He strikes the outer set of doors three times and someone else strikes the inner set. In the opening of the Australian Parliament, the doors are glass due to the modern architecture of the building. Black Rod does not strike those doors since they are already opened.

He is the 6th highest person in England and Wales (not counting the Royal Family). The Speaker only usually wears that robe during the State Opening or other events in Parliament when the Queen herself appears.

Some of them were still blabbering away as the Queen began her speech. FFS, how many more of these do they think she can carry out? watching any royal event makes me proud to be british! if not for the monarchy we would be no where near as prosperous as we are now! the queen and the monarchy is the figure head of this country and a huge part of our histrionic traditions and culture! and at 91 years old she still actively serves her country. i only wish she took back some power to hold the leash of the government because the government only seems to be running this country into the ground the two main parties are collectively destroying our country! the queen show step in have a word.
