The Limited Edition Waylon Jennings Telecaster | Dream Factory | Fender
/ fender
Honestly, it's long overdue that one of the most iconic Telecaster players ever gets a signature model.
thay already had one back in the 90's. This is the second time they've offered a Waylon signature model....the only difference, it costs 5 times as much.
Yes please make more of them and keep the cost down for us real fans 🤟
Waylon's leather-clad Tele & Bruce's Esquire mutt are what made me want to be a Tele player.
Rock on!
Very nice that the originals stayed in the family.
Only one of Waylon’s five main guitars remains in the family: the No. 1, a ‘53.
It’s about time! $25k is way above my means but I’m glad they’re at least doing this. Been a Waylon fan all my life. Had the pleasure of opening for Shooter & The Waymore’s Outlaws in Charleston, WV. Shooter and the other guys were so cool. Ritchie Albright was an absolute pleasure to talk to. RIP my friend!
The guitar belonged to Waylon's bass player in Phoenix. There is a youtube video of him telling the story. Waylon would play it when they practiced at his house. The band had it covered in leather and gave it to him on his birthday.
Like alotta Waylon stories, this one didn’t see the light of day until after Waylon passed.
Waylon Jennings & Johnny Cash has always been my 2 all-time favorite country artist
And they had more rock n roll in them than country
Have you ever read Waylon’s autobiography? He and Johnny actually roomed together in the early days in Nashville!
Same. I'm a snob when it comes to country music. Waylon, Johnny Cash, Hank Sr and Jr, Merle Haggard, and that's about it.
That is simply a lie@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808
There was a trampoline place next to J Ds and we would go there to jump on. We heard your dad playing with his band it was great time. Parents would drop us off there for the evening.
It is a very important guitar and it sucks to be a lefty. I met Waylon at the Bradley Barn sessions I think that was Shooter with him there. What a nice guy Waylon was to me there a nobody. He just came in and hung out with George Jones. I was in charge of Georges teleprompter at the time. Waylon was very interested in the teleprompter I don't think he knew about them for on stage lyrics till that day. He sat beside me and we talked a lot. Such a great memory for me. Waylon had his on way of picking. My entire family loves him. It's about time a tribute guitar was made for him.
A work of art
We're honored!
I'm so glad Fender decided to make a Waylon Jennings guitar. They made a great choice of having Cody Hixson do the leather wrapping, he did mine about 2 years ago and absolutely love it, he does a great job. A well honored tribute guitar to Waylon
I saw your dad four times. Once with ol whatshisname. Best of the best.
I did NOT know about that banjo tuner! I may have to modify my own tele now, hahaha! So cool!
The Clarence White ‘Byrds’ tele and has been Marty Stuart’s since the early 80’s has the banjo tuners on both E strings. Clarence had them installed and Marty has never changed them.
Being a Waylon fan, I was excited until I saw the price point...I would like to see Fender offering Waylon and Don Rich signature guitars real fans can actually buy.
Yea why by a car or house when you can spend $25,000 on a paisley tele
That ship sailed for Fender years ago. I don’t even bother looking up the prices anymore
It’s a telecaster with a leather wrap! I like the guitar but why does it cost ten times what it would cost to get a road worn and put a leather wrap on it
@@earlycuyler8719 Exactly, this guitar has been copied for years, for a fraction of what Fender asks. Anyone buying this is a fool
@SubversionGarage get a job dude!
Always loved looking at this on the beginning of The Dukes of Hazzard
The one shown in the intro of the DoH is the oddball, markedly different than this cover. Do you know where that Tele is today?
@@waylor1Keith Richards owns the oddball
@@Roystothecoolkid your name MrBigg7255?
I'd LOVE to have an early-style Precision bass ('51, '52, or '53) with the slab body done with the Waylon hand-tooled leather cover!!
Harley Benton needs to make one of these.
That guitar is burned into my mind, epic that this is happening! I would be stoked just to play one let alone own one.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Man, I grew up on real country music but for some reason, I never really got the sound, I guess. That all changed one day when I was watching old Porter Wagoner show's. Porter introduced a handsome young man in a suit playing a 12 string Martin. Porter said let's give a big hand for WAYLON JENNINGS! I mean he screamed his name. I never saw a picture of Waylon Jennings without, well... young and handsome. That was the start of learning more about him, and learning his music. Especially the old ones. From folk country to Goin down rockin, and the stuff in the middle. Oh yeah, I sing and play guitar too. And I do impersonations of some artists too, like Waylon and Willie, George Jones, Buck and Don, alot of country artists! I'm originally from Newfoundland Canada and now in Ontario Canada. Read the autobiography too. Maybe that's why I feel like I knew him. We have other things in common too, me and him, but it don't matter now anyways. All the best to ya b'y...d.
I'll never own one, but this is absolutely epic.
Oh my oh my goodness golly gee whiz that is one sweet amazing piece of music history guitar. I am a 100 percent disabled veteran and I bet this cost a pretty penny, but it would be worth every one. Wow, what a beautifull piece and interesting the way Waylon rigged it up. It is so cool when you put the builder in these videos, and how the builder incorporates #1 and #2. This may be my favorite all time video. Shooter is a real awesome musician. He reminds me of the dude that plays the lead in the movie, "Badass."
Right! this video was captivating. I'm not even gonna look at the price (they don't call it a Dream Factory piece for nothing) but you're right, this thing is beautiful! I mean probably the coolest guitar ever I've ever seen. Love all the craftsmanship and what a cool story behind it too. I don't know anything about him, but Shooter seems chill AF and down to earth. I'd reckon he can tell a damn good story or two.
Maybe I can afford a banjo key and give that a try, I'd never seen/noticed that done before, cool move.
Rite on with the Dream Factory. Absolutely, Shooter is a really cool. The stories behind every guitar are always so cool. I put Banjo locking Schallers on my Les Pauls. They all are extreme short pegs, as the banjo headstock is about 1/8 thinner than a Paul. They fit by .5 a mm on the low E and about 1 mm on the high E. They are that low, but the added break angle by about a 3/16 inch on all the strings really helps out tuning stability for me.
@@M27USMC Oh wow, you have all banjo locks on a LP!? The G and D strings don't give you any trouble? Do the locks you use have "stoppers" or whatever they call them as seen in the video here? I'm not sure if that works how I think, like does it set the low and high points? and does it lock the string with an allen key? I'm thinking it might fit nice on my 72 tele deluxe reissue.
Thats one beautiful guitar
Call me crazy ,but I think Waylon having this leather wrapped guitar ,helped fuel the whole "Outlaw " image ,Waylon himself was looking rougher image wise, plus the way he played his guitar .was sucha primal and uncommerical sound . that not to many people can accurately play his style
Long before the outlaw movement began watching back in the early sixties with Chet Atkins and the Nashville music machine
I would love to have one , but could never play it live, that's " Ol Hoss's " guitar ...and we ain't him RIP Waylon❤
As Hank Jr sang, "Waylon's guitar had that sound"
one of my rushmore guitars. not because WJ was a guitar master, but because he was an ICON. and in instant identifier of who it belongs to and you automatically hear his music
I NEED THIS JUST BECAUSE OF THE DUKES OF HAZZARD INTRO!!!
Iconic guitar...good job Dave. 👍
Definitely the most recognizable guitar in Country music, maybe all genres of music
I would say Frankenstein is a bit more recognizable...
@@WilhelmWilder Yeah, I must agree, lol!
I wish we could post pictures on here, I carved a couple guitar bodies the same design as waylons wrapped leather. One black and white. The other is stained maple wood. You can see them in my short video section.
I like how the Custom Shop guy and Shooter decided to combine the features of #1 and #2, for the reasons explained 🙂! I knew that the two originals were still in the family, and that Shooter had one of them.
Lovely guitar, but I’ll bet they won’t get any “local guitar hero” types buying them, because you have to be majorly successful to be thinking about dropping 25 Grand on one guitar.
That’s not the No. 2 guitar.
I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but my jaw about dropped when I saw it was as much as a new car.
You have done Jerry’s alligator and now Waylon. My two favorites
Yall need to go check out Cody Hixson! He does good stuff and is based in Tennessee. He truly loves doing the leather work and he has great love for Waylon and Shooter! When he told me about this job he was doing my jaw dropped to the floor because of how cool it was.
my ultimate tele.
So cool!
Gorgeous
Only 70 made, and the video is 3 hours old…
Probably sold out already 😅
There's a guy in Nashville that does a copy of the leather work. Not sure who he is but a friend of mine has 2 of them and they were way cheaper than custom shop.
Where's the Floyd Rose trem? Why would they be making these guitars without fishman fluence pickups?
Shoot I’d love to own one
I’ve been waiting for this since I was a child
As awesome as Waylon was as a musician, he’s an even more legendary man
Used to see Shooter sing w Guns before Scott got the gig (Velvet Revolver). Im glad he went his own way. Those first few albums but the O backnin Country
The leather is really weird to me but I can’t deny that is one bad ass tele tone.
It would definitely be cool to just have one of these beautiful legendary guitars
It would be so dope to have a custom shop with the banjo tuner deal like that and a b and g bender.
Nice job on the leather-work, but a missed opportunity by Fender to get the correct EMG pickups Waylon used in his Telecaster.
Damn Shooter looks like Daddy!!
I want one, yep, definitely want one. Oh yeah did I mention I want one.😂
Bet that axe smells good with all that leather! 'Just the good ol' boys' at Fender did splendid on this. Please make a Squire Jennings! I have the John 5 Gold Squire Tele and its awsum! Great craftsmanship!
Wow. What a great looking stratocaster.
thats not a stratocaster, it's a les paul (jk)
@@theshuriken another great guitar from Ibanez!
@@discob61350looks more like a Harley Benton to me.
very cool
I want one soo bad
If i had the money id sure buy one and keep it for life
The first batch of 70 will be collectors items for sure, but at some point it would be nice to get a version for the masses and the average Waylon fan can get one too. Collectors will buy these and ya won't see them in bars making music like his original was born to do.
My thoughts exactly. Spot on Tj 👍🏼
The legacy of his father grows with this guitar, I hope it does well in the market.
Wow...❤
First time I saw that guitar and Waylon was on the Dukes of Hazzard being in the Uk and a young un at the time we didn’t really hear much of country music here .but I listen to it now we have things like UA-cam ❤
This is cool
Enjoy them, orthodontists.
An underrated guitarist; I'm not a fan of "signature" model guitars, really, but this one is quite cool.
Waylon's guitar is iconic. I had Cody make a cowhide covered tele for me. It has a similar vibe as Waylon's guitar, only in cowhide. I aged all the hardware on it. You can check it out on my channel.
The first person to break one on stage will be Wheeler Walker Jr. of course!🎸🤯🔫
If I had more money I would buy it but it would be a case queen. Too nice for me to abuse lol. Very cool craftsmanship!
25k!
Just a good ole boy never meaning no harm, But the harm is being done by the price 🎸
WOW!
Nice
Fancy ❤
That guitar was a mostly a country music icon for a few years. Until the adventures of two cousins on probation for bootleggin moonshine in an orange ‘69 Dodge Charger flyin through the TV aired on CBS Friday nights at 8:00 EST and Waylon was the narrator and performed the opening theme song! Then it became a global icon! 😀
About time.
When is Fender going to do a signature Ric Ocasek Pink Jazzmaster? I would buy one!
Get yourself a JM and have it redone in pink.
Shooter once said in the smokebox with b-real that he is not really much of a guitar player, I call bullshit because based on this video he's fuckin' great.
Cool idea - 🎸🎸 - RiP W.J
Well that's great!! Another limited edition that's sold out before anyone knows about it. Really Fender? BTW if you haven't checked out any of Shooters albums.....do it. He's F'ing awesome.
Twenty-five grand. Step right up.
If I'm not mistaken Keith Urban, owns one of The Originals and it was in the Nashville flood they said what saved it was the leather work around it Nicole Kidman bought it for a Christmas on like Christie's Auction
I'm new to the fender telecaster I was looking for one and I traded a fretless Japanese fender bass for a Brad Paisley signature which I have changed the pick guard on and then a few other things but it's so light in the neck got me that being said that's $1,000 guitar these Wayland's signature is great but then how much is it cost
Not a fan of his music but what a neat and crazy modded tele
Feel free to send me one and I'll try to figure out the Drop D gizmo.
The Telecaster story is fascinating... So Shooter and Family have 2 out of the original bunch of 5 main originals? So where are the others? Keith Urban owns one.... but the rest?
precio!?
All that, and nobody played a single Waylon lick in the whole video.
My guess Brad paisley will be the first in line ?😊
How much !?!
$25k?!?
They should have said what the list is on it.
❤️🎶🎸
How do we get this??
Have a band that loves you. 😎
Ok How much?
I’m a parts-caster guy for a reason……..And that reason is Cost!
All you need is a phase shifter
I wish they would make one without the "relic" treatment at a lower price.
I just don't get "relicing".
Is there a b bender on it
Waylon never used one.
I’ve seen the real one in action, Keith Urban has it, a Christmas present from his wife. It’s not actually a telecaster, the original is a broadcaster
Hook a feller up. 👀
Can i have one?
25K for people who don't play guitar. All the time spent building this guitar so it can remain unplayed in perpetuity.
The Chinese replica will be affordable.
Imagine having to live up to a legend being your dad...you will never live up to it...😊😅😂😢😮
No thanks, didn't even know about this Waylon guy until now 😂
