That was good camera work and excellent explanations. Thus was the second video i watched on this VVT replacement in an LS430 and this was the best 👍🏻 Next time show the part numbers & where you bought the parts and price would be extremely helpful
I have 255k on my ls430 still haven’t had these go out. Thanks for the video clear and simple. I just replaced my starter it was a pain in the butt under intake manifold
Glad to help! Yeah it was some others out there and I thought, "They didn't show this, or this" so I just made one of my own. Longer video than it needs to be, but I wanted to make sure everyone saw ALL the angles.
Generally, there's a little clip that you push or pull, just be very careful on this old plastic! I can't remember what it was but I definitely broke something in the video LOL.
I wouldn't touch it unless the lights come on. It doesn't immediately affect the way the car drives, but I wouldn't keep driving with it like that. Might cause a serious problem later down the line.
Chris Knows thank you bro I appreciate it, mine is starting to sound really bad while braking and I’ve already done brand new rotors brakes and still feel vibrate and loud noise while braking even acceleration
First step is to go to mylparts.com. All genuine Toyota/Lexus parts. From there, certain things you can get from rockauto.com. Some parts have to be genuine parts, others don't. Sensors and whatnot you should always go for the best/genuine when you can. They generally last the longest.
Hey what about the vvt filters? I am wanting to check the filter but I can’t figure out where the hell it is lol I’m scared to mess with the wrong bolt!
So this is my first time hearing about those! I went and looked it up and this is something I should probably change! It's easy enough to get to and they're cheap! I have no idea how it effects the car performance-wise but they're like $3 on rockauto. Anyway, if you go to 4:20 of the video. You see where I'm trying to wiggle the sensor out? There is a bolt to the left of it. It should be like a 14mm bolt. You unscrew that and get some needle nose pliers and the filter is in there. It should be a hole in the bolt once you take it out and the tip of the filter sits in that. Hope this helps and thanks for that tip!
ua-cam.com/video/YXXahRWalU0/v-deo.html That video might help you, but I think you may have damaged or unplugged something after changing the spark plugs and didn't plug it back up. Likely the camshaft oil control valve. Sounds like something very small, but may be tedious to find. If everything is all plugged up, were the spark plugs gapped correctly? Hope this helps!
@@ToolDeals thank you brotha ..I am taking out the whole driver side air hose and camshaft connectors right now trying to figure out what might have gone wrong
@@joem5009 They shouldn't charge you more than an hour. The video I made was pretty much unedited. I only stopped the camera when I was struggling to get the driver's side around the wire harness. But the whole thing took me less than an hour. Most good mechanics will look in their manual though and give you a price according to how long the manual says it will take. But it's definitely something you could wait in the lobby to get done.
Did you get it scanned before you changed it and get the codes? It's a number of reasons these lights can come on. Some are as simple as a gas cap but you have to pull the codes first.

I thought about that after I posted it! But I'll add it to the description now. Thanks for your comment!

Which is bank 2??? Passenger side or the one on drivers side???
How do you undo the electrical clips?

Thank for the video. I have never did this on my lexus ls430 2001. It has 325,000 miles.
I wouldn't touch it unless the lights come on. It doesn't immediately affect the way the car drives, but I wouldn't keep driving with it like that. Might cause a serious problem later down the line.
Thanks man. Helped me alot!!
Glad it helped!
Haven’t had to do this on my ls430 at 611,000 miles

Do you know where is located the temperature sensor for the same car
When do you know when to change or symptoms before it happens
It just suddenly comes upon you. I was just driving along and boom, the lights came on. Car still drove fine though

Is there any specific website to get parts for the Lexus LS 430, parts are become extremely hard to find!!

What scan tool do you use please?
This one: amzn.to/3tjWWRF cost me like, $20. I did a review on it years ago: ua-cam.com/video/45pLjXdkR1g/v-deo.html
Thank you! 👍
“well that broke” said the exact thing doing this on my gs430 LMFAO
That darn plastic! It still ran fan though lol.
had anyone found a video on how to change a cam position sensor on a 2001 ls430? haven’t found kne
Wow great video
Thanks!
Sometimes the check engine light comes on when engine reaches operating temperature
good video! whats with the hood? so gangsta......
LOL, it was cold.
Highlights: "Sheesh" about removing that fussy Air Intake Resonator (mine is too) and "Well, that broke"!
I have a 2004 ls430...do u have oem part # for VVT filters?
The part I got is in the description. If you want OEM search on www.mylparts.com
But it would nicer, if you could show us the parts how the boxes really look like and give us the parts numbers.
All that info is in the description.
what brand did you use for the part?
Good question! I got Beck/Arnley and they've been holding up good. Had them in for almost a year now. No problems!
@@ToolDeals thanks also how long does it take to install both of them? How much is fair price for labor so I know my mechanic is charging good

@ToolDeals, do you happen to know what Bank 2 is?? And what VVT/Camshaft position sensor Bank 2 means by any chance?
"well that broke"..I'm still laughing...
LOL. Fortunately it hasn't made a difference in anything!
Just changed mine and lights still on

@@danyalhassan1294 A simple bad gas cap seal causes the infamous Check VSC light on Lexus.
This is not vvti sensor, this is the vvti selenoid
