@Musical Box i was going to give you a sound response UNTIL I saw your name, "Musical Box", such a great name to comment on the NFL which supports your lack of true pro football knowledge. Stick to butterfly carousel music boxes and I will talk to someone else about the 1969 NFL player of the year.
Mike McCormick did a good job in rebuilding the Eagles during his 3 years on the job. But it was his personnel decisions that led to both the teams demise and his dismissal in 1975, trading away future high draft picks for players who could help "quick fix" the team he was trying to rebuild on the fly. The Eagles did not have a 1st or 2nd round draft pick from 1974 to 1978, leaving his successor Dick Vermeil without those assets he needed to rebuild the Eagles when he took over as head coach in 1976. But McCormick did leave Vermeil with some good pieces on both the offense and defense side of the ball and 10 players who played for McCormick from 1973 to 1975 were on the Eagles in 1980 when they made it to the Super Bowl.
In 1973-1974 season Eagles had 3-game improvement in victories over season prior, 1972-1973, when they went 2-11-1. They went 5-8-1 that 1973-1974 season
I think his 6' 8" , 225 pound frame had something to do with that " crazy " decision, but since you can see 14 years into the future, you missed your calling as an NFL talent evaluator.
@@davidcobb2693 - thanks. Its about damn time i get some fuckin’ recognition! 😂 In all seriousness though, my conclusion is based on leverage and how his height would be a detriment when it came to blocking- a skill much more important as a tight end than a receiver.
Did you notice when he said (around 6:40l all 40 men rejoiced in their success ? Only 40 men on the team! I remember Alex Karris on an interview saying rivals were more intense because there were only 34 player on a team so you knew them all. Can you imagine? 34 players on an NFL team?
@@thespy7795 you’re entitled to your opinion this has nothing to do with the past the Eagles colors are white and Kelly green…. Get rid of the black dark unrecognizable scheme.
@@michaelleroy9281 again it has nothing to do with the era when they wore those uniforms the present scheme is unrecognizable it has no color it has no punch. The colors are white and Kelly green dominate the uniform with that.
I love these white helmets. They look really nice and clean.
They were the best!!
👍🇺🇸
That hit on Staubach at 8:47 would've got 71 suspended for life in todays game lol but I love it
23-23 tie in last Giants game at Yankee Stadium. Classic history
Those 70s eagles uniforms tho!
Believe it or not, there are some Eagles on this 73 team that would be with them in 1980. The year they played in Super Bowl XV
why is that hard to believe? back then, players stuck with a team for years, especially if they were good.
@@steveswangler6373 Free agency
I didnt think free agency was an official thing until 1993 lol
@Musical Box Free agency existed in 1973. However, free agency as we know it today started in 1993.
Today Army wants to join you.
Can't go wrong with Gabriel. As a kid I used to hate those simple white helmets but now I think they are classy.

@Musical Box Ballerina Music Boxes = I "rest my case"
@Musical Box Finally, now you're talking sense. No one tougher than Joe Kapp.
The green wings really stand out against the white helmets. Would love to see us go to a super frosty silver helmet with green wings.
NO!!!!!
The Eagles uniforms and helmets are fine now leave the past in the past this season was 51 years ago
Even though they went 5 - 8 - 1; that 1973 Team was not that Bad.
Gabriel was still good but ol was bad and defense was awful

Last season with the Eagles having those white helmets.

Pretty simple, get the ball to Harold Carmichael
What were they thinking having Carmichael play TE his first two years? Thats crazy. 😂

@@tweezerjam Harold Carmichael was a unique talent but at 225 pounds he was too small ( light ) to play TE.
@@davidcobb2693 if Harold Carmichael were another 25 pounds, he could play tight end.
@@mikevanriel7573 Maybe, but 25 extra pounds may not have been kind to his lower body joints.
The Eagles took a big step forward in 73 from the 72 season disaster. 74 was another small step forward. Then the bottom dropped out in 75.

hey folks check out 18:25 you have to turn the audio up to appreciate it
Effin hilarious 😂🤣✌👍
Uniforms so much cleaner and neat ,Eagles simple green and white,Patriots ,Bills all cool..Redskins,,gold pants
There were too many white helmets at that time the entire AFC east had all white helmets
@@michaelleroy9281... until the Jets switched to green helmets in 1978, and then the Bills switched to red helmets in '84
Notice how small O lineman were then?? I've seen kickers who are bigger.
11:23 Don't touch my arm Mr. Ref!
Love those white helmets
The Best!
Always wondered why they had the goalposts in that spot back then
That was the last season it was that way
3:28 Roman Gabriel was so crazy with that shaving cream on his face, maybe he was doing some point shaving in this game.
You may have a point.
As I recall, he had some skin condition.
And I cannot tell whether that is cream or medical tape.
The Eagles wore white jerseys in every game in 1973 except one, at Dallas
Fumble turnover on the first touch…Hum! I never did that!
Love the Army ad at 15:30
I want to be 14 again if just for 1 Sunday
Man do I hate Dallas.. Go birds forever
Go Cowboys!
Spencerpearson3986 yea go team that hasn’t made it past the divisional round since the 1995 season
How bout them Cowboys
Eagles please bring back this uniform ….the helmet with a green mask would look awesome vs the crap you wear today
The Eagles uniforms are just fine. Leave the past in the past.
Sorry, you can't bring things back to the way they were in 1973
