In the early 80s I had a friend at school who told me his dad went to school with Keith in Wembley. I got the impression he was a bit wild there too. Several years later his dad bumped into Keith when he was by then a famous rock musician. Oddly enough they just chatted together as if no time had passed at all.
@Compliment_Thief I do get your point. Some celebs don't want to talk with people at all, especially those people they think they have 'moved on from'. Some are very down to earth, humble and engaging. In his adulthood Keith had a habit of acting like a country squire, affecting a posh accent and wearing shooting-set tweeds etc, somewhat incongruous with his working class origins. Such a great drummer.
I'm surprised any hotel would ever let the Who stay in it! Keith was a great drummer, but I swear he had a screw loose, or several for that matter.😵💫🫨
He was a bit of a smart ass. I wonder if he did not go the same way as Brian Jones - He offended the wrong person and nobody every found out about it. Odd that he died in the same bedroom as Mama Cass.
“Funny?” I think this would not be well received or have hosts laughing on camera in present time 2024. Its not funny then, but the mindset must have been different. And Steve Martin lacked moral judgment.
Keith was an embodiment of entropy and the chaotic forces of the Universe.
Steve Martin said it best: "What a man! What a man!"
"What a child! What a child!"
That's a very polished and clipped BBC style voice.Wasnt expecting that old chap.
AWESOME. I've never seen this

That’s not really odd that two old friends meet and chat like old times. It’s exceptionally normal.

@@iainholmes2735 he was a fantastically talented man with some monumental demons as well as mental health afflictions.
@@Compliment_Thief agreed.

They didnt call him "Looney Moon" for nothing.
Touring with Herman's Hermits in 1967 taught The WHO a whole lot about hotels , partying and over indulgence .
was a crazy, mad man, in good sense
He provided a little drama for the Who.
@@DonLeist "Little".......?
keith had a posh accent like his friend Oliver Reed
He didn't speak like that naturally. He put it on for effect like a lot of his behaviour.
This is who the Muppets character Animal is based on
Yes
No it's based on Mick Fleetwood
@tootsy1100 based on an amalgam as Frank Oz stated in an interview
He once demanded to be taken back to his hotel. He'd forgotten to smash the room up!
He'd forgotten to throw the t.v. out the window.
this is so sad ...
The Aristocats effect, eh?
He was mates with Oliver Reed and started copying his voice at this time, but the poor bastard was smashed out of his brains.
Yes Oliver lived near Dorking at the time Keith was always at his Manor House
He spoke like that well before he met Oliver.
No, Keith adopted the finely cut accent of The Who's first Manager, Kit Lambert.
if only he had the meds we have today he might be alive
I'm from Copenhagen.
Wonder what hotel Keith trashed there .....
Hope they payed for the damage..........
He was the best drummer anyway.

How exactly did Brian die wasn’t it drug od then drowning in a pool?
I heard something like that from someone very closely associated with The Who.
@@Cameraman61 please tell me more I’m only 17 I really wasn’t around during that time, from what I heard was that Keith Moon died on drugs or Alcohol.
He sure wasn't very bright..
Bs.

You sound like a real stick in the mud with no humor.
