Walking in Manila (Philippines)

- Manila, capital and chief city of the Philippines.
The city is the centre of the country’s economic, political, social, and cultural activity. It is located on the island of Luzon and spreads along the eastern shore of Manila Bay at the mouth of the Pasig River.
The city’s name, originally Maynilad, is derived from that of the nilad plant, a flowering shrub adapted to marshy conditions, which once grew profusely along the banks of the river; the name was shortened first to Maynila and then to its present form. In 1975, by presidential decree.
Manila will always remain beautiful, my favorite city where I spend happiest time of my life.1980 to 1991. Long time diba. Love Pinas at pinoy.
Great effort recording this video, salamat pare.

You should revisit my friend (although COVID 19 may hinder this).
It's now 2020, 5 years after this video was made and ALOT has changed!! The current Manila mayor ISKO MORENO, an ambitious and hands on leader has numerous beautification plans and projects ongoing to transform Manila into a progressive, clean and green capital city!! 💚🇵🇭
REMEMBER THIS . REPENT YOUR SINS TO OUR GOD FATHER JESUS CHRIST AND HE WILL SAVE YOU AND HEAL YOU AND RESTORE YOU.
Yet it is still a very hostile and dangerous environment
I have a looot of philipin' friends, they're pretty nice people, i love them.
I'm glad to meet a little of your capitol.

@@johnwest360, Obrigado .
I just Love the Philippines, and this is a great video of, everyday, Life in Manila!!!from a new Yorker and Dominican, Philippine people are GREAT!!!
Gracias!!
GREAT Video!. No crazy music or comments. Just takes you right into the video, makes you feel like you are walking in Manila, so much so, that I jumped and moved when you cross the street. You have BIG brass ones crossing the street bro. Thanks for the great walk.
Hello I been in and out of the PI from 1975 until 2017 and want to say thanks for you video.
Yw Keith
Looks like u did a lot of walking thru out Manila streets. Excellent video luv it. It reminds me 40 years ago when I was exploring the city. Few improvements I think but cleaner as before.Your video shot is as natural as can be. Thanks!
It´s a few years ago since I have been in that awesome city. Next week I´ll fly to Manila again. Can´t wait. When I see this video I really get impatient. Thanks for sharing.
I like philippines. They are some kind of Latin Americans but in the far east. In fact they have the same nice and cool behavior. Thanks very much for this video.
Correct , and thats because of Spain colonization 🙂
I walked in Manila in Luneta Park on Tuesday, February 25, 1975
when I was on liberty. I was in the U.S.Navy, my ship the USS
Blue Ridge LCC-19 was in Manila for a visit. I also walked along
Roxas Boulevard, had a coke at the famous Aristicrat of Manila
restraunt. Manila is my favorite city in the entire world. I was there
on liberty on Tuesday, March 12, 1975. I toured the San Miguel
Brewery, seen how beer was brewed. My Navy liberty times in
Manila were great. I alway had great times in Manila except at
the U.S.Embassy, that place I didn't like, they gave my late
wife & I a hard time for no reason.
During that time you can purchase a donut for Php5centavos. I remember the Sprite back in 1998 was Php5.00 and there was also Php2.50, your 1piso back then can get you a soft drink and a donut. I remember when I was in Primary we could get Php 60centavos for the whole package of lunch. The good times were great, you're right about that one.
+Christopher O'Rourke Hi there. I just searched for this USS Blue Ridge LCC-19. It's such an amazing boat! Can you mention what were you doing as job on this boat? I never been in the Navy but I'm very passionate by it. Especially nuclear subs.
How old are you now
Wow you win the prize for best walking video, I have been listening to it while I did some work online, and listening to the sounds of the traffic, the children and people as you go from one town to the next was nice and educational...very nice job. Sometimes the simple and easiest approach has the best impact, although your feet must be tired. I will watch it when I get a chance from beginning to end, I don't think you did any editing.
+Franklin NJ no editing this sir ...i know this place he walked in...he came from Roxas blvd to
( binondo} Chinatown the oldest chinatown in the wolrd i think it was sunday or holiday b'coz no traffic
Thanks Kees I could almost smell it, great work as usual. take care..
Awesome video with an unbelievable quality.
What a journey ! Very informative and touching scenes.
You captured so well every noise (and sometimes silences) on the streets. Congrats and thx a lot.
Thanks for taking me on your walk...I seen a lot of things I remember from when I was in Manila 5 years a go
Thank you..i was back in manila for 2 hours..
er scorcho lol
Enjoyed seeing Manila again after so many years of absence.. thank you so much for sharing.
Great video. I took a walk in Manila today. Great job. Thanks!
Damn man, all you're missing is the smells. Great visuals and sound. A lot of your videos take me back and make me feel the places again. Great stuff.
Thanks Joe, everyone calls you Joe. Nice walk thru. Manila is so big, be nice to know where your taking Us. Same with so many of your videos.
I miss this place... nice to see someone doing a video of Manila on the side streets. thanks for this wonderful video.
This is extreme, walking for almost 2 hours with the hotness of the sun.
That is from Roxas boulevard near the US embassy all the way to Binondo or somewhere in Tondo. I could imagine myself walking while following this video.
we're born for that temperate so don't worry
Oh you are sexy
ĺĺóĺļĺpóķķĺļb
Amazing video!!
Did you ever feel unsafe walking around in Manila with a camera like that?
08.10 on the right G-point bar....a great bar to sit and have a drink, 08.52 on the left one of my favorite places in Manila...Solidaridad bookshop, a peaceful haven for me when i am visiting there.....great to be there again via your filming............Marty
Just got back from a two week trip home (to Manila) and like yourself, I too, really enjoyed walking around the city. However, I did most of my walks in the early morning hours before it got really hot. I have to say though, that when it comes to video walks of Manila, you take the cake! Thanks for the video...you covered more places than I could ever have done. Well done!
WOW, that's quite a WALK!!!!!! 2 hours worth..... gives me an idea of where to go when I finally do go to Manila... I already have been to Bangkok 13 times ...booked a vacation in MNL but then the Typhoon cancelled my trip! Salamat! for taking such a great video!!!!!
Great video, Really enjoyed it and just loved the jeepneys..
Very well done. Excellent video. Thank you Keezi.
Muchas gracias por compartir las mil ímagenes de tus viajes, nos haces viajar a diferentes partes del mundo, con solo presionar un click, muchas felicitaciones por tú trabajo y un afectuoso saludo desde Chile.-
Gracias Juan!
Juan Gonzalez gracias senyor.....!
Thanks for best quality video! I see this and have the effect of presence :) Special thanks for showing the truth of life - as it is - but not a tourist glamor.
Funny story here, my dad’s parents went to Canada a long time ago and brought my dad with them and met my mom here. Years later they had my brother then 10 years later me.
7 months ago my dad decided to take us to visit his relatives in the Philippines, and I had a great idea to bring multiple jackets ( snuggles them ) to the airport without my parents knowing, once we arrived about two days into our trip I pulled it out of my luggage and wore it and started walking down the streets in Manila, there were many people looking at me weirdly and some giving me confused looks ( most of them were taking pictures btw ) my parents then decided to scold me cause they told me it was too hot and that I looked idiotic in them. XD
REPENT YOUR SINS TO OUR GOD JESUS AND HE WILL SAVE YOU AND RESTORE YOU
Philippines is God's country. Love the story
LOL
@@adrielfamilyvlog7524Heeeyyy this is me on a separate account 4 years later. I’m actually atheist 😅
Good news! I’m going to the Philippines next year and I’m planning on doing this again! :D
Wow! u'r nerves must've gotten a work out on that walk. Going to Manilla this year so it was very informative. Thanks. --- M.S.A.
This is the Part where We See the. Mixture of Filipinos from All walks Of Life . The Rich , middle Classes, and The poor are Living Close to each Other . Unlike in Makati CBD , Ortigas Center, Araneta Center, BGC and Roxasblvd and Mabini Malate Areas Where The Richest and Upper Class Filipinos own A House or Condominium .
ty sa nag upload...nakakamiss ang manila parang nasa philippines din ako ng mapanood ko ito..
I hope someday that other people will get to see more of this side of the country and not all about poverty as always portrayed in the media.
nOnOy borbun Nah.. when you know where to look Manila is a fascinating city.
I agree...filipinos never stop complaining.
Shyrra lee
Heh. That makes them as bad as we are (Dutch). ;)
Galing! maraming salamat from north america.. your video brings tear in my eyes. lots of memories.
i was born in the Philippines..
came here to the US when I was a little boy...
ive never been back to the Philippines.
its been 25 years already..
thanks for this video..
its so beautiful
Thank you so much for your spectacular videos. I am a disabled person and I use your videos, during exercise sessions with my stationary hand bicycle. Your videos are true to life and show places where normal people actually live. Your videos show real life and not the Hollywood version, that so many other videos show. I am always fully engrossed when watching your videos and I am able to realistically keep pace during my respiratory therapy sessions. Once again, thank you so much for your splendid, non-boring videos.
Cool comment man
I love this video. Thanks for taking me back home, even for just a few minutes...
Very lovable ❤️ bylanes much like Mumbai's Dharavi tenements.. thanks 😘the generally clean good roads can't find in Mumbai
Do you have an umbrella with you? You know as a Filipino, and 25 years of living here, I still can't tolerate the temperature, it's really hot and very humid. Walking such distance with that kind of temperature is very exhausting. And you know, little beggars in Manila are being used by syndicates, they intentionally put dirt and wear dirty clothes so people will give money because most people are religious and won't hesitate to give.
Metal Singer I wonder how he pulls it off. My fiancée is from the Philippines and I always travel during the rainy season but even then it's boiling.
Great video, can't wait to get there myself next month :D Thanks for the authentic impressions :) *sub
I will be going to the Philippines soon and spending some time in Manila. I was a bit wary after some of the talk online but this has put my mind at ease. You were not harassed and it's much like London if a little (yes little) dirtier and somewhat busier.
silverspikejs I swear you'll be surprised of how friendly the people are in the Philippines, there are cctv's everywhere in the streets already but ofcourse you still have to avoid some places, but neighbor cities like Makati, Taguig, Ortigas, Mandaluyong and Libis are the safest and most developed.
Metal Singer I'm here now
Went to a concert at the MOA Arena last night. Walked 'home' everyone has been great.
silverspikejs go to Bonifacio Global City or Makati if you want to see amazingly nice places.
This footage is from Manila bay, Roxas boulevard. Last time I went there renovations are still ongoing.
Have you travelled around Manila before? It's quite amazing that you reached Divisoria all the way from Roxas Boulevard.
Dead Pixel no i didn't ,. it was not so far
Yeah
Talo mo pa ang Somewhere Street ng NHK Channel ng Japan ha sa haba ng coverage mo! Ang galing mo at ang ganda ng video may HD pa. Thanks for sharing your. God bless.
People seem to take their chances crossing the road. Queson city good & safe with plenty of road crossings & not quite as hot in the winter as Manila.
I never gets such stabilization. Thanks for sharing video.
Your videos are top notch.
I used to walk in that streets.. Hot and lots of things going on.. Few money in the pockets and you wont get bored.. Missing it from England.. All i can say.. Freedom. So laid back..
Thanks for this video for showing the real situation in Manila.
walking in calcuta is definitely your master piece with its surreal grand finale, Kees Colijn.
Sal Chook that’s wasn’t surreal it was just shockingly third world and chaotic it’s a pity Indian cities are in such a horrific state in this day and age
Very nice. I love Manila…or Metro Manila. It has so many faces. A vibrant, resilient place and people! The metropolis has been booming the past couple of years. So much construction, renovations, expansions going on- new luxury hotels, even bigger shopping complexes, world class casinos, swanky districts like Global City, Ortigas, Alabang, Eastwood/Libis, Greenhills and Rockwell. Can't wait to go back and see all the new developments!

ang nagpapapangit sa Metro Manila yung mga basurang nakakalat sa kalye, kailangan turuan ang mga tao magtapon ng basura sa tamang lugar saka yung mga wires mga batang pakalat kalat.
Great job. This was interesting to watch.
Please back to Manila again @keezi walks. It's really different now and a lot of changes in this year 2020.
Hello again, I enjoyed the walk in Santiago, Chile & now Metro Manila. I too once walked on United Nations Ave. back in November of 1986, when I visited some of my new in-laws residing nearby in PACO District. I loved my month long stay in country, where I also visited family members in CAPIZ, on the island of Panay. There, the countryside & rice paddies with farmers wearing conical hats reminded me of my tour of duty in Vietnam, back in 1970. By the way, you scared the daylights out of me a couple of times crossing the street in MM! You are one brave soul. I noted the locals still call out "Hey Joe!" to passing Westerners. Excellent content, I think you just about covered every aspect of daylight activities on the streets of Metro Manila. Good job!
dank je Robert
very Beautiful city Manila GOD Bless
you brought me back lotsa childhood memories thanks pal..!
I guessed this was shot by GoPro camera. Really superb white balance, quick focusing and anti-shake capabilities.Probably edited in Apple computer with its professional video editing software.
Rolly Estomaguio it is a Canon Legria , and the youtube stabilzerr
5years ago pa pla . Sana may update ngaun. Kse mas maganda manila ngaun.
Great video , cant wait too go there again end of the year :)
Is this the only video in the Philippines that you did?
Great work, appreciate what you do.
was the first scene shot on Roxas boulevard Manila bay ?
great shot. thanks for sharing!
Nice walking with you Keezi, in Manila no less.
Lots of honking, but the streets are very clean. It would be nice if the camera can capture the names of the streets & buildings.
People use horns in the philippines to signal, not an aggressive one.
Please check out the latest UA-cam videos of new mayor ISKO MORENO....he has a vision of making Manila on par with the world's greatest!! His plans and projects are absolutely gorgeous!!! ❤️🇵🇭
haven't visit there in 15 years, i wonder if they put clean public toilets for tourists, joggers and walkers along the pathways. also, i wonder if they put a fishing dock that extends out the bay with snack & souvenir store & public toilet?
thanks for the interesting video, loved it , best ever.
Best Philippines video I have seen. It brings back memories like the rice trucks with gigatons of rice all lined up. Also, I forgot how many zillions of kids there just run the streets all day with no school or supervision. Careful, they smile but like to grab things if they see a chance. I lived in Fort Bonifacio so seldom saw these areas. Great video!
Hi! May I use a short clip from your video for a project of mine at school?
Amazing video!!
Watching this video, you have to really understand. It is a way of life. Good video.
Good positive comment.
The kind of governance we have right now. Manila would catch up later as a "Pearl of the orient seas" . Google it.
do you have or can you do walking in makati city or sm mall of asia, pasay or you know other better cities with tall buildings, etc. i am sure there are places like that.
Very nice video, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of camera did you use in shooting this video of Manila? Very nice color rendition. Good job!
in the old times it is called dewey boulevard, and that place is a beach where people swim, now it is polluted.
ALOT has happened since this post 3 years ago....under the leadership of President DUTERETE and Mayor ISKO MORENO Manila Bay and the City of Manila is going thru a MASSIVE transformation!! 2020 ❤️🇵🇭
Welcome to the Philippines, keezi walks. What do you think of this city? My fave walking video of yours (so far) is Cartagena. Beautiful, colorful city. 👍👍
Like it excellent video sir
Terima kasih Bapak Keezi, video yang sangat menarik dan obyektif. :)
kees, how did you mount that camera or were you hand holding it all that time? been trying to figure it out. i thought you had a gopro with a chest mounth or a gopro mouth holder
+bert duarte i have a pistol grip
+kees Colijn How to you keep the image stable? Is this part of the GoPro software?
I very much like your walking videos. You must do the US: NYC, New Orleans, San Francisco, Southern CA, Florida and Seattle. We have a very pretty country. Forget Washington DC. In fact most Americans would want to forget Washington DC.
+titaniumsandwedge
Bro why would you forget Washington DC? All the museums are free. Go to LA and NYC same like in this video.
Manila used to be one of the greatest cities before WWII along with london, paris, new york, tokyo etc.. and has a moniker as "The pearl of the orient seas". it is nice to foresee that Manila is rising from its fall and rising back.
cocowaco Yeah but it will take time, like 2 decades more. I agree Manila was so beautiful in the past before world war 2.
hey, Bastard..
cocowaco I bet your brain feels as good as new, seeing that you never use it.
You bet...
+cocowaco It's true...even everybody call this city "Manila Vanilla"
Most streets and sidewalks are litter free. Filipinos are famous for being clean. They shower two or three times a day and they smile and laugh so easily. In the Philippines, it is all about the smiles and hospitality. Although there are bad apples, the good ones compensate for the bad ones
Brin I have smiled a lot more in Manila than any other big city that I have been to when I
was in the U.S.Navy. I have always had great experiences in Manila except for the U.S.
Embassy, my late wife & I were given a hard & difficult time there in 1980 & 1981 for
NO REASON. The U.S. Embassy staff there were rude to my late wife & I, they didn't
like their own white AMerican & black AMerican men marrying wonderful Filipina women.
Within the next 3 years I plan to return home to the Philippines which is my second
country & live out my life there, I left my heart in the Philippines on March 30, 1981
The day that I had to return to the U.S.
Christopher O'Rourke wow great story :(((( !!
Christopher O'Rourke Like most cultures, interracial marriage is not encouraged in the Philippines but once the family know you they will accept you as family. You have to earn their respect. Filipinos are very friendly. When they don't smile at you it means something is wrong. This is the only country in the world with abundance of smiles and laughs. Even under hardships or poverty Filipinos, young and adult smile a lot. And they make sure they smile with or at you and you have no choice but to smile back.
Brih Mendiola
hahaha your totally right !!
Brih Mendiola Most streets and sidewalks are litter free? Are you sure about that? I was in Manila sometime ago, first of all there are no rubbish bins accessible, secondly...sidewalks are full of rubbish.
I live in Manila now so maybe i should make a walk video like this :) nice video.
I want to visit Philippines, love from Greece
This is so cool :) How can I make my walking tour videos this cool to watch??!!!
U got a good arms, camera and mostly a good shoes mate!!!
Madungis days pa ito 5years ago na.
What city of Metro Manila are you walking on right now, its impressive.
The video you see here is of Manila City proper. The city had changed ALOT since this video was made back 5 years ago. It's now 2020 and a new mayor ISKO MORENO has many plans and projects in the works for the capital. Check out the numerous accomplishments of this ambitious and hands on leader....absolutely gorgeous!!! ❤️🇵🇭

Nice, Its been 15 years, I haven't been back that long. So hows the change in Philippines?
Dan Dayao construction is everywhere :)))))) CEBU, ILO-ILO, Davao, bulacan, BGC are booming now !! :))))
The Cursed What is most important is the growth economy to pass in peoples life not to millionaires pockets. There is poverty everywhere with population increasing uncontrollably. The infrastructure is terrible, everywhere thus the tourist index is very low, about 7 million tourist a year, compared to 17 million in Thailand and 25 million in Greece. Manila is probably the worst city in S.E.A. and among the worst in the world too, not only with terrible living conditions but with high living cost too. the more the economic expansion, the more Offshore companies getting richer while people still remain poor, in not getting poorer. It will take 100 years or more to reach to an acceptable level of living
furbygr Edi wow !! Dafaq haha im tired arguing with a brainless people yannow? !! Philippines is a Developing country ok? Thailand has a economic crisis now ! so you shall see Philippines will over take Thailand in a few years watch out !!
The Cursed
in a few dozen years, i suppose
furbygr I think your a fucking foreigner who just jealous on our improvements !! plss u just shut the fuck up !! Go on i dont argue with your nonsense comments !!
I just found your channel and it feels as if I opened a crate full of diamonds. Thank you!
Very nice! Cheers m8.
Thanks for your efforts.
beautiful lovely place
Jazakallah khair :)
You were very brave for walking this long while taking the video at the same time. Were you a tourist when you did this? I hope you didn't get lost.
Maayos na Metro Manila - Ermita / Malate Roxas Blvd., Makati, Fort Bonifacio, Ortigas, Alabang, MOA Area.
Eyesore Metro Manila - Monumento, Pasay Taft Rotonda, Divisoria, Cubao, EDSA Balintawak.
the man who walked around the planet. thanks for the walk dude. very very very cool !!!
hats off to this guy! I am a Filipino walking that long at that time of the day is like hell to me!
How was it? Any thoughts about your walk through Manila?
nice video, ....
