Really enjoyed watching this. Especially the belt sander! That’s how I learned forty plus years ago. It’s almost a lost skill these days with CNC and various other machine available. Eventually our shop bought a Timesaver 😊. Thanks for the video. Subbed.
Wow that’s awesome! Very nice design, beautiful grain in the oak, thru tenon is very cool! Can’t wait for the sycamore table- I have some quarter sawn it’s beautiful stuff!
Should’ve included that. You can see it towards the end of some of our other videos. I use a biscuit jointer to cut slots in the aprons and table top clips (z clips). amzn.to/3xca3eZ
Not like an epoxy. It’s an oil. The second part is an accelerator. The oil can be used by itself but will take something like 30 days to cure. With the accelerator it cures in a couple of days.
Sorry I missed filming that part. I used a biscuit joiner to cut slots in the base and used z clips or table top clips and screws to attach the top to the base. I do show this in most of our other videos 😬
Do you cut grooves in your dowels? I recently started making my own dowels and made a jig to cut grooves but I’m not sure they need it. I thought it make for a good glue surface, but I’m very interested in your thoughts! Thanks and great build video!!!👍🏻 Also, great back story about the wood. I love making projects out of reclaimed wood.
I don’t. And I think for shorter dowels that’s worked fine for me. I have had issues driving longer dowels all the way and I think grooves would fix it. However. If the dowel is going to be visible like when I pin my half lap legs not sure how it would look with grooves in it. So, for hidden dowels I think grooves would be good, for visible dowels no. And that’s cool! I’ve been wanting to make my own dowels but haven’t yet. Did you buy a jig or make one?
@@weatheredgoodswoodshop Thanks for your response. I should have been more clear, I was talking about hidden dowels only. I made a couple jigs, one for dowels and one for cutting grooves. I found a UA-cam video about those jigs and decided to make them. The dowels I get out of the jig are spot on. I can make 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2”. I’m a hobbyist so I can afford the time to make them. If I was in a commercial shop like yours I would definitely buy them. Thanks again for your feedback. Steve

This is great! I'm impressed with your belt sander flattening.
Thanks. I’ve spent a little time sanding with it over the years 😊

It is really pretty. Didn’t film building those 😬. I’ll be posting some pics on Instagram when they’re done but no video…
Very nice design! I am curious how you attached the top to the base?

BEAUTIFUL! Just subscribed! Can you tell me why Rubio has 2 parts to it and what each part does? Is it like epoxy? How durable a finish is it?

And thanks for subbing!
What a beautiful piece!! What size/shape router bit did you use for the table legs/skirt to round over the edges? Thanks!
Thank you!! Here is a link to the router bit I used amzn.to/3v8jWtk
Thank you!!
Table looks great. Just curious, how did you attach the top to the base?

I didn't quite catch what you are using as a finish.
