I got a hydroponic unit in June (Naimp from Amazon). Very similar to the Aerogarden but for under £50 (approx $60). I have a Chilli Pepper plant in mine that literally took off. Planted the seed on the 12th June and it was touching the light which I had raised twice. Pruned it back tonight. It amazes me how quickly things grow in these units. I have in mine the Chilli, a Basil plant which is huge but I've been using the leaves already, a Dill - also using the leaves, a lettuce which wants to take over the whole thing. Good job it's warm here in the UK just now - salad's on the menu tonight. Got rocket which is coming along nicely, spinach which I started off by soaking the seeds for 2 days then putting them between wet kitchen roll and in a ziplock bag. Three seeds germinated so they're now in the unit. Other seeds are germinating so I'll probably do them the traditional way in pots. I have a greenhouse too. I also have chives, a rosemary and two cherry tomatoes. I'm also germinating cilantro the same way as the spinach but they're slower in germinating although two seeds are showing signs so far. This has been so successful (my first attempt at hydroponics) I'm going to get a second and possibly third unit. Having fresh veg and herbs all year round is really great. The third unit I plan to grow only strawberries in but not from seed. For anyone that loves cooking I really recommend getting a hydroponic unit. I'm loving mine. Subscribed.
This was amazing help. So many videos out there about transplanting from aerogarden to soil, but you walked through exactly what I was looking for; moving soil sprouts to aerogarden pods. Thank you!!!
Thank you for showing how you prune/trim your pepper plants. I would never imagine taking that much off as it seems wasteful, but it makes sense once you explained and showed the result weeks later. As always, useful and informative stuff you put out!
Most interesting aerogarden person in youtube for sure!!!! please make more videos. I learned SO much from this one from you. Would watch all your future videos whatever you upload. So super helpful. thanks so much!!!!!!
Excellent documentary. Highly recommended especially for me the beginner of this hobby. Thank you so much as it has saved me time and bad experiences. Well done. I have subscribed as well.
Great video this morning Khang. Informative and simple especially as to maintaining plant "smallness under an AeroGarden setup. Noticed one of your successful radish grows in the background. Should be enough daylight here in a few minutes to step out and check out garden progress up here. Happy Gardening! -Bob...
Thanks for this video. I have also watched many of your hydroponic videos. Please I need help on lightning my grow tent. How many hours per day do I have the lights on?. Do hydroponics plants need to rest at night Thanks for your anticipated assistance
Would the smaller harvest model ,12” grow height, be enough to support one plant? I have two, and want to try the purple super hots, and red chili pods I got from Aerogarden, don’t want to waste them in too small of a unit.
I am growing jwala peppers in my aero garden. They are growing so fast and tall. Can I keep them in it. I noticed that they don’t do well transplant into the ground. These are Indian peppers. See many buds. Should I trim them on the top ?
Hi Khang! If i wanted to make my own "food" for my aerogarden, what would you suggest? I am growing lettuce, herbs.. that's it... not a pepper person! Thank you!
Hi Mr. Khang , I never ever gardaning. I inspiared your '''youtube channel'' for hydroponic plant grow. I am trying to start by small amount of plants at apartment building. Anyhow, my question is , may I use Mirackle gro for hydrodroponic plants?
No you need hydroponic nutrients. Concentration of miracle grow for soil is kuch more concentrated. You can burn your hydroponic plants. And the mix is less complete (inadequate nutrient ratio/coverage.
Because when they are small, they don't drink much. If you put too much, they will never drink it all up, you'll just be wasting nutrients when you change it out in 3-4 weeks.
After cleaning out my Aerogarden if a Starracha Hornet that simply refused to produce pods my pump stopped working. I cleaned it out pretty well with a faucet sprayer to get all the sand and grit out but that should t hurt it. Any ideas of what could have happened? I ordered a new one off Amazon but also filed a claim with AG. Just want to prevent it from happening again.
Can’t believe your almost out of white Thai! Ive got my first ones growing atm! It’s only about 5-7 peppers and need them to ripen to send seeds out to folk but so can’t wait to try them!!! When would you say is best to pick them for seeds Khang? Just wanted to be sure. I’ve got a KSLS going to but it’s about the size of the one u just put in the areogarden so it’ll be a while lol doesn’t help the areogardens light is higher coz I’ve got a a chilli plant and couple tomatoes waiting to go out in it lol
If you're picking for seeds, let the peppers turn red and get wrinkly. You can also harvest them as soon as they turn red, then leave them to dry at room temperature for a few days, then get seeds out. As long as you don't pick them white, the seeds should be good.
I know I am not the first one asking but I thought I'll just try. Where can I get some of the white thai seeds? I hope to get a answer. Sorry if I did some grammar mistakes. I am from switzerland and my english is not as well as I want it to be.
@khang Starr I noticed you didn't use Dyna-gro's bloom nutrients. I am new to hydroponics and I am noticing some people don't use bloom nutrients for vegetables. Is it necessary to use bloom? I seen a video where you used Aerogardens liquid plant food to grow cucumbers and nothing else. So are we able to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers without bloom?
Khang your videos are helpful as always! I just can't justify spending $300 on a small aerogarden unit (and this is for basic?!) I mean a 2x4x6 tent can be had at $70, a couple of shop lights for $20 each, and a 5 gallon bucket for $3. Why spend premium for something that can be done more cost efficient with possibility to upgrade (better light, resovoir tank, etc.) Am I missing out here?
And will prob broke in a short wile. bought the bounty and had it for 1 month before display broke. Read online that it was a big problem with bounty/elite. Not ok for a $300 unit..
Khang's been doing hydroponics for years so he's experimented with a lot of stuff and has all kinds of equipment/tools accumulated over the years. He has at least two grow tents and probably 2 Aerogarden units. There was one unit he had that he's not shown in a while that looked really cool but I forget the brand. It's large and white with lots of places for growing hydroponically. That unit must have cost him a pretty penny. LOL
@@doodahgurlie Okay but there's nothing about it that makes it worth the money. You can make something like that out of a Rubbermaid tote for next to nothing. The Aerogardens are ripoffs, and needlessly limiting.
@@rocketamadeus3730 You have to realise that for working people, time is worth money. I value my time (since I could simply be making money) a lot, and buying a ready to use all in one unit like these saves me a lot of hours of shopping around for grow lights/parts/tools I don't already own/stand and all that is needed to make my own. It also saves me all the time required to build it. Finally, I do value the look of the unit a lot and the aerogarden looks sharp, contrary to a normal grow light with a plastic bin. For me, growing/crossing peppers is a hobby. BTW, a decent growlight, a timer for the light and a good pump with a filter (like the aerogarden has) is definitly cheaper than the aerogarden unit, but not by a long shot. Considering the units are often 50% on amazon, too, it's a great investment considering how many hours I saved. Considering how much money my time is worth, the hundred buck more I had to pay compared to building one (at most a 100$) is totally worth it.

The way he cleans the roots is the same as how I wash my sneakers.
😂😂
Good info. Once the plant started flowering, did you have to hand pollinate?
I grow Thai peppers in my Aerogarden. Since they can self pollinate, I just let the ceiling fan handle it.
Great video, full of great advice for gardening both generally and in the aerogardens. What's your PH tester recommendation these days?

You obviously use hydroponics but also you grow in potting soil/potting medium in regular pots. Wanted to know your preferred soil mix. Thanks!
This was really helpful! Thanks.
I had no idea I followed you on UA-cam. I’m currently growing your peppers
Can we do the same approach with tomatoes and cherry tomatoes?
Oh man I wish I saw this earlier! I grew mine too bunched together!
Very informative thank you. Is 3 inch net cup ok for pepper using kratky method?
Very informative, thank you so much
thanks for the video. would you have been able to create clones from a lot of those trimmings?
I'm all for cheaper alternatives. This guy rocks

Can I use soap to clean roots that are growing algae???
Great talk through! Thank you!

Thanks for everything that you do! Do you have recommendations for lower-priced Aerogarden alternatives?
Walmarts got a 2 gallon hydroponics tub that includes an air pump.
Can you start from the unit?
I start Thai peppers from seed in my Aerogarden all the time. It's very good for that.
Do you have any idea that the led lights will last? And are they replaceable? How much does the replacement cost? Thank you, always enjoy your vids.
How many peppers do you think you could fit in an aerogarden without making competition too high?
I have the same question 😅
You are amazing!

Very informational video..
I was just wondering why you put very little nutrients in the beginning in the aerogarden?
Full dose can be to strong for young plants. The one he used came from the garden and wouldn’t be used to the nutrients so can burn the roots
Because when they are small, they don't drink much. If you put too much, they will never drink it all up, you'll just be wasting nutrients when you change it out in 3-4 weeks.
I’ve gotten many flowers, but zero peppers. What are the issue and solution? Help please! Thank you
Have you assisted the pepper flower to self polinate by stimulating the flower?
Can i just cut out a cube from the rockwool wall insulation sheets?
I don't know for sure, but I believe they are made the same way. If your insulation has no chemical in it, I think it should be fine.
Hallo Khang. What is your water temperature inside the aerograden unit?
I don't really know. I grow this at room temperature around 74F, so I imagine the water is slightly cooler.
Thanks for the info

When the plant is bigger and you're losing water every day, do you top up with more prepared solution or just water?
Link for dyno?

What brand of rock wool do u use?
check the description, I have link there.
Why not just use aerogarden nutrients? Just curious
I couldn’t imagine being that rough with my plants, haha. Great video! Where do you get your seeds from? Need to get some white birds eye myself!
I’ve seen dogs and cats get facials, but I’ve never seen a plant get a bubble bath 😂
blow with air to clean roots faster better ive noticed

I bet he didn’t use bloom
Because he didn’t want his young ones to bloom yet, to grow larger. He could add it later when he wants it to fruit? Maybe?!
I would cut of the brown roots
Why 5.9 pH?
How many pepper plants would you recommend for that size Aerogarden? 1? 3?

5.9 ph? Why below 6.4
