People need to stop pussyfooting around the replacement for Chester. Nobody here is replacing him, they are just moving on. Chester himself replaced the singer of STP. ACDC did it. Alice in Chains did it. LP is as much Mikes band as it is Chesters. People should be happy we are getting new music.
It’s a bit complicated. For a lot of people, Linkin Park without Chester isn’t complete, and while I can understand that the band wants to move on, I feel like she should’ve been brought in as a guest vocalist. But yes, a part of that process does involve things like this, so I can understand.
Completely agree. When Chester died, I got over it in about a few days. It took the band seven years and during that time Mike would do live streams and the fans would constantly keep asking him personal questions about Chester. When they released the Lost single, it seemed like a cash grab and huge fan service. It all just felt extremely twisted and creepy. Now, even with a new vocalist, an album announcement and tour, every comment is Chester this Chester that. I'm so sick of it.
It brought tears to my eyes, and I was speechless for about 30 minutes. I’m very happy that she’s not replacing Chester, but I’m also happy that they picked her, I think she’s a great addition.
Change is difficult. Chester meant so much to so many people. His voice got me through some of the darkest parts of my life. When he passed it hit me hard. But it’s been almost a decade and they spent the time necessary to grieve and process everything. I can’t imagine the pressure she felt stepping up to that role. I’m glad they are back. This is a good step forward for them. Mike even said during the live “in the role of Mr. Chester Bennington, all of you” he knows that the fans and the band are keeping his memory alive. Chester will never be forgotten, but I’m glad to see them moving forward.
I agree man as a fan who has literally been listening since the Hybrid Theory record dropped it's going to be difficult extremely difficult and I wish them all the best and I hope they go out there and kill it but it's just not going to be the same but I am glad they are moving on and doing what they love to do with the people they would love to do it with
Story Time: I met Mike and Chester at Ozzfest in Hartford Connecticut. Our Band "Obsolete" went together to watch and we ran into them in the venue at the front by the beer. They were handing out a white cassettes with i think 2 songs on it. I grabbed a cassette from them as we continued to have a conversation with them for about a half hour. They were cool as hell and had a great conversation with them that I have still yet to forget. Talking about our bands and their start to rise and popularity. Months later they were known by many.

Thank you for your opening words. Numb saved my life and Breaking The Habit helped me in my recovery. I cried for DAYS when Chester died! Especially knowing that his vocals sang the song that helped me so much and he didn't have anyone helping him.... RIP Chester. Welcome Emily
I wish Emily Armstrong all the best and hope that this new Linkin Park is successful. I also hope this helps them move forward. RIP Chester you will always be missed.
Also, I'm glad Brad is still here. For a moment I thought he wasn't with the group anymore, but that didnt make so much sense since he's well involved. Excited for this new era.
Supporting Emily all the way. It's going to be so exciting to hear new songs with her vocals. Yeah, people say this and that about yesterday's performance, but she is filling big shoes, there was nervousness but she did so effin great
I’m relieved and glad cause she has those voice qualities to pull off the songs. Harsh to pretty. Yelling choruses are on point. I still feel pain and the fact that it sounds different. I miss Chester and his voice and nuances.
Let's give thier new Singer a chance to make her place, Chester was for me the heart and soul of Linkin park , will see what happens in the future if was the right choice
@@TSGWPGI’m not gonna say she’s talentless or anything but this is a really BAD idea. Like the fans wanna cash in on the nu metal nostalgia wave for stuff from 2000-07 and this isn’t even gonna come close to replicating any of it
Honestly I liked it. But I also tried going into it by not comparing it to the old linkin park with chester and looking at it as a new band that just happens to have members from linkin park, and I enjoyed it. But I knew there would be backlash because some people aren't going to be as open minded and if chester isn't singing they won't like it. And I get that to an extent. He was very talented and is a one of a kind person and voice. He was / still is one of my favorite artists so I kind of get why some people won't like it, but it's a shame if they make good music to miss out on it because they can't let chester go. And then there's those who this music with her just isn't their cup of tea and that's okay too
@@Giratina1999 She is not great at all. She gasses in live performances, and she IS trying to sound like him. There were tons of better options, but they dont want to pay someone who should have got it. It is exactly a cashgrab. It is clear to see. She also has a lot of bad press about other things, and the way Chester went out.. It's not cool at all.
Honestly, i’m happy. Even tho i’m a huge Chester fan, i’m happy with their new singer. That show was awesome. It doesn’t even feel like she’s replacin’ Chester. She’s brought in her own vibe. That’s exactly the voice i was hopin’ for when i heard the ,,female singer” part in the interview with Jay Gordon
Dude, I totally agree with you Rockfeed. We all miss Chester and he will never be replaced. I hope all LP fans can just enjoy their new era I know I will
I grew up on Linkin Park and have been heartbroken over the loss of Chester since the day he left. But I will say I was very happy and proud when I watched this show tonight. I think she did a fantastic job especially given the amount of pressure she must be under. The band as a whole seems to be still trying to find their way back into it but everyone did a wonderful job and it was so fulfilling to see them all smiling and performing again like this. Even I was smiling most of the time and even a little emotional at times. I’m a very happy LP fan and let’s give Emily a chance!
She's did an amazing job! Loved it so much! She was fire 🔥 her voice was amazing! Brave Girl! ❤❤ I can't imagine how much pressure was on her yesterday.
@@TSGWPG I was unaware of her when I posted this. I didn't know she'd been in a band since 2003. Besides I think ANYONE would've been nervous stepping in to play with LP fulltime.
Well, Mike has always been the genius behing LP's success. Even though hearing anything but Chester 's screams and Rob's drums it's hard, life continues and so they have to! If Mike believes that these two members is what the band needs, then let's enjoy them!
I'm sorry but she sounded horrible live. Her voice was breaking throughout the concert and she was absolutely forcing her vocals, even tho they even tuned the instruments higher to fit her vocals.
Yeah, she sounded great if we were having chicken wings at the local bar during Karaoke night-not as the lead singer for one of the biggest bands in the world.
@@meganod279 Well, not horrible, just probably nerves + adrenaline + the desire to show what she can do + perhaps she hasn’t yet found how to appropriate the songs for herself. My only complaint is that she can only fry scream, I’m sure everything will be cool in her songs, but the old ones were written for a different performance.
The live show was awesome! Emily did a GREAT job for their first show. I’m sure she was super nervous but she really nailed most of it! Everyone talked shit about Alice In Chains and it ended up being just fine… I’m super excited and I can’t wait to see them live.
Im usually a positive person who always gives bands a chance who decide to reignite after a passing or a member whos left. But chester cannot be replaced. He was the voice and main instrument. I certainly wont be listening to any new material. I am so glad i got to see the real linkin park at download festival. Incredible and an experience i will treasure for life. RIP chester, your irreplaceable!
Yes… Chester cannot be replaced. But Mike is the mastermind behind LP. He’s the main songwriter and producer, on top of being the founder of the band. He should def have the final say if the band should continue. You are right to have your opinion tho and not listen to new stuff.
Bro thanks for calling for some grace on Emily. I went into the live showing with the expectation that no matter who the new singer is, it’s not gonna be Chester. Because I felt like that would’ve gave me a false expectation to expect a Chester Bennington look and sound alike. I think Emily did fantastic for the pressure she was probably under. And I think that means she can only improve from here. I really look forward to this new chapter for the band.
It makes sense that Jay Gordon had some insight about Emily because Dead By Sunrise are the guys from Orgy and Julien-k which were very close to Chester and the rest of LP
nah they just didnt want to pay someone what they should have for a lame cash grab. They literally chose a scientologist.. Who attacked Chester in his time of death.
@somersfamily yeah actually Jay Gordon does have alot to do with linkin park. First they were peers in the early 2000s. Jay did a remix with linkin park. They toured together. Pretty safe to say they are friends.
I acknowledge a lot of ppl's thoughts and opinions on the situation, Whether I agree or disagree on the matter it all comes down to we want great music. I truly think I have a great idea that brings a lot of ppl together. I think Linkin Park should rotate vocalist's every so often. Like maybe this month we have Emily Armstrong whilst next month or so we have Amy Lee.
Chester did so much for music and for the world. He's the reason I'm a metalhead. I am really happy about the new singer. They nailed it. I feel like if they picked someone who sounded like Chester, it would sound like a cheap knockoff. And if they picked a huge name, it would diminish chester's value. I am really excited to hear what Linkin Park do next
I'll admit I was one of those "it's not Linkin Park with out Chester" people and a part of me still feels that way. But after hear her today I think she going to be great. Linkin Park was one of the bands on my bucket list to see live and when Chester died i thought it was never going to happen. I would have loved to see them with Chester but today I feel like theirs hope for me to finally hear those song I grew up listening to live. I just hope they add more tour dates in the future.

Linkin Park could have went the AC/DC route. Hiring Brian Johnson to replace Bon Scott. But instead they went the 3 Days Grace route (Matt Walst to replace Adam Gontier). The livestream sounded like one of those random covers you find scrolling the tube at 2 am. Sure, it sounds kinda cool but something doesn't sound right.
@@Giratina1999 It’s actually not that bad. If you’ve ever listened to Matt Walst previous band (My Darkest Days). Then, it’s about what to expect. Edit: It might sound bad to you, mainly because it kinda has that “radio focused quality”.
I hope Emily will be respected by the community. As an old Linkin Park fan I admit I was very skeptical. But Emily is the best choice the band could've made. Her singing has similarities to Chester's but is unique enough to represent a new era. I think that going for a female lead singer was the best move to avoid the idea of a replacement. I am very happy with the return of Linkin Park and I Emily is so talented, can't wait for the new album.
i couldn't agree with you more, LP could easily create new music using A.i. for Chester's voice and a hologram for live performances. we live in an era where that technology is easily available and I think fans would be happier to see that then some girl singing Chester's parts. I don't wanna throw any hate towards this woman but why not just call the band something else? the original drummer is gone and chester has passed away so why not just create something new? They can easily use technology to do Linkin Park stuff using a hologram and a.i. but to come out saying your doing a new album of new music why not just call yourself something other than Linkin Park?
@@DarkPhoenix203Ct That would be depressing and dystopian as fuck. I don't like this new singer at all and think they should've just formed a new group, but idea is not it.

@@brdnl3 The fact that you even took the time to type this out is beyond me lmao. Do you read what you type? You honestly think mike would pick her just because shes a female? Scratch that, any of the band members would pick her cause shes a female? Mike is leading the reins but they're still a band and would all have to unanimously vote to have her in.
@@brdnl3 also if you'd maybe learn to read you'd know that Mike and the band have known emily for a few years now, that's more than enough time for her to prove herself to the band, so don't give that bs
It's like Nirvana without Kurt Cobain. Makes no sense. Let Linkin Park and Chester's memory hold its place where it belongs. I have nothing against them continuing on, just let it be something else. Its not the same without Chester. That sound just holds a nostalgia and special place in time. Let it be.
Love how people are entitled to say what a band should and shouldn’t do. Don’t support them if you don’t like what they’re doing otherwise keep it to yourself. 😁
@@nickm.9474 It's not about supporting or not supporting. It's about what makes sense. She simply doesn't fit the vibes or vocals. It was a huge flop of a concert.
The new single studio version is fire! I think Emily has the vocal chops and swagger to make it her own. And I really liked how she sang Chester's parts during the livestream.... she put her own spin on it. Looking forward to see what's next for them.
This makes all the sense in the world. The thing I like about shinoda, Is he's dedicated to his art & evolving it. He isn't looking to make a tribute band, and get a look alike & sound alike, he's taking a new direction, a new era for linkin park. Chester can't be replaced, and even if they got a look alike and sound alike, that isn't evolving their music, it's living in the past trying to rekindle old memories which also has a life expectancy that eventually dies out. I think this was a bold but good move, now it's really on her what she can bring to the table to already established, legendary band.
i actually think there is someone who would be able to replace chester by like 80-85% of the way......the lead singer from sum 41, we have alread seen him perform a chunk of LP's music and that it sounded close enough where it would be acceptable but the one thing he would have been missing is that very soft an d calm voice tone for some of the music. sum 41 also broke up so hes a free agent so if they wanted to replace chester as close as they could it would have been him.
It's weird not seeing chester and Rob on stage. I thought LP handled it well. Took their time to grieve and refocus. I think Emily will be fine in Linkin park
You are not a BAD fan if you say that Linkin Park is not the same without Chester. In my opinion, they should change the name of the band, it's just not the same anymore
I agree. She has a great voice and fits in well, but, if they’re truly trying to move on and evolve, create new music at least. I don’t doubt they would go far with her as the new singer with new music. But having her sing Chester’s parts of original songs is essentially replacing him and not really fair to her or their fans imo. I appreciate Mike trying to keep the band and music alive, but let the old LP music rest with Chester. I’m happy he’s reached the point in his grieving process to move on, but I hope he realizes the fact that there are fans still grieving. I’d hate to see their come back flop.
Agreed. I’m not a fan. Nothing against her as a singer, it’s just nothing close to the band I liked all those years. The older songs sound nothing like they did, different vibe everything.
@@mikebrezenski Then you move the fk on. This is life. They're not doing this to make any of you babies happy, they're doing it for themselves after the weak one tried to kill the band.
I'm looking forward to new Linkin Park material with Emily's vocals. I think that would be more easy for me to accept than covering the original content that Chester made legendary.
Cheers to Linkin Park for embarking on this new journey with Emily Armstrong! If Mike and the band trust her, I am going to be the air under their wings and support them with my whole heart!

@@Bestumpire yeah, I think the same remember the days when LP only had Hybrid Theory and had to perform the exact same song over and over again? well there's this option and the other (to do some covers before an album gets released)
The only question... is it really the best singer that you were able to find for a word class band? She is ok, but "ok" it's not the level you expecting from the LP. It should be best of the best with no doubts.
I think Chester is looking down from above and is happy that Linkin Park continues to make so many people happy, just like he did. Nobody will, can or should replace Chester and that is precisely why I think the album title is very fitting, because it is a new beginning. And I am for everything that comes next.

I’m glad they are doing something again. But something about it feels a little odd. I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad thing. I can’t quite put my finger on it. I think I need to give it a little more time to process this before I decide exactly how I feel. I think it’s like losing a parent and the other parent remarries. The child may take time to warm up to the new step parent. I’m not familiar with Emily, but it seems like she has talent. She definitely has courage for stepping in some hefty shoes and will be dealing with a lot of pressure. I hand her a lot of credit.
I watched the show and chester would be proud she not replace chester she carries on his legacy and would be damn proud of it. She can sing and scream it gave me cold chills
@@meganod279 we watched different shows then, i dont understand, she has the raspyness and does fries like chester did, chester wasnt the best guy at doing fry/drive screams, just look at sam carter from architects
@@Kabinbr We absolutely watched the same show, you just don't understand what musically fits a band. As a music producer myself with 2 decades playing the guitar, she absolutely couldn't handle those vocals in most tracks. Her cleans were not that bad, but when a group has to tune so high all the instruments to fit your vocals and your voice still breaks every single time while you try to sing higher or scream, then anybody can notice that something doesn't fit. Sam carter is absolutely different. Sam has been going on tour for so long that his screams started getting weaker and eventually kinda blew his voice. Emily on the other hand just had one show, and everybody can tell you that a new and younger singer should not be having such issues after one show. She absolutely forced her vocals and she simply wasn't able to reach them.
I am typically not much of a fan of female singers for some reason. I’ve never really understood why. So I’m not sure if she’ll do it for me personally, but I think LINKIN PARK made the best decision they could under the horrible circumstances of losing Chester and his iconic voice. There was no way that they could replace him with a male who sounded anywhere near what Chester sounded like. The smartest move they could make would be to have a woman who sounded like herself, but could sing their songs. I’ll give them a try, but honestly, it probably won’t really resonate with me due to not favoring female singers. I do though hope that she helps them find some of their previous success and fills the void for so many fans.
I think it’s amazing to have them back! LP being LP; evolving and changing it up from album to album and time to time. I love this evolution and so excited for what’s to come! Just so happy they are back! 🤘🏼

She's a cult member basically. If they want to continue that's upto them.. but I cannot support them anymore, I don't think she's the right fit for Linkin Park, if they wanted to continue with her they should start a new band with different name.

I was very excited about the thought of them getting back together and touring. From seeing Chester's replacement, it's a disappointment. They are entertainers and fans want something very similar. Thank you for your opening words. Numb saved my life and Breaking The Habit helped me in my recovery. I cried for DAYS when Chester died! Especially knowing that his vocals sang the song that helped me so much and he didn't have anyone helping him.... RIP Chester. Welcome Emily
She sounds good. Hope their new stuff is great!
I wish Emily Armstrong all the best and hope that this new Linkin Park is successful. I also hope this helps them move forward. RIP Chester you will always be missed.
I wish I could go to NY, I hope they add more US Dates in the new year. Chester would want the band to go forward…..
they said they will be "heavily" touring in 2025, so hopefully yes, this current 6 show world tour is before the album drops so its highly likely! :)
GOD speed to the band let's get the wheels turning
Yeah I was disappointed when I saw how few tour dates there were and how far away every single one is from me lol
i think he would want the band to go on, but i also think he would be really bummed if most of the fans weren't happy, but idk i never met the dude.
Im sure there are so few cos they are "testing the waters".
Emily sounded awesome. Never heard her before, but I really look forward to see where new Linkin Park goes
She couldn't hit the notes at all, what are you smoking??
Rob will be missed. But I'm happy to see them back. Will forever be my fav band.
Let's give thier new Singer a chance to make her place, Chester was for me the heart and soul of Linkin park , will see what happens in the future if was the right choice
Problem is, Emily isn’t a bad frontwoman by any means but she’s got too raspy of a voice from a totally different background. It’s not a good fit
@@Giratina1999 Yea she is a terrible fit, there is many reasons why that is.. But lets just call it what it is. Linkin Park cash grab 24-25 lol
I don't care what anyone says. Emily is awesome and I hope to see and hear her for many years with Linkin Park.

I like Emily. I said in my reaction, she would've been so nervous, so much pressure to impress the soldiers. I for one am on board.

She sounds good in my opinion. Can’t wait to see what LP and Emily have in store for us.
@@drop-d-extreme7167 She's here to stay so cry some more 😂
Yeah, she must have been nervous as hell (voice cracks and too much distortion at some points), she did great, eventually people will get used to her.
Chester will always live on through linkin park. Im happy to see them get back on their feet
Makes sense :)
nah they just didnt want to pay someone what they should have for a lame cash grab. They literally chose a scientologist.. Who attacked Chester in his time of death.
@@AlexanderJoneshttps jay has nothing to do with them lol
@somersfamily yeah actually Jay Gordon does have alot to do with linkin park. First they were peers in the early 2000s. Jay did a remix with linkin park. They toured together. Pretty safe to say they are friends.
I wish Rob all the best, and personally I’m so excited to hear what she does with the band. Spent most of today crying lol
That’s not a bad idea.

As a Stone Temple Pilots fan, I know how hard it is to have a new singer in place of a legend. Embrace it, and give it a chance.
That's nothing. Look at Queen without Freddie. THAT is some BS. If they can do it, LP sure can.

I hope Emily will be respected by the community. As an old Linkin Park fan I admit I was very skeptical. But Emily is the best choice the band could've made. I am very happy with the return of Linkin Park and I Emily is so talented, can't wait for the new album.
When half the band changes it's better to make new band and don't hurt the legacy of linkin park
i couldn't agree with you more, LP could easily create new music using A.i. for Chester's voice and a hologram for live performances. we live in an era where that technology is easily available and I think fans would be happier to see that then some girl singing Chester's parts. I don't wanna throw any hate towards this woman but why not just call the band something else? the original drummer is gone and chester has passed away so why not just create something new? They can easily use technology to do Linkin Park stuff using a hologram and a.i. but to come out saying your doing a new album of new music why not just call yourself something other than Linkin Park?
the band should have done a name change.

It was never about bringing Chester back (That is impossible) but rather, reinventing Linkin Park.

@@Kabinbr
We absolutely watched the same show, you just don't understand what musically fits a band.

That vocalist from the 'Hybrid Theory' cover band does justice to Chester's voice. No hate guys, this is my opinion.
