5:27 Back in the days when TFL rail and London Overground (Enfield Cheshunt Chingford) didn't exist, it used to be slightly more common with the 315s running on the fast lines operating services to Southend and Witham.

Well the truth is that... One has been secured for preservation! A complete unit in fact it is. We might be able to see one in preservation when it is retired

@@Transportationspotting Well, the Class 315 Preservation Society are somewhat reaching an agreement with Eversholt Rail Leasing to Acquire a complete unit for Preservation so it won't be long to see one in Preservation

I believe it does use a Thyristor/Chopper like the 317 does

@@Gst_1717 Actually after looking at some other trains with chopper traction, I think this uses a solid state version of the old camshaft systems the other PEP units used, but with a thyristor selecting the resistors for the motors
