sennheiser hd 25....definitely the best in the world for: mixing, long time holding on your ear/neck. i dont think they are meant for listening to music and prepare your set with. the frequency processing is giving you just what you need to hear for mixing and processing, it will not give you a full range to enjoy the music you are listening. There is a reason why they are being used from sports speakers, government agencies, djs etc. they are light, reliable, user friendly and intended to give you the basics of your audio material...and all of the above, without any need to raise the volume 10 db above your monitors. Personally, i select the music i play with aiaiai..... On a gig, definitely strictly sennheiser hd 25 II. i have friends, international djs which are still using the same model for the last 20 years...and only changing cables and sponges from time to time (every 5 yrs).... just buy it... best quality you can get for the money
Like you I have gone through a tons of headphones in my lifetime, but the one's I end up liking, end up being discontinued! One thing I do know is "on the ear" earphones hurt me! So I always have to get the "over the ear" variants. I personally love AGK headphones, and I'm using the the K240's at the moment - but they were bought for non-DJ use. They are a bit quiet to be honest too. So thanks to all commenting, I shall look into any recommended for my next purchase.
Still got my pair after 12 years. Have had to replace the headphone pads and one of the head band pads in that time. Still going strong, just recommend a friend to buy these and she absolutely loves them!
Hi. Really enjoyed your review. Very much to the point, objective, and clean. My Sennheiser 25HD Plus has already arrived, before seeing your review. I’m replacing my old and trusty Sennheiser HD 280 pro - which still works nicely. The plugs are a bit bent, but still work…just about. Bulky though. I bought the 25 HD’s only because I’ve always trusted Sennheiser - their product, ethos, and reputation. Your review consolidates confidence in what felt earlier like a nervous purchase and update. Thanks again for your solid review!
@@djkarlthomas they might sound like shit compared to HD 25’s but it’s from a different time, they are optimised for cassette & high hiss media. Open back too, they are good for general use & pretty light. Also if you break them you can send them back to koss & get a blue replacement pair for £5 no questions.
tried these a while back and loved them but because i break headphones often i decided again buying them. took the plunge and ordered them a few days ago because i had some spare cash and wanted to upgrade a few bits of my recording setup.
Nice! I think because they produce such a flat sound they might be ideal, although I’m not an expert when it comes to studio set ups! Enjoy mate and thank you for tuning in!
I've had my HD25-1 since 1996 ! These are not the same as the old HD25's in the early 90's! The best were the HD25-1 & HD25-II After 2000 they came with different rating speakers ! So if you have the ones from the early 90s you have the best ones, that's why they were double the price as these new HD25✌
Iam no DJ i use my 7 years old v moda LP2 for listening to all music i like especially fast and brutal metal and even crazy fast grindcore like BerzerkeR, some with EQ some just flat, the bass response and the high and soundstage is awesome enough for my taste, just the mid is slightly recessed that's why sometimes it needs EQ to up the mid a bit for the guitars Im really curious about HD25 but maybe one day
I'm no DJ so I use cheap crappy Walmart headphones Skullcandy. I've seen reviews about these so then I bought these as I listen to a lot of EDM so it's not really bassy, rather it has a lot less bass if not no/minimum bass. So far it suits my genre quite well yet I just wanted to hear a different opinion. I notice an immediate difference even though I use these on a laptop. I could just imagine how it'll sound like with an actual DJ set I'm sure it'll sound way better.
Good choice with getting these and glad they sound good for the genre of music you listen to. I really like the flat frequency response which helps me with my DJ sets :)
So technically it is the left ear cup that rotates and yes the cable goes into the right hand side- I am the same and just wear them the other way round. Due to the screws holding the cable in place only being on one side unfortunately you cannot change this.
Hi! How would you compare hd 25's over Hi-fi headphones? Would it be suitable for daily use with iphone or with an portable amp? I know it's 70 ohms, do you think a portable amp would make it sound even better?
I don’t know a lot about hifi headphones but what I would say is that these will deliver a very flat sound across the board. When it comes to hifi headphones I would imagine the likes of Bose or Senheiser hifi models will deliver a much richer sound designed to enhance your listening experience whereas these are very good for music monitoring hence why not a lot of domestic users will have these. An amp will amplify the sound but it won’t change the shape of the sound. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
They are fantastic and very easy to move with almost any player. I'm currently using them with my Sony WM1A thru its balanced out. They're so good for critical listening and hi-fi recordings that I've been thinking about selling my HD600 as these sound so good and don't bother other people in the room. You can also get the 2020 HD25 Light as they now have exactly the same drivers as the HD 25. highly recommended.
Hmmmm, not a lot of bass you say, is this due to what your connecting too, or are these just pretty poor for bass all round? I did plan to buy a pair for use with a Yamaha Hi-Fi Amp but the comment on the bass has turned me off a bit :(
They just deliver a flat sound across the board which is perfect for dj monitoring. If you want a deep rich bass, you are best off buying something else.
Hello. Offer to buy new Sennheiser HD 25 Amperior Silver. Why are they out of production? Are they suitable for DJing or is it still better to take the classic Sennheiser HD 25? What is the difference? Thank you.
I've had a few pairs of these- coming from both locations and don't notice a sound difference. I would imagine they will be made to a specific specification determined by Sennheiser.
Due to the size of wearing for long periods perhaps they may be uncomfortable, however for Dj monitoring where they are on and off all night I find them to be perfectly fine.
I think I mention it in the video- not a great deal. The plus version you just get a spare cable and spare ear pads included in the box. The headphones are the same.
What headphones do you use to DJ with? I think you can guess my pair of choice!
Just bought them before watching this video, but I've been loving them so far.
@@aeinsekt what a great purchase!

When i bought my first HD25 15 years ago, i never looked back. Still working today, never failed me.

Hi Karl, Great video, well produced, edited, scripted and delivered 🎧😎👍🏻

Just ordered some today they arrive tomorrow however I’m doing a lot of music production at the mo so I hope these can also deliver on that front
Hope you like them!!

There is a piece of eq which is still longer produced unchanged than this, it is Denon DL-103 mc cartridge.

the best Headphone 👏👏👏
Agreed
32 years is impressive, but think about Technics 1200, the wheels of steel. Introduced in 1972 and the MK2 was released in 1978.
Ah yes! Also classic headphones. Not as widely available in the UK as they once were!
Is the cable coming out of the right headphone? I prefer in on the left, is it easy to swap? Only one of the ear cups rotate, correct?
So technically it is the left ear cup that rotates and yes the cable goes into the right hand side- I am the same and just wear them the other way round. Due to the screws holding the cable in place only being on one side unfortunately you cannot change this.
i came here for these exact questions 😂
Still using a set from 1999 few earpads and wire replacements
Nice! Well looked after then

Pioneer HDJ C70 , nice sound

What's the difference in sound between the new version made in romania and the old version made in Ireland?
I've had a few pairs of these- coming from both locations and don't notice a sound difference. I would imagine they will be made to a specific specification determined by Sennheiser.
Sennheiser DT 770 250 ohms
I'm listening to this with the senheiser but after 5 min i regret them they are too stiff and too hard on the ear...sound is soft
That’s a shame, I really don’t experience the issues you are facing!
Which is the best compared with AIAIAI tm2 headphones?
I have used the AiAiAi a couple of times and I still always go back to senheiser.
@@djkarlthomas better option is senhhieser hd25 plus. Right?
Where made your headphones?
Ireland
How this is when compared to sony mdr 7506?
Not something I have used so can’t comment unfortunately.
The 7506s are legendary you watch any video in a recording studio and you see them being used with that blue strip on the side
Most uncomfortable headphones I've ever tried. Change my mind 🤷♂️
Due to the size of wearing for long periods perhaps they may be uncomfortable, however for Dj monitoring where they are on and off all night I find them to be perfectly fine.
Tell that to Joseph Capriati. He did a 28 hour set with them.
show the side bruhh u keep showing from the front but not the side fml
in the world???
For DJing....I am yet to find ones better in terms of sound and I have gone tried and tested many pairs. But this is my personal preference...
