To be fair, the only version of Takes My Life they ever recorded was a live performance (to my knowledge), but I do agree with you. I have never been disappointed with them live. I have seen them six times spread out over about a 12 year period and they are always good.
This is the new greatest vocal performance of all time. There is not a better video of complete vocals domination. And Joe is top notch and really playing awesome too in this one. listened 7 times today.

His voice sounds like a new element, a form of massive energy, he could still hit notes from 30 years ago, volume, expansion, range and techniques. Lyzzy was unbeatable as a vocalist, not even Cornell, Plant or Mercury could have mastered his voice so well. Goddess of music.
