When the Eagles defeated America's Team the Dallas Cowboys in the 1980 NFC Championship Game and advanced to Super Bowl XV, it became 1 of the greatest sports moments in Philadelphia Sports History.
Was at that game as a 16 year old with my father. Very cold and windy day. One of the loudest crowds I can ever remember when Montgomery scored that first TD. That was a team that should have won a Super Bowl.
I Have That 1980 NFC Championship Game Vs Dallas on DVD and Can’t Believe How Cold It Was That Even Though The Sun Was Out After The First Part of The Game Was Cloudy!
1980 was a good season as a eagle supporter since 1980 the afc was stack in 1980 that yr kind of remind me of the 19991 NFC was jim Plunckit was thrown darts in supper 16
Its like my uncle use to tell me sometimes the better team doesnt win. The eagles were the better team and lost in superbowl 15. The eagles beat oakland 10-7 in 1980 regular season and their defense did a great job and sacked plunkett 11 times. Other examples were namath beating the 21 point favorite colts in superbowl 3 and the raiders beating an outstanding redskins team in superbowl. If namath and the jets would have played that colt s team in 9 other games he would have lost all nine.
I was 13 when my dad took me to see the Eagles/Vikings playoff game. Remarkable season. The Eagles should have easily beat the Raiders but Jaworski choked big time.
You can't forget the men that led the Eagles to their first attempt for the Lombardi trophy. Harold Carmichael, Bill Bergey, Frankie LeMaster, T-Bone Parker, Denny Franks, Ron Jaworski, and the legendary Dick Vermeil
The hall of fame should be ashamed of themselves for keeping Harold Carmichael waiting so many years to get in the hall of fame!!!!! SHAME ON THEM!!!!!
Hate much? Keep our bigoted comments out of here. Better to keep you mouth shut and let everyone think you are an idiot, than to open mouth and remove all doubt.
i absolutely love when racists point out their own stupidity. there was no reason to point out he is Polish, had nothing to do with your comment. but spelling Polak wrong and showing your own stupidity is priceless. damn, morons make like so humorous.
In The "America's Game" episode about the 1980 Oakland Raiders season, Jim Plunkett and Gene Upshaw remarked that coach Tom Flores allowed his players a couple of days to enjoy New Orleans, thus giving everyone a relaxed sense of confidence come game time. The Eagles players were not (supposedly) really allowed the same opportunity to enjoy the wonders of the city.

I would say the Phillies winning the 1980 series was the biggest.
The image quality of this video is amazing. I love watching NFL Film just before the season get started to get me pumped up.

The Late John Facenda the Voice of God.
actually in this era (1980) the voice of god would have been George Burns.

1 of the 4 Philadelphia Eagles teams to reach the Super Bowl was that 1980 season.

Beginning about 19:24 -- does anyone know the name of the lady singing "God Bless America" ???
Andrea McCardle. She was big in Philly in the late 1970's - early 1980's.
She played Annie in the Broadway play. She was from Philly.
Still can't believe this Eagles squad beat the Cowboys in the NFC championship
They wanted it and Vermeil had them ready.
JAWS the POLISH RIFLE

Short like drew Brees
@@ericsigersmith2831 Jaws was is 6'2- 6'3. Brees claims to be 6'0, he is 5'11 at best

I was pleased with how easily the Raiders handled the Eagles. Rod Martin was fantastic.
Well when the cowboys haven’t made it past the divisional round since the 1995 season you got to celebrate something
