I had a rosewood fretboard that wasn't as dark as I wanted. I bought a stain marker, (I think a Stanley), and used that on the fretboard. Easy to do, cheap, turned out great, and never came off on my fingers. 👍
Very crafty...
Just on things from the past. I think it's time for a guitar collection update
I just like that the truss rod can be adjusted from the headstock so you don’t have to unscrew the neck
Interesting!! Cheers Steve!!
i have a player plus stratocaster with a pau ferro board and i got it to look beautiful by using monty's guitars montepresso fretboard wax. darkens it up nicely and brings out the beautiful grain. also, it feels as good as rosewood.
Hi Steve - Couldn't help but notice a Vola box in the background. Is that a new Vola in your collection??
I love Rosewood, so glad they’re going back to using it for the Vintera II ‘s. Ironically enough, the one I’m most interested in is the ‘70s Jaguar, which they’re doing in Maple….😁
Vintera 2? Hmmmm! Well over a grand for a MIM now is a bit crazy. I can get used Highway Ones and American Specials for that price.
No Esquire. No fiesta red 60s Strat either. 70s Strats in 50s colours? Hmmmmm.
Thankfully I’ve never been a sucker for the Pau Ferro malarkey. I held off and I’m glad I did.
This is why I've been waiting to buy one!
I'm also waiting for the blackface champ reissue!
yo. The audio level is really low for me on this vid, was fine in the FLAMMA vid. just thought ud want to know with the new interface.
I dont mind Pao Ferro if its highly figured, the really plain stuff isnt nice though
I believe rosewood,is what makes a guitar smell good when you open the case, some LP owners say it smells like vanilla, most likely how it got it's name.
I understood that the vanilla smell came from the nitro finish that Gibson uses. I could be wrong.
Yay rosewood!
That's a fine looking guitar.
More importantly…what’s with that Vola box behind you Mr. Steve???
A lot of pau ferro is to redish for me or like a sandy brown. Yes yes bring back the rose wood. I also lokes when Gretsch used black walnut for the fret bord for a short time but I liked it.
The best guitars had Dark Ebony Fret boards lol.
I think Rosewood is back. I have been seeing a lot of new guitars with "Rosewood" from a variety of manufacturers.
It is all a marketing game. Rosewood from India has been grown as a managed crop for about 150 years. Like all crops some trees are better and so their seeds are used for better and faster growing trees etc. Bottom line it does not cost more than Pau ferro in fact it is half the price. The best Indian rosewood is still $10 cheaper than Pau Ferro It is renewable as the planting over the 150 years just keeps getting bigger. India for a thousand years loves rosewood for furniture so with the size of a fret board it is a small market for them.
They needed to bring back the Rosewood for the Tom Delonge Strat reissue dropping next week
I never liked pau ferro so i think this is great, but i'll never pay $1,150 for a Mexican Fender
I've seen some Classic vibes Squiers that had the most ugly looking Pau Ferro. It kinda looked like cardboard. Yep rosewood gets the thumbs up from me !
