Aww, you are so young and with this kind of business you can do so much. Meanwhile, I have my daycare at home, I'm still trying to get my bachelor in Child Development so I can be the owner of a huge center with 100 kiddos. I hear you are from Peru :) me too, I had the dream of opening my home daycare for a long time I own a home in a community with a HOA in California I went to the HOA office 8 years ago and they told me not you can't have a business running from your home and a child care is a business :( I just read that is illegal for the HOA TO prohibit you to open a child care regardless where you house is located is that right?
Years ago I found my dream house but it had HOA regulations and sadly, I couldn’t open my childcare there. But under California state law, for example, landlords cannot prevent tenants from using residential rental premises as licensed family day cares. In fact, any clause you might have in your lease or rental agreement prohibiting a family day care is considered void.
What is my first step? I have a house and I have a room set up for daycare. Do I take the online orientation first or do I get my fingerprints done first ? I am lost at what the first step is
Sadly anybody can open a home daycare in California. You don’t need a degree or any early child education to become a daycare provider. Yes of course you can open a center , the regulations are 10 times harder than a daycare. You will need to hire a director , teachers and aids to run a center. Everything is posible you , a business plan will be important to have.

Hello Brian, you the owner must have all the requirements, and to be honest is very easy to get the license. Now if you are not confortable with kids I recommend you have extra help. When I opened my small childcare it was just me by myself. Later on, I decided to open a large childcare and now we are a team of 3. Licensing requires you ( the owner) to be present. Unless you decide to have one of your assistant in your license (joined) . However your present is very important. I take a vacation every year and my assistant are in charge during my absence and licensing is aware of my vacation. Good luck and subscribe in my channel for new videos 💙

@@DeSorboE21 here in California your children will count your ratio if they are under 13 years old. In my case, I have two spots less because of my children. But with a large childcare I can have 12 spots plus 2 for my children (5, 11 years old )

Hi there! Quick question: Is it better for taxes to be a single member LLC or a multiple member LLC for an in home daycare business?
If you have a home childcare I will recommend to do your taxes as a sole proprietor. LLCs are more expensive.
