just a small point; tuya devices primarily run locally now, and only connect to the cloud to update the devices status. you can try this yourself - unplug your broadband (but keep your hub on) and you can still control your lights etc. also means there's virtually no lag these days.
Just discovered you today. Great video and following this video and your follow up I have installed the new tuya integration. Looks great! I am trying to follow the competition now but can't seem to access it. Is it over ?
No subscription now... What happens when they get massive amounts of people using them then change to a paid service. It could certainly happen. Local tuya is the way, if a device can't be flashed as is the way with most of the recent ones
It could happen at some point yes. But its not currently in Tuyas business plan. I will be creating a new video for the Tuya HA Tuya integration in the coming weeks showing how to utilise more devices.
@@simonburke6681 Ill be sharing more info in a video this week. But Tuyas new integration has local control planned. So hopefully they streamline this whole process.
Hi Mark - great video - i want to call these APIs from make/integromat. Calling the apis you demonstrate here is easy, however, I need to setup the headers for each request, so what api calls do i need to make to authenticate and get whatever tokens I need to pass in the header of subsequent calls? Do you have a video on this or can u point me to an articel somewhere explaning the proces?
Mark, Is there a way to program to get notifications? I have Tuya vib sensor and want to be notified when a vib has not been detected for a certain amount of time.
is there any chance to control fingerbots without a hub? even the new bluetooth integration not finding them. could you maybe do a how to to integrate them? an ESP workaround would be fine too. having a hard time integrating this little bot into home assistant
@@MarkWattTech i have been trying integrating App sdk android. But when i try to get network token for pairing. It shows permission denied, No Access. So if ypu please help me or share a video of integrating SDK. It would be great!! Thanks
I curious what Tuya's Business Model is? As in, how do they make money? Obviously running the cloud, providing support, and so on, costs, at least, a small fortune. Since 'we' (end-product consumers) buy Tuya based product, there is some revenue for them there (via H/W manufacturers) but that's hardly a viable longer term revenue stream. I ask because it's actually more than simple 'curiosity'. Personally, I do not want to invest my time and resources (either buying more Tuya product or this API development venture) into a dead end or one that will turn around and trap me in some other kind of got'cha. As many of us have recently learned with Google, 'we' are their Product, not their Client. I hope this is not the case with Tuya.
Heya :) I believe they create there revenue via api licenses and smaller company’s paying them to utilise there software development platform. The Tuya platform is huge. And very simple for small company’s to creat apps and other tools to integrate with the Tuya cloud. I dont know what percentage etc they make from it, but you can see some of the corporation and enterprise packages on there website. You are able to use a free version of the Tuya cloud which is given to your for free when you create an account. This is free for a set number of projects and devices and this tier will always be free.
Hi I'm new to Tuya. Can you show video on how to use the Tuya API in programming (any language) rather than using the POSTMAN or cloud console for testing purpose only?
Things have changed quite alot since this video was published. I am trying to follow along. But get stuck at logging in to the IoT Device Management app when trying to add a device using the QR code. It is saying my username and password are incorrect. Although I know for a fact that it is correct. Hmmm im stuck.
Hey Mark, great to hear local intergration is on the cards as this is the one of the main attractions to HA users. Is there any plans to get IR blaster device support that you know of?
As far as I have seen, and from the guys at Tuya I have spoken to - it’s a very broad “more devices” at the moment. I will speak to them today and see if I can get a proper answer to your question for my new video that will be out this week 👍🏻
@@MarkWattTech Another thought on this - a bit hacky but if we could add tap to run in home assistant then maybe we could build a custom remote in lovelace.
Hey Christoff. The pages have updated since May. I'm actually releasing a new guide to this on Saturday. For now Check Cloud > Development > Create Cloud Project. Cheers.
The Dev Pages have Changed a little since I created this Guide. I will be creating an up to date version this Weekend!
Iam cannot scan the QR Code to add the device when confirm login... please help me...
Tuya api is not free and is very expensive…
not only developers, there're all sorts of things can be supported by Tuya IoT- good job here!
is there a sdk for any programming language or just a rest api?

Thanks Philippe. I’m not 100% sure if the competition is still open or not. Best bet would be to message one of the Tuya guys on there support chat :)
yea lovely tutorial but I have no idea how to now translate this to just a python file. absolutely no idea
If i have my own APP, i can control Tuya modules? Or the API just can be used on TUYA app?
Did you find anything about that?

Either ways you'll have the keys to use tuya local ;)

Does the Trial Edition only last for 1 month and then you must start paying?
I have the same doubt
Thank for this awesome tutorial...
please make a follow up video to connect HA with Tuya IOT. I have few tuya devices not compatible with local tuya
Coming soon! 😁👀

Is the Tuya Api free for personal use?
make a video on app development using TUYA SDK
What in particular would you like to see?

Wow brilliant video. Exactly what I was looking for and then some more. Well done and thanks.

is it possible to short-circuit and send commands to local device on same network?

When trying to create a cloud project in wants me to verify myself including my Dutch version of the Social Security Number, mmmh.. not happing
I think thats to do with the Region selection. Try just putting USA and you should be able to create an account without giving all of that info.

What would you like to see? Just a console app to interact with the Api?
Thanks for your information, i have a question about c# API, can it work with Unity 3d? i dont find any infor about this.
Not 100% on this but if you can access the C# libraries then I would say so.
What an excellent video! Starting to learn API's, Subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
Is it possible to push requests via telnet?
Very helpful video. Thank you!
