@paul w Not sure why you would laugh at someone who is sharing their experience. Obviously, Nathan found this to be a profound and meaningful text why try to disavow him from that with mockery even if you find part of his statement not aligned with your core beliefs?
I think it tells us what we already know, but what it says in the start is really true, all the scriptures say it. Not even just the vedas most of the major religions say the same things, just prioritizing them differently. Namaste
Astavakra Gita: The Avadhuta Gita and Astavakra Gita are probably the most humbling answers to the most important and pivotal query asked in the whole of the Great Bhagavad Gita; Oh my Dear Lord, how am I to understand who I am? Please be merciful and tell me for my existence rests only on this knowledge and surrendered devotional practice. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8 Ofcourse it is revealed better in Chapter 13 and 15 however Avadhuta Gita and Astavakra Gita explain this clear cut like the sword. --- Religious merit, sensory pleasures, worldly prosperity, discrimination between this and that - these have no significance to the yogi free of duality. Thus advaita vedanta is. Hari Aum 🙏🙏🙏🕉🙏🙏🙏

If you want a deeper understanding, put on noise cancelling headphones, hit play, close your eyes, and imagine that you're dreaming. In this dream you pick up your phone, go to UA-cam, and decide to watch this video. While watching the video you also decide to browse some of the comments and maybe you have a little snack and drink a little bit of water or coffee. Make the dream as real as possible but don't lose sight of the fact that you are dreaming. From this perspective you will gain a much deeper understanding of this teaching. And many other Buddhist, Taoist, and hindu teachings. Please try it out and tell me what you think. Also in the dream, pretend that you are already supremely enlightened while you're watching the video on your laptop or phone.

If everything is illusory, how can there be pure consciousness. If there is pure consciousness we have to see it with a non existent mind so how can consciousness be real . There is no reality. So how can consciousness exist. As there is nothing outside ones imagination. There are no scriptures , no gods ,no truth ,so how does consciousness exist, how can it be possible and if the mind is illusory so is the world and us as well . How can consciousness exist in an illusion. Just an interesting query. Thank you
Pure consciousness is beyond words, thought, emotion, ego... Essentially, it is samadhi or an extremely deep state of meditation where your ego and attachment to sense objects are completely extinguished and all that remains is that faint awareness that only you exist.
Two things that I find that makes me sad: 1. You didn't read the Sanskrit verse followed by the English translation, and 2. You say "Self" instead of Atman (pronounced Aathmun in case people don't know). I find it meaningless to translate Atman as Self.
"Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All." It is not happening to me. It is happening for me.
This is the most potent scripture on Earth and if one is fully qualified upon listening and or reading it then he/she will irrevocably awaken.
Have you read the Ribhu-Gita?

Once the ego has been extinguished the true self is unfettered to witness the rising and subsiding of thoughts. It's simple and yet seemingly elusive.
