  • From time to time we let the vessel inside our heads fill up and overspill, and that's what's happened to me the past few months.
Now its time for me to take some accountability and start the rebuild for a stronger mental and physical health.
Thanks for being part of my journey.

Pontsticill is my local run! I'm also doing Ridum this year - looking forward to it. Might bump into you. I know it sounds cheesy but be kind to yourself (I have been there)...
Respect for being vulnerable here. You never know who this will help. 🙏🏻

Well done Al. Super miles & beautiful scenery - perfect.
Sorry you’ve been struggling. Difficult times for so many right now.
Running provides the perfect escape - something really positive to focus on.
Setting a goal race and making it public is a great idea. I wish you all the best with your training.

Ran my first ultra because of this channel. I was training for my first marathon but seen a video in which you ran an ultra and said, “trained for an ultra so we’re gonna do an ultra”. Those words stuck in my head lol I completed a solo 50k instead of competing in the marathon I had originally signed up for. Unprepared was an understatement haha
I ran my original marathon the year after.. signed up for a few races to keep my head in it but the dates came and went.. haven’t ran in about a year.
Just wanted to say thanks for the videos, they’ve inspired me to get my fat arse back out the door and back to the runner I am haha

Thank you for the kind words, I’ve been out of action due to a knee operation but all good now, I think this post has inspired me to get out there again. Thank you

Thanks for putting this video out Al. It’s very brave, I think a lot of people are feeling in a similar way, but won’t admit it either to themselves or to anyone else. I know I have struggled with my mental health for a few years and it’s nice to know we’re not on our own in our feelings and emotions - even though it can seem very lonely when I’m stuck in my own head, so to speak. I love running too and it has helped me so much for my mental and physical health the benefits are undeniable, however it’s still sometimes very very hard just to get out the door. But I’ve never regretted a run ever. Sometimes wish I’d have gone faster, or slower 🤣 but even when I’ve come home injured or frozen to the bone I still didn’t regret the run, just maybe on occasion what I did on that run.
I hope it helps now you have signed up for the Ultra and it gives you something positive to get your mind around. I’ve just committed to one for next year.
Good luck mate and I hope you’ll bring us along for your journey as I really enjoy your videos 👍

Thanks mate, reading this message has really given me a lift 👍
I am going to hatch a plan, starting small and build for the race.
I had bloods back yesterday which has also kicked my arse into gear ⚙️ nothing serious but could be if left unattended, so healthier eating, resistance training, running with a bit of hot and cold therapy thrown in for good measure.
Thanks for being part of the journey 😎
