    So I was given this hammock for christmas the past year and I've never had much opportunity to use it given that i'm a busy college student. But I've decided i'm going to take it to the park with me and just hang out while doing homework. I've been watching videos on how to set it up and your video was really helpful so thank you so much!

    a really good knot to use on hammocks is either the taut line or 2 half hitches. This lets you ajust it after you have already tied it and is really easy to untie

    The most comfortable way to lay on a hammock is on the diagonal. It helps you lay more flat so prevents any back pain. After spending years in a tent it took me only one night in a hammock to make that my only sleep system for camping out in the woods! But I have a Warbonnet Blackbird, which is one of the highest rated among hanging enthusiasts.

    If you are ever worried about the knots, you can put a small carabiner through the slip knot, or even put the tail from the knot back through. I've done both on my ENO. Thanks for the video.

    A really well produced vid . Indont know you or if you have tried a warbonett blackbird hammock yet . If your going to camp year round in all weather conditions , i seriously reccomend u do try one . Yes they are substantially higher in price . Not everything do you get what you pay for . In this case you will . Ive got hennesseys , wrbnts , and enos . For comfort , durability , ease of use , the warbonett has got em all beat , hands down . Their mambajama tarp is great too . But in dry weather i use a bcusa tarp for good airflow and waterprooofness . The eno hmmks are just not durable in the long term or heavy use .

    • @BlackOwlOutdoors

    I couldn't imagine that much work with the straps on a backpacking trip, especially at night, in the wind, or rain. I can have my Warbonnet Blackbird AND Superfly tarp set up in 7 minutes or less in the rain at night. I recommend you try the WB Blackbird hammock - extremely light weight, super easy set up and take down, and the best sleep ever.. :) (Love the intro to your vid!)

    • @geraldhenrickson7472
      @geraldhenrickson7472 9 років тому +1

      AugustHawk That is the trade off...spend more money, get the convenience of quick set up. I was out in the woods and forgot all my rigging. I used my belt, my backpack and some clothesline to set up. It took awhile y7et did not matter, still had fun. I totally agree...the superfly is the best tarp going if you gunna have just one tarp. And its reasonable priced too! I am still experimenting with hammocks, seeking less shoulder squeeze. Hike on!

    The harsh UV rays of the sun will damage everything overtime. Depending on the types of trees you use to hang your hammock, they should offer shade most of the day which will protect the hammock. And you gotta watch out for the wind. The hammock will act like a sail. You should tie the hammock closed with cordage or something.. Then the wind can't open it up. I've tried to use the hammock as a sail while riding my skateboard. It worked. -Krik

  • @luckyswine

    Yeah - DD is heavier spec material and is bulkier to pack. Mine has an integrated bug net which is useful for the Scottish summers but I like the looks of the ENO for a lighter switch out.

    How does this compare to the trek light hammocks, they look exactly the same. Im trying to decide between the two, I know the trek light is apparently slightly longer and wider, also trek light has some good bundle packages it seems. But is there really any difference between the two????

  • @fadedfangs4694
    @fadedfangs4694 4 роки тому

    BTW you can get a 2 pack of straps off ebay that. Are a little easier than nylon webbing for like $8 but they are kinda Daisy chain style I got some that work really well and are super easy to set up up just thread through the loop pull tight to tree hook your hammock in and then lay in the hammock has also seemed to help my hammocks lay a little too cause I can adjust it easier than when I had nylon webbing

    Perfect review. Thanks! I just got a Doublenest and didn't realize that it didn't come with webbing. I might try some mid-line loops in it (to mimic the slap strap), but a quick release, as you're doing it, may be quicker and easier to get the hammock exactly how high you want it....any thoughts on the two methods?

    That really depends on how bad the bugs are. Some times of the year a bug net is not necessary. Other times, they are 100% necessary. And it also depends where your location. Here in Pennsylvania during the summer, mosquitoes can get quite aggressive. -Krik

    New Sub:: Nicely done. I've got this hammock and overall I'm happy with the quality... I just need to learn how to "drive it". I'm going to give your strap idea a go... the nylon ropes I've used have wound up stretching to the point that my butt winds up on the ground. (I'm a load, so it's not the rope's fault...) So concurrent with trying to "lighten" the load I'm going to see if stiffer straps help.
