Sean Payton is the smartest coach, as far as understanding the complete game of football, the Broncos have had in a long time. Hopefully we'll get a quarterback to build around in the draft, but if not, we'll get a good group of young players who fit into the system and a winning culture. Coach's football intelligence will be seen in the draft, in training camp, and leading up to the 2024 season. We need to be patient as fans. Easier said than done I know. Go Broncos!!

Love Sean Payton but these press interviews are painful because they're asking them questions that they're not going to really answer. They're not going to give away their draft strategy to reporters before the Draft begins. Payton is a master at just talking, talking not really giving answers. Gotta love him though!
someone is actually getting it. good job. These guys say who lot without saying anything. Now that's the fault of the people asking questions that for the good of the team won't be answered.

We’re projected to have almost $100m in cap space next season. Trade up for your guy if you have to, roll with Stidham for a few weeks and let the rookie learn, and then pay quality talent to surround your guy in the offseason.
This idea that we can "roll with Stidham a few weeks" fails to understand how difficult it is to play QB in Sean Payton's offense & also how he views rookie QBs in general. It also fails to grasp that Payton appears to view Jarrett Stidham considerably different than the fans do. Payton has specifically stated on at least two occasions that he views Stidham as a guy who is a potential starter. These statements were not made off the cuff, but offered up by him alongside an analysis of him that included Payton saying he was a fast processor, had a high football IQ & could read defenses. These are the identical qualities he sought out in Drew Brees.
In that 2006 draft Payton faced a similar choice that he does now. With the #2 overall pick he had his choice of three highly rated rookie QBs, all considered top 10 picks. He ignored all of them & instead went with Brees, a guy who was not only coming off a down year, but was 3 months removed from serious shoulder surgery that Brees himself & much of the rest of the NFL thought might be career ending.
Payton is not likely to start a rookie QB, not in 2024, & probably not in 2025 either even if that guy has been here for a year. Don't be shocked if he drafts a lineman in the first round of this draft.
Look even if they go with our qb now or draft one the realism of the hole situation is developing a qb is the best for the franchise with the situation that the previous owns put us in seemed like they didn’t care how much they screwed it up with Wilson’s trade and the pre season extension didn’t help of course that was also a bad decision but now let’s develop a qb and stick with him just need a team that can play together and wants to win together period

Not sure if Sean’s intelligence translates to him being a great coach. If his team fails next season the organization may need to consider switching him to a different position. It worked for Celtics.

Why?
Because there isn't a Manning or Elway in this draft. McCarthy, Penix and Nix will be lucky to be Jake Plummer. Williams and Maye are the only quarterbacks in this draft that are special.
And I'll add, they don't have a team built from the ground up, drafted and developed into playoff contenders for a QB like a Manning or an Elway to succeed either. It's still a sinking ship with band-aids and silly putty temporarily filling the gaping holes. Goff, Allen, Purdy, sure ain't Mannings or Elways, but they're examples of the first point in my opinion.
We need a QB, quit PLAYING with Broncos Country!!

How good are the Broncos Scouts? They missed on Mahoney's draft yr & last yr other teams 2nd & 3rd Backups better than RW & other positions of need. Losing good players, due to?? Like Judd--cause RW couldn't throw an accurate pass or the Offensive play calls were?? And not getting the ball to the RB's in space to the Recs in stride - not tackling below the waist or constantly creating turnovers. Can Payton Manning be encouraged to come back & fix the Broncos?

I dunno, I remember hearing Kyle Pitts would change the game and was better than a wider receiver because he was nearly as fast and hand great hands. He’s been very good, but not Gronk or Kelce 2.0. He is a good pick if there aren’t any QBs than the team wants, but if there is one they like, ya gotta take him

Lotta hate for George Paton here. Do you realize why he's still here? He has had excellent drafts AND the ownership pushed for the Russ contract. George wanted to wait a year. Ownership pushed it because Lamar Jackson was about to reset the whole QB market and they wanted to get ahead of it all. It was a horrible choice and Paton gets blamed for it.

I like George. He really is a good scout. Professional and a good dude. As GM though, it’s pretty questionable (VERY QUESTIONABLE) at some of the decisions he’s made. All in all, he knows how to evaluate most talent and it would be cool if he could stay with the Broncos as a scouting director, but as far as GM, I think we need a different person.

Biggest mistake wasn't trading for Russell. It was signing him before we even needed to. But it was probably proposed under the table.

I am over it but for you to say that he knows more is just pure insanity. To me it's about being a professional, and that's not what he is. It's also about conducting yourself in a professional manner.
He doesn't do that. He conducts himself like someone that's out of control, and can't say the appropriate things. My guy has a new opportunity with a coach that knows how to conduct themselves.
This Payton character doesn't, and I won't take back what I said, because he's the true definition of classless defined in the dictionary.
