The Class 315’s Last Journey: Chasing Trains
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 бер 2023
- Starting at Ilford Station, we spot 37884 heading to Ilford E.M.U.D to pick up 315837 and 315857 on what will be their last ever journey on the rails - a journey to Newport Sims scrapyard where they will be shredded into unidentifiable metal pieces.
Once the 37 has picked up the 315s, we spot them blasting through Ilford, heading westbound out from London. Next, Reading Station and then the last stretch into Newport Sims.
An emotional goodbye echoed by the bassy thrash of 37884’s EE 12CSVT engine.

Sick of clueless knuckle draggers online saying Francis is a character. The best actor in the world couldn't fake that smile. Reason they think this is because they're neurotypical and can't fathom how someone could love trains so much and also have a sense of humour and the ability to entertain the world. Well you can do all 3. Plenty of people use a pseudonym online, it's just smart. Francis, your videos are a breath of fresh air.
Quite right, I've read his book...
@@jaybee1921 same here!
facts!
I met him a while ago he was a cool down to earth guy nothing fake about him
Well, although his passion may be real, he is still playing a character. His real name is Luke
I love how it has flipped, I bet all the train drivers are now Francis Spotting! More videos please, the world needs more people like you Francis.
Protect this man at all cost. His enthusiasm is absolutely adorable. I love him.
Class 37 is one of the last few remaining diesel locos from my spotting days in the early 80s. Memories of happy times 👌👌👌. Brilliant Francis
A few 47s still about
@@articeddie5494 20s as well, and ONE class 31 (128)
Me too Daniel now it’s mostly crap with the odd old school diesels
I remember hearing the rumble of triple headed 37s going past my junior school as a kid I’d always strain my neck to have a look at them pulling coal wagons .
Glad to see someone genuinely happy and enjoying life. Clearly he has a real passion for trains and wants to share his passion. Well done man. Keep it up.
I have no idea how I ended up on this video but your enthusiasm is infectious, love people who are passionate and happy. Reuben is a real character with his suit, I thought he was a underage teenager driving a car.
I was the GN driver that collard you in Peterborough Waitrose for a selfie 😂 Nice to meet you briefly. Enjoy these natural, point of view videos. Keep it up 👍🏻
I'm happy to have met this man irl he's very cheerful a friendly and its always nice to see him
Great video we need more Ruben in his suit in future videos keep up your great work Francis
Loving these long-form videos! Really do want to see more of this, keep it up! :D
Same here
(Also hello vex)
Hey Vex 👍👍
wow, this is my first time on this channel and I can't even describe how nice it is to just see friendly and simple content here on youtube. No hate, no complaining, just people enjoying trains. I would never think of following a train just to see it a second time, but I was really positively impressed when he was on the platform and met these other people who also just wanted to see the same train. That makes you happy somehow.
this was my childhood train and I was sad to see them withdrawn, I'm glad you have made a video of this train because the class 315 deserves a lot of love. remember when I met you at Liverpool Street and we had a chat
I grow up with Class 315s trains
Pleasantly surprised by just how nice it was to escape into your passion for trains and random communication with friendly strangers....
I am no train spotter, but I was for the duration of your excellent video. Thanks for posting
Reuben needs a channel of his own
He's got a family-man's car and a family-man's suit.
My grandson is young train spotter and loves your channel. He’s watched all of your vids and we all love you.
I have no particular interest in trains but watched this as the ones being retired were the ones I used to take to and from work. Happy to say I stayed and enjoyed the infectious joy this guy exudes - rare to find something so charming and wholesome these days. Keep on smiling, Francis!
I heard you on Radio 4 yesterday, your laugh is infectious and your joy for life is an inspiration to us all!
Thank you 🙏
Love your excitement & enthusiasm for trains It's a real joy to see a dedicated spotter👍.
Loving the concept of your content in a longer, widescreen format! Please do continue!
Love how much joy you get out of this hobby. I don’t think I’ve had this much joy since my first ride behind a Deltic last year. You should pay a visit to Stafford someday, it’s an absolute hive when it comes to freight workings.
What makes it so much better is the drivers of these beauties toot their horns to say hi. Brilliant video 👏
I loved it Francis it looked like you enjoyed that day and sorry to hear a class 315 has been scrapped 😢 they were great units
Found this today September 12th 2023.I absolutely love this Chap. What a wonderful person he is.James O Brien bought me here.I love this Lad already.
10:33 We agree with you, Francis: the audio at this moment DOES sound like a true Ghost Train (or two), speaking to you. Remarkable! 🚆🚆
Francis you're a legend pal, and what about those young train enthusiasts! How lovely to see young lads enjoying this as a hobby.
Every day I watch this chap makes it a happy day. It's nice to get so much enjoyment and fulfilment from a hobby and to pass on that joy to others.
Ah, wasn't expecting the lump in the throat seeing those 315s come to a stop for the last time
Great video Francis! Perfectly documenting chasing the 37 from Ilford to Newport, and the reality of a day out on the rails. 100% natural, 100% you!!! Look forward to the next. 👍
Keep these coming! Loving the longer format.
Please have more of these longer videos 👍👍👍
Can't believe this ! I drove these in the 90s , dam I feel old .........
We need more Ruben
God only knows how i got here, but glad i did, so nice to see, amid this media frenzy of news rammed down our throats, well done lads! Have to love a tractor!
If I am feeling low, I watch Francis, Thank you Francis you are amazing.
Ah mate of mine sent me one of His films, I watched it over & over. Then I found more of this guys films, this lad is superb pure enthusiasm, keep the train films coming mate. 👍👍👍
I don’t like the haters that they say your fake but your not your enthusiasm is the best I have seen it’s because the haters are probably jealous also my passion of trains is since my dad got me into trains and stuff and a enthusiast like you Francis is just very very epic
I remember the 315's and especially the 313's and 508's when they were new. Very sad to see them all depart, but this video did make it rather enjoyable 🤔🤔🤔
A national treasure. People thought "The Office" was amusing but this just blows that right out of the water. I suppose it is the surrealism of The Office combined with Frank Spencer (Michael Crawford). Brilliant.
Great to see you on UA-cam Francis! Surely a video with Geoff Marshall now!?!?
Love the video. I hope there will be more of this in the future
Great to see you doing longer format bits as well! Caught some clips of the 315s on their farewell tour back in November - very sad to see them go. All the best 👍
Great video Francis, you were so lucky to see two 37’s! Loving these videos lately!
You really are infectiously enthusiastic. Especially with the Tractors, but then I don’t know how anyone can’t like a 37!
Love your enthusiasm old boy!
Keep up the good work.
Amazing video, Francis! 👍
Sad to see the 315s go.
I really enjoyed this. It brought a smile to my face. The effort and dedication put in was incredible.
Just a wonderful video 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💨 that smile 😁 is infectious!! Thank you for your work/passion 🙏
Francis, you're a gem. Keep it up!
Thank you, Francis, for sharing your love of trains with us.
What am I watching, I thought it was a strange hybrid train/office comedy! but to be honest I enjoyed it! Well done and nice editing!
Great video mate, love the long form format, keep up the amazing work 👋😊
Keep on keeping on and please never stop posting. Your joy is lovely.
Great video Francis you absolute legend

My new fav channel! Keep up the great work!
Well done sir! Your smile is contagious. Keep up with the great videos and please don’t let anyone ruin your happiness and love for trains.
Nice footage of the scrap working and the effort put in from first to last location 👍
Blimy well done Oliver.. as TM ..,, worked many shifts with him !!!
Living your best life buddy, fair play to you, keep it up!
I love to see England on UA-cam I was removed from England as a small child and have never returned. Clips like this show me so much
Love how this popped into my feed as I didn't know Francis had a UA-cam channel. Well done mate, I hope to see many more uploads.
Rest in peace class 315 units, and lovely video!
Yes, stay safe and happy what you do. your emotions do spread to other people watching......
Great vid, thanks Francis 👍🏻👌
I live in France and I want to thank you for sharing your passion !
His smile makes the hair on my arms stand up. This fellow is genuinely happy and I’m infected by his smile. So awesome and calming to watch!
Great video well done Francis!
Great video thanks Francis.
So good to see a young man like you, being so enthusiastic about a good old (ex-BR) Class 37 & some rather sad 315 units, now off to the breakers yard! I'm 69 years old & have loved trains all of my life. Keep up the great work that you are doing here on You Tube. What you do so well, is called 'out-reach to a new audience'. Your job is a about projecting your enjoyment & enthusiasm & attract potential rail-fans into becoming hooked on our shared, locomotion bug!
i was brought up watching peaks 37s 47s 31s 20s etc etc its great seeing your enthusiasm which we all now share thanks
Great video! Love these types of videos
Great to see your interest in train spotting I used to watch a class 37 years ago shunting coal wagon in a goods yard , and class 37 double header pulling fully laden oil tankers you could hear them coming miles away 👍
I love how happy you are!
What a fun day made out of a sad occasion. Nice video 👍
Nice video and well put thank you for this guys
First time to this channel, think I'm going to stick around. Very enjoyable video. Good job!
We need more of this!
Amazing the 37s still live on, i am 60 and did some gricing in the 70s, they were getting on then. Truly they have given great service, and what a beautiful locomotive. I indeed do understand how it makes you feel to see it, hear it, and experience it. Also to have an appreciation of the humble DMU /EMU. To those that don't understand, well,... it's a Gricer Thing 🙂
Keep it up Francis I’m starting to enjoy this
His happiness is so infective! Love this guy :)
Love this 😍
Keep posting videos👍
Great video Francis! Love your content, keep it up :)

Great fun. Well done and thank you. ps Love the Big Smile
He really is living the dream, doing something he loves, I love to see this.
I'm an ol FART, remember the EE type 3s at Liverpool Street in Green Livery as D67xx .
They didn't do much for me, preferred Brush 4s and the legendary Ee type 5s, the Deltics.
Love your videos and your excitement.
Good stuff Francis bro. Good to see you uploading on my main social page now! looking forward to see more from you.
I had such a bad day at work. You made me day with your video. Big hug from the netherlands 🇳🇱
I just saw one of your TikToks on Reddit and since I don’t have that app, I came here. You’re a joy.
Finally! Welcome to UA-cam my dear friend. This is where it is at. Be your own boss. Big love brother
Great video mate. Ilford is where I grew up, literally the street next to that depot so the class 315 is what I grew up on.
I rode those to work for 25 years, Cheshunt to Liverpool St. Can’t say I’ll miss them!
This guy is so positive ❤
