- Queen Elizabeth II formally reopened the UK Parliament with a speech from the throne in the House of Lords on Thursday, outlining the new government's legislative agenda heading into 2020. This will be the second Queen's Speech the monarch has delivered in 10 weeks.
After a snap election was called shortly after the Queen's Speech in October, an election campaign ensued for several weeks until Prime Minister Boris Johnson won a majority for the Conservatives on December 12.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson welcomed 109 new Conservative lawmakers to parliament on Monday, promising to honour his election-winning pledges to get Brexit done as soon as possible and boost funding for the state health service.

I’m sorry to hear that, but the countries that still have a monarchy are for a reason. In those countries the monarchy works very well and they’re a simple way to keep their countries united. Otherwise if monarchy don’t exist anymore in the UK, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland would be independent nations and there be no reason to keep a House of Lords and commons, because the lords won’t be no more lords and the commons won’t be commons anymore. As well, the economy and political structure of the UK would be in danger until the crisis passes.
There you see, it’s a very difficult process to end a monarchy and more if it’s working for the people.

@@jcampo4 she has been dethroned. Her speech in October she wore the crown and regalia, this one in plain clothes. Buckingham Palace now boarded up, RAF guards replaced usual guards, and insignia gone from the gate. Documents were served on the royal family proving illegitimacy of her monarch

No but really. Britain isn't feudal society for a very long time now. Feudalism is a controversial concept that has been criticised by modern historians and even if we go with the traditional definition, feudalism is a system in which lords award lands to their loyal servants in exchange for further service. Britain doesn't work like that. I just say they are a constitutional monarchy and we can begin our criticism from there.

Only a select few in the commonwealth (Canada, Australia, New Zealand and few Caribbean countries) still maintain the British Head of State. Charles Smith Her Majesty wasn’t in “street clothes”, this was a stripped down ceremony because this was the second speech in a matter of months. Also, given the weight of the crown (2.2 lbs) our Queen hasn’t worn the crown for a while now, she’s been wearing a diamond diadem instead.
In regards to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, may I suggest google or watch the news? It’s a developing story, the details are still coming together.

In the UK aswel as in the Netherlands King and Queen read the speech made up by the gouvernement. In Denmark Queen Margarete just attends the ceremony leaving delivering the speech to the prime minister. A better idea in my opinion. A head of state sould never be a sort of parrot for the government of the day.
