First UK install I've seen of this system, I saw them when living state side but normally water heaters not combi's. Looks like a good product for a niche situation where a conversion no longer has room for tanks etc.
Nice. Problem is people will just fit that boiler as a replacement that can run 3 showers and it won’t as it’ll be on 15mm hot and colds then it’ll get a bad name. Wouldn’t it work out more efficient to just have an unvented. Never quite get 50kw combos. Should have space for a cylinder if you’ve a house that needs 50kw
Hi mate. The boiler is designed to run at 22LPM off 15mm so will be fine. The main thing to consider is pipe sizing on the gas carcass. The boiler does not run at 50kw for heating 👍🏻. It's apparently 40 percent more efficient than heating a cylinder. Thanks 👍🏻
Really enjoyed the video, love to see more pro press work, your channel is probably Best plumbing channel on UA-cam, I was a plumber gas engineer for about 20 years back in London now retired to Spain
a neighbour had one of these installed a couple of years ago in the us, over hear they are known as the ncb-h they are a bit different compared to your typical uk models, and need to descale the condenser every year, so you must fit the supplied a couple of T on flow and return for easy pipe connection but they are a bit awkward to fit to so you may want to add your own drain off them, down sides, circuit boards have had a issue in some, his was affected as well, but since the swap its been trouble free, its only 22litres at 50c rise, but its a monster of a boiler, the 15 to1 ratio still means its modulated down to 3.5kw , to be fair its the closest thing your going to see a burner style like this is like the old combi pre condensing years, it weighs the same too, I believe the model shown is the 54kw model 22000 btu. they do a 45kw model also , if you run on LPG -(blue flame to us) it has its own model definition, it burns a little more gas as well typical of lpg by about 2kw
Going to fit ncb 500 or 300 only need 2 shower + tap. Fitting in 600 x 900 x 300 wall cabinet. Do you know how far the service valves stick out the bottom. Need to fit into a 900mm high wall cabinet and dont want vavles sticking out the bottom. Have 150mm above cabinet for flew ect....i know i need to leave 250mm but can leave room in the ceiling above for this. Cant find total from top of flue to bottom of valves in the mi's? Any help would be appriciated, the rep still hasnt called me back, will try him again monday. Have total hight of 1050mm to fit it in neatly into wall cabinet.
Why did you put all of the water piping above the Navien? Won't you burn out electronics or rust the non-SS metal components if there is a slow leak or break?
How many Navien boilers have you installed? i’ve used Ideal for the past 10 years but they are now pricing themselves out of the market. I’m about to fit my first navien on a new build. what are their call out times if there is a fault. lovely neat job by the way.
Thank you. We've fitted a few. Customer service has been brilliant. I'm also an ideal man but again, it's hard to warrant the price these days. I'd say Navien are the best bang for buck at the moment .
i fit around 30/40 navien per year and they give me a spares package so i can offer fast repairs to customers and they pay me for warranty call outs as a service agent.
What’s the turn down ratio of this boiler? What is the minimum kWh output? I would fear a boiler this large would be massively oversized even for a home of this size for heating.
I just installed Navien NCB 700 42kw but central not on .can you please tel me how to on central heating / on display central heating show off . How to trun on .please help me. Thanks
Have you watched mikey pipes on UA-cam. American plumber who shows the problems with navien. E.g. main heat exchanger leaks POC straight out of the box.
Yeah I know what you mean, but he mentioned in the video that it has the new gen heat exchanger so hopefully sorted that problem out. Grate video again boys
Same! Lots of problems with them Stateside where Navien have been about for some time . Dury is out on this one for me: I won't be fitting any unless customer asks for one, will be giving it a few years to see how they go even then...............
Nice install, hoewer I am not fan of Navien, seen them when lived and worked in US, also seen recently a lot of Navien in US has had leak issue, poor plastic parts etc.. I hope UK market will be better.. Will see..
Thanks for the feedback. I honestly have never had an issue and my experience with Navien in the past and future has been great. I have seen some videos from the US too but they are different to what we have in the UK. Thanks 👍🏻
Hi Mikey . We definitely have strict rules and regulations over here in the UK. I think maybe some issues you guys had over in the US has been rectified for the UK version. The main difference I see is the way the boilers are flued, which I guess changed the internal design somewhat. Thanks for the comment . Keep up the good work 👍👍
@@loving-plumbing Thanks! if we had 1 shower on and someone ran the kitchen tap. Would there be any issues with the thermostatic shower going cold or losing pressure?
@@loving-plumbing if you love design principles and the best tech to provide the most efficiency, I would recommend you try their products as you have a great understanding and appreciation for heating design principles. Great work and videos.
Why buy a condensing combi with all the benefits of cost cutting, to fit a secondary loop system which is proven waste of money, people often complain saing am wasting gallons of water before I get hw ? 1. you are not wasting water, there is still the same amount of water on this planet as there was on the day of creation(fact, check it out) 2. water being on a meter or rates costs less than 1/1000 times less than wasting gas; ie run your tap for 30 seconds of cold water to get hot water at 10ltrs/min costs you 0.001p if you use a pre heated gas boiler you get hot water after 10 seconds using 0.01p of water but you have pre burnt 10p of gas, water will never run out but gas will
You need to watch Mikeypipes out in the usa these things are junk (NAVIEN) After you watch MP you won't fit these any more. The Navien is the Essex girl of the boiler world, Looks mighty fine but deep down it/she has massive floors.
Thanks for the feedback. I have seen some bits but it's a totally different model with a different heat exchanger under different circumstances. My experience with Navien has always been great. Plus the warranty and support is great.

Aha 15 to 1
That's right. The heating runs at a lower output than the hot water. It only uses what is required.
54kW divide by 15 = 3.6kW. Which is impressive for such a large combi.

@@SKumar-gg4tx the pressure will drop usually when other outlets are opened but temperature controll shouldn't be an issue
