I grew up in Acton Street in a Georgian Townhouse in the 1960's, at the bottom of Acton Street is Great Percy Street which leads to Percy Circus, when we were kids we made our own ball bearing go karts and used to race them down around Percy Circus and the residents used to watch from their balcony's and cheer us on, then down the steep hill which is Great Percy street and the best bit trying to stop before the bottom, a few grazed knees and elbows in those days. I think if I owned this house I would certainly put a railing around that small sun terrace, it's quite a drop to the garden.
Funny, we sold this kind of house in 2018 and went to the countryside. So much memories seeing this house where we renovated it for 7 years long and then we sold it.
I’m ex Londoner from Southgate . Sold up 13 years ago. Country life is awesome. I’m on a farm in Suffolk , just off the coast . Absolutely ideal. Don’t miss London at all.
4:20...that decked balcony on the 2nd floor gave me instant vertigo. There were no banisters or railings whatsoever, just a 1 foot high ledge!!! "Great views of London...could easily fit 6 people up there...perfect use of space?" Or, the perfect place to take a swan dive from 2 floors up!
You pay for location location. The stairs are so narrow I don't think it would be to code in California. Some nice features I would take a bigger nicer place alittlle further from central London
The interior is as it would have been . Original features everywhere. They kept the wooden shutters. The fireplaces are left in place . What historical details are you referring to?
It was completely gutted and refinished, keeping some of the original woodwork,, fireplaces (or they bought in replacements. they look Victorian, not 18th c.)Shudders look original as do the baseboards but the walls are all new, sheetrock not original plaster and the window and doorway woodwork is also new. Don't get me wrong, they did a wonderful job and spared no expense it's beautiful but too bland for my taste- however if someone gave it to me (!) I would love to live there !! @@monk3yboy69
I live around the corner from here, always wondered what the interiors are like! Will vouch for the area in general, super convenient location (I pretty much walk everywhere in London), and close to busy areas but the street itself is more tucked away, very quiet and away from all the traffic
The rooms seem quite small. And all the incongruous artwork and modern fittings take away much of its period character. It might as well be a new build IMO. Sorry, but contemporary developers are ruining London’s period housing 😒
I agree in principle, however I could easily redecorate this to its former glory. But yes I hate seeing these lovely old houses being turned in to “Las Vegas penthouse” style 😜
If I had £5m I would consider buying this property rather than an apartment for the same price. It has outside space and is big enough for a young couple maybe, not so great as a family home though. Also, the owners would definitely get their steps in walking up and down those stairs!
One of the more humble looking homes that actually seems liveable. Like, the house is nicer than most, but at the same time it's not a 'palace' that some people seem to think they can take with them... The top floor view is very nice.
I've seen more beautiful homes on this channel, it's a nice home, but seems cramped despite its size. But I suppose thats the London property market for you.
@@seansmith445 Well I know it's England, and I know London can be hot in summer. England has humidity too, air conditioning can supress excess moisture in the air whatever season it is. I cannot sleep well without AC too...
There's no room to swing a cat in that house... the rooms are so pokey. No parties because with more than six guests the room would feel like a street in Calcutta. Oh, by the way, was there a service room with a washing machine and all the other bits and bobs necessary for cleaning a five storey house? Gasp, dragging a hoover up and down five flights of stairs. No, not at all pratical!
No floorplan and no link to the listing. Does someone want to actually sell this house? And just for the record, no, nobody in Islington would leave a Ferrari parked outside.
Are we buying the personal property like the art work & gong? Do you cook in the basement? Agree steps are too tight. House is beautiful. Mostly great tour.
Omg was that the kitchen. This place did not demonstrate a good use of space. It seemed to have 4-5 different living areas and a quarter of a rubbish kitchen 😂
Wonderful neighborhood but what a terrible taste in design! The highlights for me are the bathrooms. The decoration is poorly done and the artwork is downright hideous. They should hire a good interior designer.
Where is the kitchen. I thought I one downstairs was for the Nanny. Seriously five million pounds. Nope no way. The ornate moulding has been removed along with flooring. Flooring looks engineered.
So many people in the comment section talking about how expensive it is and better deals outside of London blah blah. The funny thing is go buy a house in the sticks for this money and see difficult it is to sell and how much money you loose. you can never go wrong in London
I love London with all my heart but I don't like this house. I get why it's £5m for the location and size of the property but I would rather spend that sort of money for a more spacious house in London. This one makes me feel claustrophobic. The stairs are so narrow and the house just seems bland to me. I love minimalism and clean neutral lines - but something lacking here.
When he pointed to the glass Popeye crap and called it fabulous art, I knew this guy was clueless, lol. And seriously, to have a garden and just make it lawn?? Robots. What a waste.
The decor is lacking for the price, and the interior design needs work. However the property for the price is large and has a lot going for it, including the garden, terrace etc. I think with a good interior designer the property could be amazing. Definitely a lot of potential.
Too old and too expensive... not a place to permanently..But good for short stays (a week or two). Lack of elevator in a five floor house will be trying even for a young couple.
I hate the horrible old regency/early Victorian houses. They're too small, badly insulated, narrow to do anything worthwhile with. Just demolish them and build better, more spacious, well insulated homes that have a better flow to them, and that does NOT translate to open plan which is equally as badly thought through
Kept waiting to see the kitchen, then realized that sad little thing downstairs was it lol
Frrrr
Yup. It was a nothing kitchen. The marketing that “No expense spared”, nonsense.
And the basement + kitchen could be occupied by a nànny or lodger!!

I hope you win the lottery and buy this house, as your childhood memories would certainly enhance experience there, and honor this lovely circle.
That is just what I thought about railing you sound like you had a very happy childhood round that way
Its lovely and beautiful, but for 5m... Just buy a country house with loads of space!!!
Not everyone wants a lot of space or to live outside of london
Its not the house itself thats worth 5mil, the location is what give it the value.
Views of some of the finest council estates in North London!
better than looking at sheeps and cows and being an hours drive from anywhere
The main kitchen is in the basement, and that is the floor your nanny might have...strange
Funny, we sold this kind of house in 2018 and went to the countryside. So much memories seeing this house where we renovated it for 7 years long and then we sold it.

It’s unfortunate that interiors fail to do justice to the exteriors.

The stairs are so narrow, how can you get couches and other furniture up to the various levels?
IKEA 😃
Pivot!
Pay someone else to do it
Take a window out and hoist that sucker?
They use furniture hoist companies. Big long crane to lift the couch to the correct floor and pop it through the window!
You pay for location location. The stairs are so narrow I don't think it would be to code in California. Some nice features I would take a bigger nicer place alittlle further from central London
So clean and elegant but almost completely devoid of any of the historical details in it's transformation to appease the modern sensibility.
