Believe it or not, there are some Eagles on this 73 team that would be with them in 1980. The year they played in Super Bowl XV
why is that hard to believe? back then, players stuck with a team for years, especially if they were good.

@Musical Box Free agency existed in 1973. However, free agency as we know it today started in 1993.
Even though they went 5 - 8 - 1; that 1973 Team was not that Bad.
Gabriel was still good but ol was bad and defense was awful
Mike McCormick did a good job in rebuilding the Eagles during his 3 years on the job. But it was his personnel decisions that led to both the teams demise and his dismissal in 1975, trading away future high draft picks for players who could help "quick fix" the team he was trying to rebuild on the fly. The Eagles did not have a 1st or 2nd round draft pick from 1974 to 1978, leaving his successor Dick Vermeil without those assets he needed to rebuild the Eagles when he took over as head coach in 1976. But McCormick did leave Vermeil with some good pieces on both the offense and defense side of the ball and 10 players who played for McCormick from 1973 to 1975 were on the Eagles in 1980 when they made it to the Super Bowl.

Can't go wrong with Gabriel. As a kid I used to hate those simple white helmets but now I think they are classy.

What were they thinking having Carmichael play TE his first two years? Thats crazy. 😂
I think his 6' 8" , 225 pound frame had something to do with that " crazy " decision, but since you can see 14 years into the future, you missed your calling as an NFL talent evaluator.

In all seriousness though, my conclusion is based on leverage and how his height would be a detriment when it came to blocking- a skill much more important as a tight end than a receiver.
@@tweezerjam Harold Carmichael was a unique talent but at 225 pounds he was too small ( light ) to play TE.

In 1973-1974 season Eagles had 3-game improvement in victories over season prior, 1972-1973, when they went 2-11-1. They went 5-8-1 that 1973-1974 season

Did you notice when he said (around 6:40l all 40 men rejoiced in their success ? Only 40 men on the team! I remember Alex Karris on an interview saying rivals were more intense because there were only 34 player on a team so you knew them all. Can you imagine? 34 players on an NFL team?
Notice how small O lineman were then?? I've seen kickers who are bigger.

@@thespy7795 you’re entitled to your opinion this has nothing to do with the past the Eagles colors are white and Kelly green…. Get rid of the black dark unrecognizable scheme.
@@michaelleroy9281 again it has nothing to do with the era when they wore those uniforms the present scheme is unrecognizable it has no color it has no punch. The colors are white and Kelly green dominate the uniform with that.
