the lightly roasted bunny is cracking me up! poor guy never stood a chance. and the clear resin just magnifies his eternal suffering 😂 great turning regardless 👍
LOL Eternal suffering!! I love it. I never even thought about the fact that he has been preserved in time showing his eternal suffering 🤣 I hope I don't get jail time for cruel and unusual punishment of a Peep
Thanks Jerald! Yeah, I'm thinking the pressure pot might have been the biggest culprit on this project. Going to have to try with a slow setting resin with no pressure next time😀
I know, he shriveled up and looked a little menacing actually 🤣 It was a fun project though, definitely have to do some more experiments with marshmallows
Thanks Anne! I had a blast making this one! It was a bit silly, and I'm sad that the peep looked so funky in the end, but we learned some lessons from it 😀
Hi Zac! I am new to your channel and was amazed that the peep didn't just turn into a blob. Love the faux burl. Looked like great fun! Great try. Yes, I subscribed and hit the bell. Thank you for sharing your work. I do have a question, I watched someone turn a honeycomb blank and they said that you made it. Do you have a video of making one and do you make them bigger? It was just beautiful and looked just like honey.
Hey Dotty, thanks for the kind words and for subscribing, really appreciate it 😀 I have a couple videos that show me casting honeycomb blanks: ua-cam.com/video/bJkJFIyQzJE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Y4SK6LfYaK4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/PTMWh4hYY3c/v-deo.html I make some stopper size blanks for Carl Jacobson and Niles Bottle Stoppers, you can pick them up here: nilesbottlestoppers.com/product/honeycomb-resin-blank/ Cheers, Zac
That was quite instructive. Biggest problem I’d have would not be eating all the Peeps before casting one. 😬. Mr Peep looked rather angry at the end there. I wonder if encapsulating it in a thin layer of epoxy resin first would work. I’ve found that works well with Oreo cookies
LOL I think Mr. Peep was very mad at me 🤣 I actually realized after I posted this video that the one thing I didn't think about was the pressure pot. I think I need to revisit this using a slow setting low exotherm resin without using pressure, might just do the trick if it doesn't melt 🤔
Thanks! It helps the resin flow into the little cracks and crevices better. If it were cold, the resin can tend to pull away. I recommend it for square molds, silicone molds, and/or molds with fine detail in them.
That might work to keep it from melting all over, but I realized that I think the issue with the deforming might be caused by the pressure pot. Didn't even occur to me that the marshmallow is probably full of air bubbles until after I was done with the video
Maybe let it get stall in like a week or two. Mozzarella stick are frozen before they are deep fried. Also museums will paint a layer of resin on the skeletons let that harding a day or so and the fully cast it.
@@curtisthorn13 No worries at all! You might have missed me talking about it, and I always welcome ideas and discussion. I wouldn't have thought of freezing it first

Marshmallow has a lot of air, so not surprised it deformed. Actually turned out better then I expected. I enjoy you videos.

Air bubbles in pressure pot is what I was thinking as well. Great experiment though!
It's Beautiful & Sad at the same time 😁
That's exactly how I felt about it. I just couldn't look Mr. Peep in the eyes LOL
It was like Mr Peep dehydrated in there lol Awesome project anyways. The pale burl turned out awesome. Thank you Zac.

Very interesting project Zac. Was fun to watch and I love the Easter colored burl. Thanks for the video!

“Save the peep”😂. interesting and fun tutorial Zac
LOL I tried to save him, but the damage was too much 😬
That my friend is a Martian Rabbit. Looks great Zac
LOL just depends on how you present it. Easter project... fail.... Martian Bunny egg... totally nailed it! 🤣
That's a cool egg Zac ! Twisted one eyed bunny and all! Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Dave
Thanks David, he is a little squished LOL

"FrankNPeep" LOL. It definitely looks better than I would have expected. Enjoyed as always, 👍.
It does look like an evil peep or something now 😂

You gave it a great try. But the faux burl gave me an idea for making a bottle stopper. Hmmmmmm
Awesome!! I always hope that these videos can spark ideas for folks! Have fun getting creative! 😀
Maybe coat it with 10 coats thin CA to create a shell.
Cool project! What's with the heating up of the mould?

@@ZacHiggins That's a great tip, never heard that one. Thanks for the response!
may be use cactus juice to stabilize it first, then cast it. still came out ok
Poor Peep. He looks beat up. 🤣😂🤣
Momma said there'll be days like this 😆
What if I freeze the mallow first
Maybe try drying the peep?
I did try a stale peep too at the end of the video. I don't think moisture is the issue, just melted due to temp and possibly other factors
What about making a bunny mold and use a resin bunny?
That should work great!! I think Peep vs Silicone is on the list to try out now!!
Maybe try covering peeps with a thin layer of resin first?
That might work to keep it from melting all over, but I realized that I think the issue with the deforming might be caused by the pressure pot. Didn't even occur to me that the marshmallow is probably full of air bubbles until after I was done with the video
freeze the peep with dry ice just before pouring the resin.
Interesting idea 🤔
Maybe let it get stall in like a week or two. Mozzarella stick are frozen before they are deep fried. Also museums will paint a layer of resin on the skeletons let that harding a day or so and the fully cast it.
Those are all good ideas. I did let the second test sit for about a week, maybe week and a half. Frozen peep might be worth trying out though too!
@@ZacHiggins sorry bro. I commented before watching to the end there you said most of the comments.

the "Ugly Chick" grew up to be a beautiful Hen
It sure did! =D
