Things like spirit week used to drive me nuts when my kids were little. I worked and didn't have much money after paying bills and grocery shopping. Having to buy something for one extra day at school was hard on me and I do not sew, so making something was out. I did however make my son a pirates outfit for first grade out of old clothes and he won first place!

They are slates. Older than my mother in laws from the 1920’s ( rural Va) Great save.
If you took that decorative log and screwed in some hooks ; it could sit on the mantle and hold the stockings and hey the blizzard arrives and you have a log to burn.

If your daughter ever gets interested in oil painting, pick up paints like the ones you found in the baggies at 8:25 in the video. I saw good brand names there, especially the very high quality discontinued Bellini that's hard to find in such good condition.

The Japanese prints looked like two different artists I think the one on the right was a Hokusai, however serious collectors don’t use permanent frames but store them in special cabinets because they fade easily! They only hang them temporarily and switch them out with others in their collection( also they like to collect similar artists and time periods)

They’re different frequencies of sound that hit your brain a little differently. I literally haven’t been sick for at least 5 years because as soon as I start coming down with something, I’ll put Binaural Beats on, listen to them for an hour, or even all night. They clear whatever germ I was fighting right out of my body. I absolutely swear by them! Just wanted to share. I'm probably in the minority but I like spirit week. My daughter goes to private school where they have to wear a uniform. Its great to see the kids excited to wear something else. I do get that it adds extra stress. For instance, I've bought star wars shirts at thrift or consignment sales for May 4th (may the fourth be with you) as we arent star wars fans but I know the school usually acknowledge things like that so I'm prepared.

I highly recommend a mantle stocking hanger. I found one at a consignment store last year. It’s a very sturdy heavy long plank that lays on the mantle then has a track to put the stocking hooks in. It’s much safer than stocking hangers that a child or pet could pull down and hurt themselves.

I love Spirit week. I am a garage sale queen. I picked up this ahead knowing the themes are re-used. I help My Grandsons get ready for it know. As much as you are out at Thrift stores It should be easy to find cute things for them. We struggled through some years after my hubby broke his back. But I encourage kids to get involved in school activities. I always reminded them some parents will go more crazy with what the kiddos wear and some not at all. My Grandson took extra things to share with his classmates that didn't have anything. He has the Best heart.

Did you share any pictures of Juliet in her spirit week outfits? I’d love to see them. Also your house decorated for Christmas. ❤️

The slate with the name, PS might stand for public school. A great find.

Girl…command hooks for stockings covered with garland. The other hooks Laurel could pull down on her.

The measuring spoons are adorable but they tend to be off in measurements, as a baker I have to use them with "written" on the handle corrections. or just to decorate.

I have to tell you about the date 07.07.18…My cousin Laura, my first niece Mandy and my daughters dad all share that birthday. Different years but you made me giggle.

Quite interesting Jocelyn, I was just thinking about starting to collect stocking hangers for Christmas 2023! Although, I don't have to have each of them to look the same; I would prefer each hangers to look unique and different. I have been using the old fashion ornament hangers and they are so flimsy to use for hanging stockings!
Why is everyone else's Goodwill have so much more stuff than the ones near my town?
I was thinking, you could use those blendo drinking glasses to add to your blue/white winter decor?
    Happy new year 🎉 everyone!!

See if those measuring spoons are TW Pewter. My mother has a set with dragonflies on them, and there's also a stand for them. There were also measuring cups in the same pattern. They are supposed to be accurate for use, though we never did.
