The Iron 1200 can do it all. I ride 15,000 miles a year and travel to places like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, Great Smokey Mts., Outer Banks, and others and rarely travel faster than 65 mph. The Iron 1200 can do the same with ease.
I hate the term beginner bike, the Iron is way more than that. I've owned three big twins and if I could I'd sell my current big twin and but an Iron. The Sportsters are much more fun to ride than a big twin. Some older Sportsters had a four gallon tank which would extend the range. I don't find any problems with a five speed gear box. The rpm at highway speeds seem just fine to me. Of course I don't travel at 90 mph like some younger people do.
It's not a "beginner bike". That's the 883. But I would steer a new rider towards the 1200 because they'll get used to that 883 too quickly IMHO.
Just got one with 600 miles on it, looks exactly like this one. I’ve never been on anything more than 600cc dirt bike, for being my first street legal bike at 23 I love it.
Motosarge I bought my boy a 1200 custom sporster in Columbus Ga for his graduation he put 48000 miles on it and still a great bike he bought him a 2015 street glide and loves it he rides the sporster every know and then ps keep up the great work and love the shows Gods blessings for you
I really like the old school tank graphics on the newer sporty’s, I think they look great. They’re perfect for people who are starting off or smaller riders because you can easily lower them and make them fit smaller people. Plus it’s a Harley, you can’t go wrong!
As for cruise control, I HAD to get that on my new Street Bob because I’ll be doing a bunch of road trips and camping trips and cruise control is a must! One day I’d like to get a 5gal tank to squeeze out some more miles per tank on my bike, but that’ll have to come WAY later, the 3.5gal tank I have will do for now, it’s not that bad.
Love the videos brother! Keep up the great work!
I'd like one. My thoughts are Memphis Shades fairing and forward controls. I'm 6'3, but really like this bike.
Awesome video thanks! I have the same bike! My first Harley! It’s an awesome Sportster reminds me of the old Nightster and the 1200 has a lot of torque! Ride safe bro!
I been riding for many years I’m 55 years old I had many bikes Triumphs,HD ,Victory ,a few metric bikes I’m honestly considering getting this bike With a 1200 cc engine and the light bike there are so many mods for this bike and it’s just so bad ass I’m a minimalist when it comes to my bikes I love the simple basic wind in your face look and ride and this bike is so affordable Honestly I have never owned a brand new bike and this is something that’s affordable brand new and I actually miss my 89 sportster more then all of the bikes I owned
Finally back at it! I really enjoy filming and bringing these test ride videos to you all. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. 😂
iive been doing my research an testing riding for awhile an im still stuck between the sportster 48 an the 1200. However the foward controls on the 48 an that smaller tank is having me locked on that one for my next person bike instead of my 1989 sportster 883. As for the whole sportster line they are very nice bikes to ride here in zanesville and columbus areas. Do you possibly got any advice that might help one make a decision between the forty-eight and the 1200
The first Motorcycle I train on so you know would love to own one grate for beginners.
Love Sporty's because they are so customizable and the Evo is the last of the true harley sound. I hate the 70's paint though being that it's a throwback to the AMF years which was such a low point for the company
I have a Kawasaki Versys-X 300. That is a beginner bike. I am in the market for a used Sportster and after riding one, I am glad I chose the Kawasaki for my first motorcycle. I don’t think a Sportster is an ideal beginner bike. I hope to find the Sportster for me soon.
I'm not sure why people call the Sportster a beginner/entry level bike. I think that term is more applicable to my Yamaha TW200. My 1200 Sportster is huge in comparison and is faster in 2nd gear than my TW in 5th. No cruise control, but the Sportster does have a throttle lock. I haven't used it yet.
As a owner of this bike,i find city traffic not fun at all, that oil tank gets hot under your butt. For long rides the seat has to go,it is not the greatest. Having only 5 gears it is all right ,but it would be nice to have that 6th gear. Other then that i love my iron 1200
Not a bad bike at all man! Hope you had a good Christmas and will have a safe new year.
Hard work , work... Wait a minute, test riding nice bikes ain't hard work Sarge!!! Good vid as always!
😂😂😂. Not at all. Love having this opportunity to throw a leg over several Harley’s. Thanks for watching.
I never rode a motorcycle or had to switch gears in a vehicle but I’m gona get this
Juice bar hoppin😂
Great Vid. My brother had an AMF Sportster in the mid 70s. Had almost the exact same paint... Cool! I LOVE the 360 effects. BTW... what did you do with your shoe laces?? :p
Thanks for watching and it was fun rolling the 360 footage again finally. I run blue laces on the right and red on the left. Something I did a couple years ago for the 4th of July and just never changed it. Kind of like the MERICA vibe they give off. 😂
Brother, I think you’re about ready to add a Road King Special to your fleet! Merry Christmas to you and yours. Let’s clean our nation up, lead our community well, make a positive impact every day. Cause someone to smile, grow someone’s hope for better days ahead.
Merry Christmas to you as well brother. That road king special would be an awesome addition to he garage.
I agree, it’s time we all strive to make a positive impact on someone’s life.
@@MOTOSARGE I’ve heard it said, “get our hands dirty in the lives of others”...
Man I just moved down to Florida from Fort Benning. Loved riding downtown
Bet you are enjoying that Florida weather a little more though! Happy holidays brother.
@@MOTOSARGE came across your video and enjoy it. I look at this bike a few day's ago hopefully ill be able to get it in 6 months to a year. Im taking the msf course this weekend and im excited and nervous
Hi,how tall are you? And what about me?my height is 183 cm, will it be comfortable for me? Will the bike be too small for me?
I got this bike yesterday. The stock seat is rough.
Cant believe Harley discontinued this. Uggg!!!
Can you wheelie these things ?
Good video.
I'm 6'5 and wear 32 length pants. I know all about upper body height! Lmao
Good deal 👌
Fun little bike.
Thumbs up cool video catch you later brother
Thanks for watching Mr G!
Sporties don't look right w/ a bigger tank than that.
I don’t judge a motorcycle until I ride it and I just rode it and it’s a ladies bike.
So you bought it???? 😂😂😂
Minus the music
Thanks for watching. 👍
Calling it bar hopping is kinda funny... shouldn't really be drinking and riding.
If I get a sportster I'm definitely putting a subcage and 12 bar on it and sending it like CBear...although I don't think I'll be that good ever 😂
The music is too loud over the talking ... much more interested in what you both have to say rather than the elevator music !
Appreciate the feedback. It’s a fine line when throwing “elevator” music in the videos but it does clean out some wind noise when riding. Just have to find that right balance. 🤷♂️
Good review man, I’m digging these iron 1200 sportsters. Subscribed!
Wow did i just hear Ft Benning Harley Davidson ?? I was stationed there back in 82 for 2 years . Im 60 now and have been looking at this bike same color and at 6'1" i was a little apprehensive about ,maybe being way to tall for it .....great video BTW
I was looking at the 883 but now I’m sold on the 1200 and the 48…..hard to choose!!!!!!
Good to see the 360 back in action. Love my Sportster. They are so fun. Had my stick mount fail too so I 2 part epoxied my camera mount to my helmet. I'll shoot you over a couple pics on what I did.
I really like the different perspective the 360 adds to the motovlog but damn it adds time to the workflow. 😂
@@MOTOSARGE Yeah I bet. Adding that to my wish list. Hoping by April for my Tail of the Dragon ride.
I have owned a 1200 for almost two years. Plenty of power, gaps 103 dynas and baggers all day long. Long distance isnt the greatest but you can easily manage it. Just a good all around bike. Not perfect for anything, but good at everything.
How is riding two up?
@@Brentmovson haven’t done much of it. If I had to make a opinion on it I’d say it’s not the best for longer trips. 1 hour rides at the most.
I wanna see someone ride one that actually has ABS. And I actually like the paint. Red, white, and blue for the veteran . Bro, I'm still trying to get my first Harley. Used to own a Honda.
Merry Christmas and happy new year and Gods blessings for you and your family
Merry Christmas and happy New Year for you and your family too Sir.
Liked the vid
Merry christmas and a happy new year from me and mine to you and yours sarge.
Merry belated Christmas to you and yours as well brother! Hope you have a fun and safe New Years!
Fixing to buy a 1200 Nightster can't wait!
best thing about 2020 sportsters is that they are only $9000 brand new
How’s two up?
Unfortunately I rode solo on my test ride.
Pick me up some Pad Thai at Chili Thai.
Haven’t had that place. Worth trying?
@@MOTOSARGE Yes!
nice ride 👍
Surprisingly fun to ride too.
Surprisingly fun to ride too.
I wonder how much longer these will be in production. That little 1200 can scoot but it’s so outdated compared to most modern bikes coming out.
It is outdated but sometimes old is the new HOTNESS! LOL.
