This is a very important distinction. Plato was the first writer that got me to think in purely abstract terms. It was terrifying at first and then enriching. I used “Phaedo” in my doctoral paper on aesthetics. But Christianity’s hope is much more dramatic and “outrageous” because we believe in the resurrection of body and soul integrated and one.

Physics itself is not yet correctly understood. We don't know what consciousness is in relation to objects. We don't have a theory of consciousness.
Scripture and other religious traditions as well makes some startling claims about eschatological events that will heal and set people free not only in the day of salvation but throughout all generations. The gods - broken aspects of consciousness that interdimensionally interact with various circles objective material being - will be reconciled with one another and the laws of decay will be reversed. "All creation longs with eager anticipation for the revelation of the sons of God" (Romans 8:19).
Does the total global quality of our relationships with one another - how we X love God and each other - affect how DNA replicates and how the shortening of telomeres impact the way we grow old and eventually die?
Because that's just one of the sort of startling changes that would need to practically take place for the resurrection of the body to be more than a religious formula. Physics itself would need to change profoundly.
And maybe you think physics is immutable. It's quite possible that this very thought - which is based on experience and assumption, not reason - is an obstacle to the very change that would need to take place. Is "Physics" the god that you believe determines the essence and outcomes of reality?

Christ's risen body is the first example of that. The details are left for our own speculations, as Paul seems to tell us.
Worship is natural to humanity so that's a given. We worship in a quite different sense than the angels and the animals do.
Some hints about it are given in the Resurrection appearances. Jesus seemingly appearing inside houses out of nowhere, looking as healthy as ever, and yet looking so much better that the Apostles often took a second to realize it was the man they spent every day with for years.
Another hint is that Jesus tends to start off with a "Do not be afraid"
Jesus didn't say that during his ministry. Except by implication in the Transfiguration.
That's a phrase that Angels and God do when appearing to someone. It's a "numinous" fear, the experience held when meeting with the supernatural or the presence of extreme holiness.
Can't tell you more than that. The Church Fathers have gone on and on forever about what could be.
May God bless us all with life everlasting. Amen.

Genesis 18:1 says clearly that it was “the LORD” (Yahweh) who appeared to Abraham. It is the LORD who speaks in verses 13, 20, 26, and 33. Abraham stands “before the LORD” in verse 22. So at least one of the three “men” must have been God Almighty.

These men became personal witness to the resurrected LORD. In this instance, the Lord Jesus Christ showed them that he was physical. And while they were mystified and wondered. Jesus said more.
Luke 24:41"...Have ye any meat?" Luke 24:43 "And (Jesus) took, and did eat before them."

    • @JakeDanczyk

@@johnnastrom9400 The Catholic church is officially agnostic to the questions of evolution and the age of the Earth. Most Catholic schools teach evolution.
Two other things about the Bible I hope might spur your curiosity.
Much of God's word is in the form of parables, not literal history. Christ tells us so in Matthew 13:13 and Mark 4:33.
The Bible is not a message just for today. It is a message that needed to be understandable to Bronze and Iron age humans, so that they could believe and deliver it to us in modern times.
(And if you are going to ask "why do we have to do anything if God is all powerful", I would say that one of the purposes of mortal life is for us to learn the nature of good and evil. God magically fixing all of our problems would prevent us from learning and growing. And yes its all just and fair because the innocent, the downtrodden and the broken shall receive eternal healing and love in heaven (because through their Earthly suffering they helped fulfill God's purpose of teaching the nature of Good and Evil).)

At death, the soul, body and spirit are separated. This is the sting of death. For the spirit without the body could never receive the fullness of joy.
Jesus Christ broke the bands of death with his Resurrection and Atonement making it possible to return and live in God's presence, and to receive a fullness of joy.

    • @johnnastrom9400
      @johnnastrom9400 Рік тому
