      Kimi Chaddah please could you explain this. I’m soon going into my second year of A Levels and even though I’m bright and did well at GCSE, I knows I’ve fluffed up one of my AS’s (History) and barely revised for the other two because I started too late. This isn’t my usual work ethic and I’m dreading that if I get crappy AS results, they’ll make a big difference as to what unis think of me. Anyone have any advice?

    My results this year did not go to plan whatsoever, but I contacted my firm choice and I still managed to secure a place on the course I wanted! Incredibly lucky but defo something you should do before panicking :))

    I got 3As at A Level, but missed my firm offer by 2 full grades (A*A*A) and insurance by 1 grade (A*AA). I was devastated to not get into my firm but hated my insurance. I was only one UMS mark off an A* in two of my As but I decided to not go through re-marks and just go through clearing. Looking back I am honestly so happy I did it this way. People I know who go to my 'dream' firm choice hate it for the course I wanted and I can't imagine being happier than I am in my Clearing choice (going into my fifth year)

      Ala Ibrahim Thank you! I was really happy with it, but with my offers both containing A*s and considering I had 12 A*s at GCSE, there was a lot of pressure on me from Unis, school and family to get A*s (seems pointless now) 😂

      Samar Zai hello! I definitely believe that A Levels are extremely challenging, and they were a full time commitment for me. I put in my heart and soul these past two years (literally doing university level reading, all nighters, etc) However, I don't want to discourage you. Doing A Levels internationally is a struggle (emotionally, literally and financially), but it is a valued qualification worldwide, so you definitely reap what you sow. Wishing you the best in regards to what you decide to do, and ultimately, I advise you to go with your instincts and do what you believe is the best thing for you

    I got my Higher results (Scottish equivalent of A-Levels) and I completely bombed them. I got CDDF. I had a conditional for uni in which I needed AABB. I knew I didn’t do the best but I didn’t think I would fail THREE of them.
    I will not be going to uni this year. Instead I’ll be working part time, and going to night school to get the grades I need to get into uni next year.

    hi eve! I don’t know if you’ll end up reading this tonight (or ever) but if you do I just wanted to say all the best for tomorrow, for some reason good luck’s always seem to make results more intimidating or put more pressure on me so this isn’t a good luck but more a message to say you should be so proud of yourself for all the work you put into your exams because it’s helped you and so many people including myself and you really are an inspiration for us all. No matter what happens tomorrow you have worked insanely hard for this and something incredible will come of that even if it’s not immediately apparent. You will be amazing!! sending you lots of love for tomorrow & don’t be too hard on yourself I promise, promise, promise that everything will turn out okay in the end and all that work you put in will make you shine❤️❤️ xxxxx

    The one thing I’d say is, if you decide not to go to your firm or your insurance, find a place at another University BEFORE you get released into clearing! This is because if you release yourself and can’t find a place elsewhere, you will have no where to go as not all Uni’s will accept you back once you release yourself! I currently work in admissions at a University during clearing so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

    I really want to do veterinary medicine (never got ucas offers for this course, so am entering clearing); but there might not even be a place available in clearing. (imo) It's so competitive because the majority of people applying want to become vets and so have really strong applications. But my reason for applying was just really wanting to study it - I can't imagine being a stereotypical vet my whole life, but can imagine further study, working in industry/research and loving it. But, all of the courses are tailored towards getting experience in vet practices, working with clients and their pets ect. - from the very start this is the main focus of the degree for the few unis that offer it. I really feel that that's why I never got any offers to study it, as I was truthful in my interviews and clearly wasn't passionate about the specific career - they kept going on about how they wanted to produce the best vets and there was little discussion of other available careers stemming from the degree. And the course is five years! I can't possibly know how i'm going to feel about what career I want after that time - and can't possibly predict it without having a real taste of studying the degree. I still want to do this course, but I can't imagine performing much better at the interview stage should I apply for next years entry. I got interviews at all four unis (so had the work experience and good personal statement) and passed their scenario-based online tests at all four (only about a fifth of applicants to each vet course get offered interviews) - it was just when they met me (for a twenty minute interview in a couple and in a multiple-mini interview set-up for the other two) they decided I wasn't the ideal vet student. So frustrating! I don't know what options I really have, other than reapplying next year and essentially lying at the interview and pretending to want to become the next Super Vet :/

    Anyone who decides they want to change unis even when you have a confirmed place LISTEN HERE.. When you ring up your confirmed place to asked to be released, make sure they send you an email. I was ‘released’ from my confirmed place and rang up my desired Uni to ask if they had any places left.. luckily they did. However, I was still receiving emails from my released place saying ‘congratulations’ and then a shady email saying I wasn’t allowed to be released and then had 2 missed calls from that uni. I rang them back to discover the woman who I had asked to be released didn’t process my request and all of a sudden I had two confirmed uni places.. the man who I spoke to apologised and released me immediately. Clearing is not scary and there is no need to worry about it, as Eve said there are thousands of places left and it usually isn’t a race. Don’t panic, stay calm and always reassess your options before results day. They’re dealing with a lot of people so make sure you’re adamant and clear about the decisions you make!

    I need advice!
    So I started my GCSEs in year 9 and chose triple science, history and computer science which I thought (if I put in the effort) could be fairly easy, I thought wrong😬
    I moved school in the April this year and at this point I was in year 10. I found the transition really hard trying to catch up as I had missed a month of school due to this. I couldn’t catch up with the work as:
    ~in history my previous school studied different topics so I had year 11 and the three months of year 10 to do this
    ~I’m awful at computer science and triple science was awful😫
    ~on top of this I had to learn the work I had missed and have to read Macbeth for English!
    I struggled massively with my work and in the end I dropped triple science to food tech, which I think is easy, or I’m hoping. So I have year 11 now to learn food tech, I need to learn the whole of computer science because I cannot do that to save my life and lean the whole history course as well as reading Macbeth for English.
    I really do not how I’m going to cope with the revision and need advice on how to learn 3 courses in a year when I should have 3 years each to learn🤨
    As well as revision at home my dad works in my school so I have two extra hours a day in school with my teachers to help.
    So can everyone leave advice on how to revise and how to cope with the stress?
    Thank you!

    I just started my a levels. I am taking maths, bio, phy and chem. It's been a week and I have def noticed that it takes more work and that it it so much more interesting. I haven't felt the big jump yet cause I just started but hopefully I will be able to deal with it well. You are one of my big inspirations to motivate myself to get good grades and challenge myself. Cause if u can do it, why can't I? Love u lots eve and I am patiently anticipating my IGCSE results 😛

    this was a really helpful video so thank you, my college literally gave no instructions for us of what to do if we dont get into uni so videos like this are greatly appreciated and we get our results online so we dont even go into college to get them which is even more terrifying because it;s kind of all been left to us to do

    Eve, my little sister just got her National 5 exam results on Tuesday (GCSE equivalent). I am aware that of course these aren’t as important as the exams she will now sit this academic year coming, but as a person who really cares about school and exams (which I’m sure you can relate to) these exams did matter a lot to her. She received the results to see she got 6 As (we don’t get A*s so lots of these were actually of that level of grade) and a B. The B, however, was in History her favourite and best subject. After that exam she felt very confident, the most confident out of her all her exams she sat, all year she had scored in the 90%s, only losing one mark in the last mock exam they did, but for some reason this time in the exam she’s lost around 40 marks? As someone who knows my sister inside out, I am so confused and belief that surely this is wrong. She knew the course inside out, represented her school abroad on a history trip due to her passion and talent in the subject, but now is left heartbroken by this. I’ve never seen her affected by something as much as this has broken her. I really think there’s a possibility that a whole section of her paper hasn’t been graded or included in her final mark, but unfortunately in Scottish schools they can be very harsh about who they allow to go forward for a remark. I’m hoping and praying every moment of every day that she gets it remarked. Many of her friends are celebrating getting straight As and will go back to school to be rewarded for this and she just has to see all this happening around her :( any words of advice I could pass on to her would be really appreciated x

      Catriona Campbell just remind her to look to the future. One B grade is not going to affect her long term at all. Tell her that in a few years she’ll hopefully be doing something she loves and this grade won’t affect that. I hope she manages to get a remark but if not a B is still amazing :)

    • @catrionacampbell383
      @catrionacampbell383 6 років тому +1

      hLyrics Yes, I know and she knows that thankfully it won’t affect much. Every day I’m telling her that everything will work out and that really this is something that won’t matter at all to her one day, but at the moment her pride has been hurt so badly. She doesn’t even want to go back to school. It all seems so dramatic, but I was hoping that someone like Eve (who I see A LOT of me and my sister in her personality, I’m now even a Language student at uni like Eve will be soon😂) could sympathise for her because at the moment there has been a dreadful lack of communication from the school to support her...

    • @elizabethbircham5595
      @elizabethbircham5595 6 років тому

      Unfortunately because history is a much more subjective subject than maths and sciences, apparently statistically your grade can differ by two grades either way depending on which examiner marks it. It could be worth a remark but you would be taking the same risk again, as in it could go down further (although by what you are saying this sounds unlikely). I’m sure things will work out for her whatever as she sounds very bright xx

      Matt Leonard I am doing biology chemistry and classical civilisation , I know they are a weird mix but I love all three subjects to bits and I think having a diverse subject like classics can open up more fields in the future , are you also doing A Levels ?

    What I would also say is that some universities might work slightly differently in terms of what they call their course so do your research beforehand. For example, Lancaster University might appear to only offer German but they have a flexible degree programme where you could add Spanish once you get there. Just something to keep in mind xx

    My school shut down right after I graduated so I don't know what to do and where to get my individual grades so I'm not sure where to get my results with the stamp on them. I don't live in the UK or in the EU so I have no idea what to do. I emailed our vice principal, who is responsible for holding our physical results and I haven't received any word from her and I have no way of contacting her other than her school email and I have no idea if I should head over to the British Council to get it because of the chance that it's not there. What should I do in this case? BTW I got EEC in my A levels and my fam ain't that happy about that, including me.

    I emailed a university, well known about swapping courses and asked when I could, they said all the way through results day and clearing, I'd be able to swap if I emailed them. I went to email them and they said I couldn't anymore with no explanation. I then realised they had my results by now... Oh no :(
