How Much Macca Does the Nahobino Need to Buy a Big Mac?

- One of the first currencies I wanted to cover in this series was Macca, the magical demon currency of the Shin Megami Tensei series, and with SMTV on the horizon I though there was no better time then now to do it!

I find it hilarious that it costs the same price to summon two weak demons from the Aether and fuse them together as it does to get a Big Mac.
Devil summoning has become quite affordable these days.
@@conwaysquest6961summoning demons out of nowhere and combining them is super easy, barely an inconvience
For such a forbidden art, it’s surprisingly cheap!
I like to imagine the currency exchanger for all of these so far is the same person.
Now, they have loads of Macca, alongside Red Orbs, Pokedollars, Gil, Pesetas, and LB Dollars.
I always imagined it as like a big woodchipper like machine where you drop the fantasy currency in the top and it makes a horrible noise, then produces the equivalent out the other end.
@@MetiNotTheBadGuy I think there's an SCP for that. In SCP fangames, the machine is used to upgrade, downgrade, or completely transform items.
@@Klorophyte you mean the clockwork machine with the fine, very fine functions?
Lucifuge coin exchanger. Looks like a casino slot, you put money into it and it converts it into your desired coin at a random conversion rate, a "neccesary evil" as Lucifuge would probably say...
@@Klorophyte that ain't so direct, it convers from one "worth" to another, not from one "value" to another
Fighting demons works up an appetite. Fortunately Daat’s economy is stable enough to have a few McDonald’s for an after combat meal
Somehow the blasted land of Da'at, an apocalyptic hell from 18 years ago still has better food prices than the US
Ah yes. They went for a Big Mac because Okumura Foods went out of business.
Big bang burger.
Haru existing wait who
More like it was nuked out of existence.
Yeah.
The literal end of the world will kinda do that.
This guy is a complete mystery, other than the fact that he is indeed the bad guy.
Why are you the axe from league of legends?
I love how there's a meme about the Nahabino at McDonald's and Aogami recommend he get the fries with his meal for the coming days.
The Canned Oden standard isn't reliable as a normal conversion rate standard, since it would be a collector's item much like the protagonist's yen in SMT 1.
Two things:
First, I believe it's safe to assume SMT1 takes place in 1996. We know from novelizations that SMTif takes place shortly before the nukes drop in SMT1, and both SMTif and Persona 1 take place in the same year because Tamaki is a second year student in both games. And P1 takes place in 1996 because P2 takes place three years later in 1999 because of the Grand Cross.
Secondly, there's something most people aren't aware of, but in the Devil Children games both the human *and* demon worlds use macca as a currency. So in the world of Devil Children you can literally visit a fast food restaurant in the human world and buy a burger with macca. The so-called "Expanse Burger" costs 180 macca in the GBC-era games, and 120 macca in the GBA-era ones.
Meti is answering what not even YHVH is capable of answering. Love it
13:23 I feel like the joke could have been "the most mac out of your Macca"
only in the law route will you get the chance to exchange macca for maccadonalds
As a Lawbro, I see this as an absolute win!
It's important to remember that Gustav is a collector. He's buying the "relics" from you because he is a collector, and we all know the inflated price people are willing to pay for rare things.
Although, I'd also argue he has no need for the actual coins he's surrounded by. Like he genuinely values the relics more than his money because he's curious about human knick knacks
Finally.
An interesting lore analysis about SMTV that really dives into the world. Thank you so much for this insight, Meti.
Wasn't excepting smt content here, but it was a happy surprise
I've done a few Atlus/Persona/SMT videos in the past, some not so great but its a series I love dearly.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that in Digital Devil Saga, Macca and USD have a 1:1 conversion rate
You can find small fortunes that seem to just be bundles of "old world" paper money.
That might solve things.
Meti, you treat us so good thank you for giving us such amazing content for so long.
Glad you enjoy it! these are usually my favorite type of videos to make
This video is both hilarious and insightful. Its a little difficult to play every single SMT game out there, and the idea of McDonald's in a post apocalyptic world is funny to me
I will be sure to put this information to good use when I play SMT V Vengeance in the near future.
This, this has been hilarious and very interesting to deep-dive into. Thank you for the laughs as this made my day.
Now this is real SMT video.
"Make sure to bring more macca next time!"
Never thought I would hear hunting Betral in the background of main line smt games ( loving it though )
7:57 There's no way it was 7 years ago.
Please Meti, can you do a " the beauty of mario zucchero " ?, I think it was the only character in part 5 that you didn't make a video about, I love this style of video.
Now we’re asking the real questions.
I think it's probably wrong to assume Gustave is buying relics at 1/4 value.
For the useful items, it's part of his business, he buys cheap so that he can turn a profit.
But the relics aren't being resold, he's a collector, just like the SMT1 exchange guy.
Meti asking the REAL questions
That's the type of content I want from this Fandom
Splendid
I think McDonalds would have the cooking instructions right there with the ingredients, there's no way even Pyro Jack couldn't figure out how to cook a McDonalds burger
My immediate answer to the title in my head was "whatever price our lord and savior gustav puts on it"
da'at australia - 702 macca big mac
Was assuming this video would use comparison between MegaTen games using Macca, and MegaTen games using Yen (because it depends!) to guesstimate an exchange rate.
Looking at the Macca price of soda is... much simpler.
for an outro i was not expecting a limbus company jumpscare from alfonso in canto 4
7:15 Exactly how I would describe soda tbh
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think one of the SMT games also states that you can eat the Macca as well?
0:55 yo Sanalite plushie found. I literally grabbed mine just cause of that.
How did we go from a breakdown of roland, one of the most depressed characters (that I have ever seen) in fiction, to how much macca do I need to buy a Big Mac
Follow up question: why am I a fan of both series?
2:53 serph is throwing US dollars, thats why he has bills. DDS2 happens in USA
In order to do this you would need to convert macca to yen then yen to dollars i think smt iv/ apocalypse helps with this because one of the relics is a 100 yen bill or something like it then you have account for when smt V takes place
10:52 Aigami got the Nahobino pregnant? 😮
SMT ECONOMICS!!! RAAAAAAAAAAH
are you telling me pyro jack was stupid enough to open a restaurant in the netherworld but didn't change the currencies listed on the menu
Ty for the australia mention. Love Macca's chips
Now this here is what maths were invented for.
Damn inflation hit the demons harder than us
Big Mac’s a Big Mac, but in Da’ at they call it Le Big Mac.
This is it.
Finally someone asking the real questions ...
I’m glad you finally did it
Smt restaurant called hungry Jack's run by the jack bros. King Frost could be the Burger King
Love your content ❤❤❤
Great video
Asking the real questions! 😂
I was literally scrolling through subs and I see this and start uncontrollably laughing
Thank you Shin Megami Tensei
Random but will we ever get an analysis on hajime kashimo from jjk?
I love how the pyro Jack won’t do the conversion rate lmao😂
2:56 Notice anything...sussy
Borgar
Can you do video about the Nier series
Considering McDonald's is called Macca's in Australia, here's a tongue twister.
Nahobino uses macca to buy a Big Mac at Macca's.
I called It meti
I want to play persona now
702 macca? Fuckin' rippa
big macca
Great video but the logic is flawed since the beginning, the relics are being bought not as what they are but as RELICS, even if you are being paid 1/4th of the price this price is still inflated due to it being more "a collector item" than a literal "can of oden", it would equate more to what one may pay for some limited run of a "can of oden", assuming there's people interested in that enough to increase the price of this rare item.
Everything else is flawless tho, loved the video.
It would've been better to say that the can of oden's price was inflated by 75%, considering that Gustave is a collector who will pay premium for human relics. Since he will by your normal items, that are naturally abundant in the netherworld, at 1/4 its price.
wait whys alfonso here
Can you do how much Ahn must Dante pay to buy a big mac in the City?
does Aogami need to eat food
my theory is that the nahobino is dumb because he could easily just buy normal stuff, and sell it to gustave for extreme "relic" prices
Please make video about kokushibou
Does Aogami even eat?
Shin megami tensei character video when
Why buy the Big Mac when you can just negotiate with the Manager?
also
big mac(ca)
How much macca for a macca? (Btw im not australian i hope i did this comment justice)
Image this is canon.😂
The video was very :)
The pronunciation of Nahobino was very :(
Don't worry, Aitvaras is cooking
shoulda kept the 2003 mic quality fr i was tearing up from nostalgia
I did a test run of it with the full bit in that mic quality and I cut it off at the right point where I felt like it wouldn't get to annoying. Glad that it had the effect I was going for though!
Patiently waiting for How Much Ahn Does Roland Need to Buy a Big Mac (Although I doubt HamHamPangPang being destroyed during a fight between syndicates would have done much for his already damaged sanity)
It'd be funny to work backwards with Ahn, as like the only times we hear it used anymore in Limbus its always such a absurd amount
The big mac series returns and continues to unironically be the best shit ever.
Next video what demons can cook
Most things shockingly enough, Pyro Jack is just bad at it
Thinking about this with honesty, most humanoid demons could qualify for the ability to prepare meals, especially the lower order of Angels (Archangel, Angel, Principality) since they spectate humans, so it's possible they could learn the steps of cooking (like a bowl of ramen, or a Big Mac for instance) through watching how others do it.
Yeeesssss yum yum Maccadonalds
If you try to pay with the wrong amount of Macca, the Jack Frost turns into Black Frost and fights you
gives me an idea for a funny side quest. basically, you do a grocery run for a restaurant run by a jack frost. once you get him all the stuff, he let's you try his cooking and then, charges you an impossible amount of macca for the meal. thus, a fight ensues where he calls in the entire hee ho lineage to try and whoop your ass into paying.
Ah, poor Lucifuge. He has such problems keeping a stable exchange rate.
*looks at my 6,000 macca quest reward* Damn, Koshimizu’s cheap.
Alfonso jumoscare
Wow, you really enjoy doing this. Thinking about doing Kingdom Hearts currency in the future?
I absolutely *adored* all your Jojo content when I was in hs. Now that I've graduated I've been getting really into smt, and now you start to cover it? The coincidence is unreal, and I love your channel gamer! I was surprised to hear you talking in a video about I thiiink, the different personas of the party members?
Now I'm curious how much it'd cost to get KFC in SMT
This is it. Your magnum opus
I'd disagree that relics are bought at quarter cost, given they're relics, not usable items, and Gustave is a collector. I'd personally guess either closer to a half, at cheapest, up to 1.5x
The only other notes I have is we can probably use Nocturne knowledge if helpful to expand on this, as in the Canon of Vengeance, one of the miman state that the netherworld was born starting at a hospital near Shinjuku, kinda north-east of Yoyogi. That lines up with the Conception in Nocturne. Whether the gameplay of Nocturne happens before SMTV, different question, I'm not educated enough to answer that. But, Conception is the same starting point.
Hm. I feel like Gustav probably doesn’t buy items at an accurate exchange rate. He’ll buy a school bathing suit off you for like 5000 macca and a vinyl umbrella for 10000 macca. I don’t think the prices are particularly accurate to real world currency and it’s just worth that much to him since he a collector.
Demi-Nandi patties. Likely full of antibiotics and soy filler.
I love over analyzing fictional world economies.
It’s always fun
However you are making a mistake with Gustave.
He is a collector and as such likely does not plan to resell the relics.
He buys the useful stuff for 1/4 of their market value, because he plans to sell them for that amount. Since there is no other buyer for the collectibles, his buying rate is the absolute value.
So you should increase the calculated amount by 4 to fix that error
Unregistered Hypercam 2 huh? Man, back when YT and the internet was good.
