini cooper

Thank you. Stealership would of cost a shit ton just for them to take their thumb out of there but for 10 seconds to press a few buttons.
Can you activate the water pump with this scanner? Check communication?
Absolutely NT510 is a absolute monster. Best there is.
Can you show how to register a battery that has a different voltage? I believe this took doesnt allow you to enter new Ah etc.
You can use the YOUCANIC scanner to change the battery specs.
Does that mean the new battery is now “coded in”?
How to you change the AH for a slightly different battery? All it does in option 2 is ask for the new batts data matrix

@@YOUCANIC so it has the option to register the different battery, but you need to code it using other software?
Do i have to buy the sofware for the bmw or its free? I'm having a hard time updating this scanner

Your oil condition based sensor on the bottom of the oil pan next to the drain plug may need replaced
Foxwell or Innova 3160 RS ?
My car says the battery is 90Ah but it's 95.
