This was such a masterful performance - from the vocal colors, accents, registers, and all of it with an amazing presence of the brightest smile ever and hips of magic!
Oh, this lady can sing and dance - in her own spectacular style! One of a kind. Watch that deadpan delivery - she is hilarious by doing very little. She is a wonderful actor who has something going on beneath the surface all the time.
This was something her and Tommy tune Kmart with because she's 6 foot 2 flat foot you can't jump in prancs around like a fairy or be a glamorous floating partner to a suave male dancer because they were all five foot something tool does she have to come up with the way to use her vehicle that portrayed what does music portrayed and got the image across to the audience that was visually appealing and made sense I wasn't forced or silly. Her father was a black man that was white there was a genetic issue and secret have been black because their father was black her mother said to her on her first date keep your knees together Carol because you could have a black baby!! Lol but when you look at her U can see she has the elegance and the willowy slender limbs and the beautiful teeth and cheekbones and thick hair. .. but her gift was being able to roll her eyes and glare at someone or something in the theatre and people 150-200 meters at the back could see it. 😍😍💜💜💜💜🙏🙏
She was playing Lorelei Lee email and made out to be a sweet ditzy lovely gorgeous innocent girl but has Carol says she was a wh*re. She was out robbing and stealing and cunning men out of their wives jewels Hollywood glamorise that it was a bit more riske
Brilliance meets Brilliance: Carol Channing meets Leo Robin and Jule Styne. Musical Theatre students, watch Channing's precious economy and wise delivery. Her love for the audience is beyond measure.
@leeinvegas same for me in Ft. Lauderdale - the audience very much including me adored her - I was very grateful for the opportunity - I love this clip - must have watched 20 times
Oh she can dance, dance very well. The movement that she is doing here is a deliberate style. It is for comic value. Her special with Pearl Bailey is worth the watch. It is kind of amazing to see her impersonate other people...one realizes how she created a "Carol" persona every bit as effective as "Marlyn" created a Norma Jean
@snelpiller Carol is a Broadway Legend. She was the one who made Gentlemen Prefer Blonds and Hello Dolly huge hits. She has excellent comedic timing, and she was one of the original "funny voice" ladies. She's funny and makes people laugh. Her songs may not be pitch perfect, but the fact that they make people smile is part of their appeal. You go see Carol when you want to have an enjoyable evening.
She is absolutely crazy. But she could teach the rest of us a thing or two about job security. How many years did she do "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes?" You know, between "Hello, Dolly" revivals :-P
@snelpiller After I wrote my response to you I thought, "I should have mentioned how many entertainers impersonate her." LOL @ Ryan's impressions of her. She's going to be 90 in 2011, so she's been around a long time. She's been impersonated since the 1960's (which is before my time as well) and been famous since the late 1940's. You not knowing about her isn't odd at all. Actually, the thought of an 18 year old Swedish lad who's an expert on Carol Channing WOULD BE odd & hilarious to me:)
@WikeddTung This is not the best performance to see why Miss Channing is so beloved. Although she was never a "great" singer, she can do far better than this. And usually her comic timing is impeccable.
If you go back to the original broadway lyrics of a lot of shows, you’ll find that Hollywood censors really rewrote a ton of songs. It happened to this, it happened to Kiss Me Kate, it happened to every Cole Porter musical that was ever made into a movie. It even happened to Oklahoma. Ado Annie does NOT sing the original lyrics to I’m Just a Girl Who Can’t Say No. lol. I found this all out in the early 70s listening to my parents’ records of the Broadway plays and it drove me nuts when I was a kid because I always wanted what I had seen in the movie to be right. As an adult I find myself irritated by the censorship and wish I could have my beloved movies, which are iconic and wonderful, have the clever lyrics of the original play. Sigh.....
She is (she's 97 now) one of a kind. Multi- talented and she's endured as a star for decades. You need to see a variety of her performances. She is a legend. Btw, do you think Louis Armstrong was awful?
I've got to be honest....I watch this video almost every day.
Ok, did you watch it today? And everyday for the past 5 years?
Capital City Transit United don’t doubt me capital city transit united
This comment made My
day 😍😍💜💜😁😁💯
What is it about Carol Channing that is so adorable? She can't sing but I love hearing her and watching her. What an entertainer!
May she rest in peace. What a legend
This was such a masterful performance - from the vocal colors, accents, registers, and all of it with an amazing presence of the brightest smile ever and hips of magic!
I had this stuck in my head yesterday, a little premonition may I say. Blessed be your soul Carol
I had "Diamonds are a girls best friend" in my head just before i heard that she died.
Utterly charming!
Excellent Performer on stage. Beautiful Stage Presence.
God Rest Her Soul.

Worth watching and listening. Carol just passed away.
You Go, Girl!
Saw you in "Hello, Dolly!"
RIP Carol.
omg i looove this woman
So way cool! The way she shakes her hips is as provocative as Elvis's hip-twisting, but I've always loved that song.
Love it!!!!! And I am seriously wanting to do the same to my hometown.
Carol is just super vivacious!
What an awesome performance! 🎭
What a talented Lady. Wicked footage of this classic song ❤️❤️❤️
R.I.P. I love you.
This was amazing. I have the Broadway album and am aware the lyrics were changed for the Monroe version, Greta to actually see Carol do this live!!!!!
Well, even more proof it was wonderful... for Garbo to come out and see Carol live.
What a star
a great star ! I was lucky enough to see her in the original Dolly.
What a genius. unbelievable
Female entertainers of this era were never afraid to be laughed at when times were hard.
She was a comedienne.
@@K.Ginger-Rogers Everyone on these boards is 12 years old. They don't understand that Carol and others would worry about NOT being laughed at.
She was playing Lorelei Lee email and made out to be a sweet ditzy lovely gorgeous innocent girl but has Carol says she was a wh*re. She was out robbing and stealing and cunning men out of their wives jewels Hollywood glamorise that it was a bit more riske
I MISS HER SO MUCH!!!!🤣🤣
Carol was a PRO.
Rest in peace ❤️
Gone! But still here, with us! Forever!

Oh, Richard, we're in sync, I'm just finding this tonight, also! I'm nostalgic tonight ~ I share your love for CAROL
Love her
Broadway Royalty!
How can someone with such a rough voice be so charming?? She is always just adorable. I love Jazz Baby from Thoroughly Modern Millie.
This is a nice uplifting video to watch every day! I think I'll do that too!
I am now officially addicted to Carrol Channing!
Genius and Genius

2:02!!!! "Up!"
I got to see here in Detroit in Hello Dolly" in her last time in the 80's
Watch and learn.
@2:02 Did she just BURP?!
She's like Eartha Kitt - not necessarily the best voice, but one that's so unique it can be hilarious if used right.
Explain cest si Bon🫡
I’ve never noticed how big her mouth is, like it can open so wide
@DivaBehavior She meant fished as in "fishing for a compliment"...
I can't think of her without thinking of Ryan now.
She is absolutely crazy. But she could teach the rest of us a thing or two about job security. How many years did she do "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes?" You know, between "Hello, Dolly" revivals :-P
“Not only had she parked her car in a doctor’s spot” 😂😂😂
2:02
"up" lmfao
I closed my eyes and listened and Ryan Stiles sounds EXACTLY like her! lol
Emily B. Rich Little used to do a fabulous impression of her. And he mentioned he loved her too!
@snelpiller

@WikeddTung You should have seen her in her hey-day...
DrDespicable I've seen some films in her hayday! She was Beautifull!
"UP"
You just got a reply to a comment you posted 2 1/2 years ago.
She sounds like the mouse off Thumbelina... is she?!😂
Yes!!
Now you have a reply from a comment you posted three and a half years ago.

Swear to god i read in a book this was hillary clintons favorite song. .hmm what's this song about ? Haa kinda funny
Wtf this is not two littl girls from Little Rock. She changed so much of the lyrics
Yes it is. Carol Channing originated the role on Broadway in 1949. These are the original lyrics of the song.
Yes, it was not originally a duet.

how did this lady ever become famous? just awful!
Lady? We may not have a lady here.

I think she’s talented in her own way, but I think this performance is the pits
