Jocelyn - the ceramic items you sometimes think are "Spoon Rests" are sometimes dishes that you put a bar of soap on & it drains into the sink - thus drying the soap not in a puddle 🧼
The Asian figurine of the woman shaving the man is a Hakata Doll from Japan circa 1950. Sells for $50. The bowl taped on just sits at her feet. It’s the water bowl used for shaving. It’s an older one. Pretty collectible.
I saw a similar one the other day where I am and there was a loose piece also and I thought it was intentional. Thanks for sharing the info!
Yes! I have several of them myself. You have good instincts, Jocelyn. Pick it up next time.
Don't know what you're talking about, because I just heard about whatnot.
Today I was at a local thrift store and there was a beautiful vase kind of like those huge ones you and Dagney found a few months back. I was going to go back for it when I saw another lady holding it and I told her I believe it was Italian because of watching your channel and when I mentioned you and Dagney she said she was a follower too. It's amazing how many people I speak to who watch you, Dagney, George the antique nomad and Michael from Cult of vintage.
I've had the same experiences and I'm on the East Coast!
@@tbrooks5015 Me too! It’s a small, small world. I’m also on the East Coast.
I've had the same thing happen in Utah

Lamps on Whatnot...
Maybe you should sell one lamp, or one pair of lamps, with every whatnot sell. You are, after all, the CLL. 😁 As a viewer, it would be fun to see which lamp you "feature" with each sell.
I thought of that also when she put those in her cart!
Not a spoon rest, it’s a self draining soap dish 😊 they’re great, the soap doesn’t get gooey
I came here to say the same thing! I have one. It's great for handmade soap especially as it tends to get gooey very easily.
@@katcoop9843Yes, I used to make and sell vegetable soap. It’s better for sensitive skin than tallow-based but can wash away easily in water. I sold ridged soap dishes also that drained the soap.
Huntington Town House was a very large, ornate catering venue for weddings in Huntington, Long Island, NY. It was out of our price range when we got married in 1973. Just looked it up and it was demolished in 2011. A Target is now there. Thanks for picking the ash tray up - brought back memories.
Yup my prom was there.
@@chrislongbeard we moved from Huntington to SC in 1982 - last time I was on the island was August 2001, a few weeks before 9/11 for my class reunion. When my parents retired and moved, we didn’t get up to NY often. I remember being on Jericho Turnpike and seeing the elaborate chandeliers. Thanks for the reply!
@K1020 yeah you would not recognize much. Heck I don't. Hopefully by this time next year I'll be down south. Looking into Greenville or eastern Tennessee
@@chrislongbeard we lived in Greenville for 30 years and I loved it! We retired to Fredericksburg, VA to be closer to our daughter and her family. It has been 10 years this month and i still don’t really care for much here. Tennessee is nice too but they get more snow than the Upstate of SC. Either one would be a good choice. Good luck to you!
Oh my, attended my prom there and we had "Jay and the Americans" as our entertainment. Also, went to a friend's wedding there too. weddings there and my prom because we lived close by the Town House
The Avon perfume with a doll head lid has been around for years I’m 56 and when I eas 5 the neighbor girl had different ones. It’s a happy memory for me.
My son tried Whatnot, but did not make enough to make it worthwhile. He did a min. of 12 shows. I agree with others that you need a UA-cam following to get enough buyers. Good luck with yours.
It amazes me how many people don't listen in your videos. You are just trying ouy Whatnot, not switching from Ebay to Whatnot. A lot of sellers use more than one platform to sell. Good luck with your Whatnot sale. I will be tuning in for it.
How do I join whatnot to give Jocelyn credit.
@@pattydial1614 There is a link in the description of this video that you can use.
The basset hound looked like the hush puppy mascot. The American greetings ladies were from their line of cards. I'm not sure American greetings are still around, it's hard lately to find any Hallmark stores.
I’m a bit bummed you have succumbed to the Whatnot hustle but I get it. I will not be buying or selling but I do watch because I have so much time on my hands. For Ashton, Juliette and Laurel I hope it is a huge success but I also hope YOU actually enjoy it. I think it’s “curious” that fans watch you buy it, know what you pay and then get caught up in a bidding frenzy when #1) it’s probably not worth what the buyer ends up paying and #2) you already know all about the item having watched the purchase. If I get tired enough of the second one I’ll hear a voice saying “nothing to see here” and move on to eBay or any videos you may have going. It does have a familiar “hey, I know that buyer” vibe to it because we are all family. 🤣 I’m so proud of you, Jocelyn. Onward and upward, girl!
Excited you're doing whatnot! It would be so awesome if you could do a behind the scenes video of how you are starting and how it all works from setting up to organization to shipping. It would be super interesting!
Jocelyn is amazing but that surely is asking a lot.
I know you were on the fence about Christmas items but you can always have a Whatnot Christmas in July Sale. The key balls were awesome.👍🏻😀👍🏻
I worked at homesense/homegoods….they sold those exact “key balls” a few years back….they are not real keys just metal sheet cut to look like keys and soldered together….still cool looking of course
Been doing whatnot for about 6 months, just fyi, try to avoid things that are heavy to ship. Ppl are spooked by the shipping. But to add an incentive for those heavier purchases offer something, cheap & light weight (eg. Greeting cards, key chains) in your buy it now , then everything purchased after that will be discounted shipping. Good luck on whatnot... I'll be there... Bookmarked!
My mom has that hallmark piece. Dad got it for her years ago, and she still loves it.
I guess I may be odd, but I buy Christmas all the year around.
I do too. I love Christmas stuff.
You need to put some smalls in your buy it now whatnot, like stickers or pins or anything so people can bundle discounted shipping.
I live near Huntington Town House - not sure it is still there. On Long Island.
I love the PA Goodwills so much than the MD ones. They are brighter, less loud and fun to watch you dig by color. I think most of the Goodwills around the nation are set up by types of items rather than by color. Love your videos and I am a faithful daily watcher. I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. ❤
So excited to see you joining whatnot!! I have bookmarked and will be there!! I have been reselling on whatnot since May and really like it!
So glad you are coming to Whatnot!!! I have watched you for years but don't get to comment much as I watch on the TV but had to say that I was thrilled that you are going to try out whatnot! Weve been having a blast on there for the past 5 months.
If the Goodwills in my area had that much merchandise, I would faint!
Same;)
I have freckles...and a kitty too!! 😁 I've heard this saying and I love it - a girl without freckles is like a night without stars. 💫 🫶🏻
What a nice goodwill! My local ones are nothing like this and not this clean either 😂
That was so funny…when you were looking at the Avon Charlie Brown bubble bath and that woman’s voice come on the overhead speaker….she sounded just like Charlie Brown’s Teacher…lol!
I was dying laughing too!!!
😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
Same 😂😂😂
that Avon Charlie Brown Bubble Bath Mug 1969 Vintage With Box Peanuts Lucy Snoopy is worth about 20 bucks canadian
I love how the Snowman and Tree on comps we're all leaning in different directions. Lolol
I use a lot of hinge type canning jars for storage. You can get replacement rubber gaskets on Amazon, actually my replacements were silicone. In a pinch I have cut some from craft foam.
I love how you talk to yourself and what you have in your cart!! You are so entertaining!! Thanks!!
At the time 4:22 you are talking about Charlie Brown and the overhead speaker goes off and its sounds like Charlie Brown's Mother. LOL
Was that DECON next to the Cottageware??? WOW! I guess you really can find just about anything at GoodWill
Joshyln I can’t get over how all these stores are so large with so much stuff over here in uk it’s nothing like that I would do what you do lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't like what not. I got on there when it first started and I thought it looked really stressful for the sellers. It's interesting concept though. I also never like to bid on things to buy them. I choose to buy them outright buy it now.
Hi Jocelyn I am a long time fan of yours and here is a suggestion about a stack of dishes or an item that you want to purchase but do not match is you could ask the manager to separate and purchase it. I always find lids that do not go with the item and if I need that item my thrift shop always separates for me and gives me a bargain. Love your show and enjoy watching always.
I've been more of an observer on whatnot. I have mixed feelings about it. A lot of what sells on there does not sell for a lot of money, just my observation. A lot of buyers are looking for glass, especially uranium that glows, swung vases, murano, fenton, etc. A lot of sellers also say they have a hard time getting followers. Good luck, I'll be tuning in. Also, be careful, some people can be snarky and say mean things.
I have that big basset hound. I’ve had it 40 years
You should resell the vintage laundry baskets you get. They sell for a lot since they were much better quality back then.
I’m so excited for your first whatnot show! As soon as you said it I went and bookmarked it. I was the 500th person to do so! I’m Neese’s Pieces on whatnot. I’ve been watching your videos for years and have learned so much from you! The whatnot community is awesome and I’m so glad you’re going to be apart of it!
Love your new adventure. You never now WHAT NOT if you don’t try it. Love ya girl keep it up!
I'm sure you'll ROCK what not!
Yes, that was a Seattle Starbuck’s coffee cup!
I think it was a Souvenir. It didn't say Starbucks anywhere.
Good luck on whatnot! Hope you make lots of sales:
.
Good Luck on your whatnot sale. I also really liked that teapot with the dots on it, cool item.
The Royal Sealy is amazing!! I've never seen that before ... or even heard of it!!
Don't give up ebay. Not all of us like whatnot
Interested to see you do the cart review at the end. Guessing it saves buyer regret. Good luck with the WhatNot 🤞
Because of you I now do a cart review at the end. Smart move.
As a big fan of stained glass (and a former maker of it, too) I'm always sorry to see you pass by stained glass items like the star ornament near the beginning. Since it is handmade, it deserves a little more respect than it usually gets, IMO. Update: on second viewing, it looked to be broken. Still sad!
oh my I got so excited when you said the Hallmark snow figures were so valuable. I have 4, I have the one you showed with the oven.
I have the one with the dog in the doghouse.
You got some.great items. Have a wonderful day. 😊
You are wonderful, Jocelyn !!
Back in the 80's the Mary E stuff used to be very desired items. People would fly into Portland, Oregon for great variety of fabric stores we had at that time, in particular The Daisy Kingdom which was a bit of a high end fabric store - about a quarter of the store was fabric & collectibles designed by Mary E.
It was a very sad day when Daisy Kingdom closed their doors & I really haven't seen any of her products outside of catalogs since then. Sorry that the one you looked at had the chip, but you have a little back story, at least from this peanut gallery, on those products.
Ohhh I remember Daisy Kingdom! Thank you for the memory! I am also in Portland, OR, hello neighbor! 😊
@@LindaKayHolevas Hi Linda, which part? I'm in No Portland.
@@ameliainpdx1775 I am SE Portland, but grew up in Gresham :) It’s fun seeing my neighbors on such a big platform such as UA-cam:)
@@LindaKayHolevas Was born at Wilcox Memorial, which was absorbed into Goid Sam years ago. The first place I remember was our apartment above what is now Ross Island Gricery on Corbett now a historic landmark. We lived on NW 21st & Vaughan until forced to move for I-405 building & then above Bess Kaiser & now I am by Holy Redeemer. So the only area I really haven't lived in/clise to is SE PDX. Most of family has moved iut area or have died off due age or medjcal priblems. My dad was a native Portlander, so I guess I come by being here naturally.
I wish you had kept the Mary Englebrite Santa. She has a quirky style like no other.
I love Mary Englebriet ♥️
I've signed up for Whatnot...close to 100 folks following you already....it's going to be interesting..... All the best!!!! 💕 from BC Canada
I'm sure you will do just fine on Whatnot! You have a big following so it will be great !
I tried whatnot and couldn't give stuff away. You almost have to have a youtube following to sell anything. Its terrible for us small fries
Mary I am pretty sure they are!
She said that she would get a small kickback at the end of the video.
@@marydumois4242 Why slam this channel's creator for making money? after all, it's not her fault you haven't been successful on Whatnot
I have made money on WhatNot zero social media following estate sales and vintage “VintageChick”
Whatnot is horrible.
Deleted it after the first week.
Don’t need it since eBay does well for me.
I would’ve gotten that Bristol blue glass bottle and taken the rest of the paint off because paint was already missing, but the glass was such a beautiful color and shape.
I think you'll do well on whatnot because you have such a following. It's fast paced. Some great items today. I've never seen a keyball. Pretty cool
I wish you much luck on what not. Looking forward to seeing you.😊
I sell a lot of little figurines on Whatnot, it's a great way for buyers to get a cheaper item with cheap shipping so they can save on bigger more expensive items with higher shipping. Bookmarked your new show on the 8th!
With the prices that Goodwill is charging now, I wouldn’t even hesitate at cutting the packing tape apart to see if that piece was from Prussia! If they’re going to tape it like that, I want to know what I’m buying, and I want to be able to look at it.!!!
We're blessed at our local GWs - they use shrink wrap - the Saran wrap like stuff they use to wrap things when you move. It's wonderful - you don't have to worry about it pulling off color or anything or leaving sticky residue. I would think it would be cheaper too. Too bad they don't all do that! Works like cling wrap - so a really good hold.
I wish you would have got the strange vase. I would have definitely bought it on whatnot.
Strapping in your coffee ☕️ 😆 🤣. You're off to a good start.
You can’t go wrong buying Christmas and Halloween/Fall. Just stash it and you’ll have next season.
Sometimes you don't haveto stash it. You would be surprised how many people would buy it and put it up in their Christmas stash.
Good call on what you put back.
The black houses would go great on your mantel in summer with sunflowers or what not
Ooo I like!!!
I lmfao when you said, but she's a figurine and she doesn't have feelings.😂😂😂
I’m looking forward to seeing your Whatnot show. 😁
Awesome 😍 best of luck Jocelyn!! I know you're going to be AMAZING ❤️
That "cut to clear" item at 11:11 is a glass hookah base. Some of them make fun decanters (but not that one, lol)
I like what you got for whatnot and I wish you the best of luck for hour first live sale you will rock it see you then🤗❤
when is your old storage area going to be opened as an antique shop? I saw some time ago where you were working on it.
That dog was musical
Yeah! Time for a CLL video
Good luck on your 1st WhatNot sale!😃
I found a glass clown in a grab bag. I had it appraised. It was $4.99 that came with Dept 56 as well. The appraiser returned with a $450-$500 value on the glass clown. Now it has a broken tip on his hat. How much does that affect the item? I would love your feedback. However, I know you can’t answer all emails
I get good money for the hallmark singing figures. Also Christmas sells all teal long and so does Mary Englebright (so). ❤
I have never Herd of what not.will look it up. Got my sandwich glass books Omg a wealth of information for me to learn. Huge book set of 5 . U are lucky to be able to take the cart out. Here in Sacramento cal . We can not take the carts out of the store.thay have tall polls on them to prevent them from going out the doors. Homeless use them as rolling homes.
"Your freckles are cute & I like you"! I feel the same way about you Jocelyn!! Merry/Happy to you!!
Oh No!! Left all the $1.99 Charlie Brown bubble bath on the shelf. ARGH!
Whoa I passed up the baking snowman a couple days ago. Crazy!
You are the Crazy Lamp Lady! Get the lamps!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
You filled your cart. It's gonna be a good Whatnot sale.
I believe the tea pot with the black dots and gold rim is from Walmart. I had a dish that matched.
Key balls are the bomb diggity!! Who knew?
It is hard to believe this goodwill is not far from me and is so neat and tidy! Both of mine are complete disasters!!!!
Christmas is good all year around so you can stock up!!
I'm a Virgo and I'm a worrier for sure! Not sure how observant I am :)
If you get a chance, my first show is Jan 3rd at 130pm est
I think the Japanese woman shaving the guy figurine may have been Hakata Urasuki Dolls. Not sure but if it is still there next time you go, might want to check! :)
Jan 6 is three kings day. Still Christmas celebration in different countries.
That vintage Rubbermaid laundry basket is worth good money. I have about eight of them. Won't part with any of them.
CLL must SELL lamps!!
On Your whatnotdon’t pay a lot for things you put on there because they do not make a lot just don’t want you to lose on your money you put into it thanks for the video I enjoyed it catch you on the next one and
I found a key ball in Savers for 7.00 dlls and I sold it for 65 😀
What not sales are fun
Where and how do you find lampshades that compliment your lamps?
I would love the basset hound.
