The short stories in Stephen King’s Different Seasons are iconic. Two of the short stories were adapted into the films The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me. I 100% understand it when people don’t like or read short stories, but that four short story collection is worth your time in my opinion!
Just wanted to say that I'm with you on the TJ Klune thing. I read one of his older works, and it was the most misogynistic book I've ever read. He was later called out for it, and his response was not... great. So I'm glad I'm not thr only one disliking his works!

My mom who is massively picky with high ratings, isn't a huge fantasy reader and hates series, just finished Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, raved about it and gave it 5 stars and immediately bought and started the second one. So I think it's safe to assume it's good☺ I haven't seen her love a book this much in quite a while 💓

Emily wilde was my favorite book of last last year so I try to encourage everyone to give it a try lol, and I feel like once you get a few chapters in the story really takes off and feels so immersive, at least that’s how it was for me :)) love your vids

I loved Emily Wilde but also, I acknowledge it’s a bit dense. I was so into it I didn’t mind that, so if you didn’t feel hooked and you’re not interested in continuing the series, I don’t see it bringing you much enjoyment in the long term. Hope that helps a little ❤

And I say this as someone who enjoyed Reid's book Juniper and Thorn. So I'm not just being a hater. I love the Emily Wilde books! Some of my favorite reads of the last couple years. I say continue reading Book 1 until Wendell Bambleby shows up about 1/3rd of the way in. Most ppl love the books because of Emily & Wendell's dynamic. The first novel truly kicks off once he comes to town.

I have the Essex serpent sitting in a donation bag at the moment. I agree the cover is gorgeous but the story is very weird in a boring way with a lot of metaphors. Also though A House with Good Bones is one of my favorites can’t believe you’re donating 😢!

I read A Study in Drowning in February and I haven't stopped thinking about. Very Folk Horror-Esque (well, the YA Version of it), Women that are wronged, GORGEOUS Setting (the Worldbuilding is inspired by the Welsh Coast, really reminded me of Scottish and Irish Fisher Towns too). I rest my case you have to give it a go. It is the Law.
Finally a book tuber with my taste in books! I am so sick of all those vapid modern romance ones everyone raves over that are smut in a thin veneer of plot.

Firstly, I absolutely loved Curse of the Reaper and I haven't heard a single other person even mention its existence. Secondly, if you have black mouth I will 10,000% take ur copy, because it's the only Ronald Malfi I've read and I loved it.
Get rid of Sister Maiden Monster, the people who say it's good are lying to you. Also, get rid of Echo. It was my worst book of 2023 (coming right after rating Hex my best book of 2022, which is by the same author) Emily Wilde is cute. I personally didn't love the second one but the first one I gave 5 stars.
Echo was not worth the time it took to read it. It keeps edging you like it's going to be like Hex and never gets there. There's way too much focus on relationship drama

But the story idea was pretty cool and the location as well. I wasn't a fan of Encyclopedia however, despite really trying. I found it very boring and too much information dump. I did read part two as well because I thought part two would be them going into Wendell's world and I hoped that would be more fun but nope lol.
Don't keep White Horse, do keep the Sundial. It's one of Ward's best books, but the former is corny, gets too comfortable forgiving casual abuse, and the writer isn't actually indigenous from the research I've done that comes from indigenous people. Plus the MC is an old Pick Me type
Black Mouth was also terrible. It's essentially IT by Stephen King but worse and I say this as Stephen King's #1 hater 😆. I found every character problematic/frustrating in one way or another. The female character gives manic pixie disaster vibes. The main character is your typical sad alcoholic who needs to go back and deal with his demons. The disabled character is basically a plot device. Don't even get me started about the character with Vitiligo.
