10 Years Of Building A Minecraft City : The History Of Whiteburg City
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 чер 2024
- With the passing of 2021 I felt it was time to close out a chapter of my life. In this video I will be showing you the last 10 years of my life, well in relation to Minecraft that is. Please join me as I take you around every world I have ever called "Whiteburg City" and showcase anything and everything I feel is notable.
The video starts off in 2011/2012 when the game was still in the beta stages. It then follows me through my years at Uni right up to the present day and our current Minecraft city project of Whiteburg (be sure to check out the videos on my channel documenting the growth of this).
I have ended the video with a conclusion that sums up my thoughts on the past 10 years and a look to the future of this idea, the idea of Whiteburg City.

Well guys, hope you enjoyed seeing back across the last 10 years of my Minecraft worlds, the question is, do you still have your first ever Minecraft world?
Sadly I just lose interest and end up deleting them.
i do and most of the builds there are just copies of other builds on UA-cam
at the end of that world I discovered your server and I got inspired heavily.
No but I remember what I had
I have all of my worlds, but I only started teaching myself Minecraft during the COVID lockdowns...and I'm hooked!
No unfortunately my old phone had something happen to it and all my old worlds disappeared
Crazy how much your building style as changed and improved
its Fake
@@klodjan2189 how?
@@klodjan2189 no it's not
I can already tell from watching the first 2 seconds it’s changed massively haha, from modern skyscrapers to Victorian townhouses!
Humble beginnings! It is amazing to see the nostalgia in looking back in time with Minecraft builds. Amazing video!
Thank you Lanz! It's great to have you along for the ride now
I really enjoy the aesthetics of the present day whiteburg, but also love the more industrial style of some parts of walhampton
Well more of that to come, in both locations
This was a fascinating look back, both at Minecraft history, and at your own development as a creative builder. I'm just blown away by your vision and by what you managed to create with such a limited range of blocks!
I was a builder on the Keralis server ( was not the best but did my best effort to make some good designs ) between 2014ish- 2018 and it was a good experience. Seeing lots of awesome traditional, Victorian, and city skyscrapers made me feel great to be in part of that era. I do not play mc anymore and going into harder games like rust and first person shooter but mc will be part of my life as a decade of creativity.
The nostalgia must have hit you harder than a train
Indeed it did. I hadn't walked around most of these maps for 5+ years
That phase you talked about I am still in it I copied your Second Empire Building Block to Block
As i say in the video, we all have to go through that stage
I feel like I am in version 1 phase 3
I used to think there was 3 whiteburgs (plus the interlude) I didn't know version 1, version 3, version 4, and version 5 existed 😅
Very interesting insights that not only penetrate into the history of Whiteburg City but also into your entire Minecraft story/career from which I could recognise many similar things in my Minecraft story. It is always good to immerse yourself in the nostalgia of the old and first Minecraft worlds and the comparison of how you used to see it and how you see it with today's eyes is always very interesting! I really enjoyed the tour through the different phases of Whiteburg City you showed in this video 👍. I can also remember my first world, to which unfortunately I no longer have access today.... The first building I built shortly after I entered the world was a hotel built of clay and glass. Even from the first video of you what I saw "Let's build a City #6 Town Hall" until today you can still observe a great evolution in Minecraft building. Great Video and showcase of your Minecraft History
Thank you TS! You’ve captured everything that this video was trying to convey in this comment
Amazing stuff! What a massive achievement. You looked at Keralis work the way I look at your content today!
Thanks a lot!
This was fantastic! The recap at the end with the chronological compilation of each version really worked well with the music. It reminded me of my own various worlds and different periods in my own creativity. It made me feel nostalgic (even somewhat sad?) about your builds, most of which I didn’t even know about until now! Strange feeling indeed. I hope you can continue on your building journey and fully flesh out your plans!
I have to appreciate the reminder that, even though I have had around four to five years and maybe even seven into my own project, progress had came to a dead halt again. The release of this video brought it back to fruition with the reminder that its going to be another ten to twenty years too, and the results are indisposable however long it takes. Thank you for that.
this is the fist video of yours i've seen and frankly, this is the most minecraft thing ive seen. this capture the essence of what i think of minecraft was originally made for. awesome builds made by a large group of friends. its truly amazed me.
I've never heard about you before, but this is amazing! You've really left some legacy to this player base. Thank you for your effort mate!
I actually watched this whole thing in awe. Absolutely monumental journey! Great work dude
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can't tell you how much I love your videos! I just started playing MC recently, and I'd love to understand how you plan out your cities, just incredible, so talented, truly
55:53 Very strange indeed!
This was awesome; watched the whole thing lol. I've only been watching your channel for a few weeks now and to see years worth of work already is absolutely amazing. I would always start projects in mc, build a little, then slowly forget about them. I'm amazed at you and all the builders' dedication and creative ability, the fact you've kept at it for so long is really cool. I've been building in mc for a long time but I'm just now getting into these architectural styles like on Whiteburg. Maybe someday I'll get my skills and motivation up enough to build on the server myself lol. Keep it up 👍
Really enjoyed this! Seemed like I was following your growth through your builds.
Awesome, thank you!
I love this so much, as someone who also build a city since 2014 and i’m still playing on the same world and continuing my city project. Wish you the best of luck 🙌🏻
Glad you enjoy it!
thanks for the affirmation of growth, your channel has helped me grow not only as a builder but also as a person cheers lad
Really insightful video! Great to see how you have progressed and how your dream has come to fruition. Whiteburg is truly something beautiful!
This is an amazing city! It has improved and changed so much! I look forward to what you have planned next.
If 7 is the “City of Domes” then 1 could be the “City of Stones” cause of the material used.
True
It’s absolutely marvellous to see the process of Whiteburg city over the past 10 years! Your channel and all the great builders have been an enormous motivation and inspiration for me. And to become a better builder, and learn all kinds of new techniques. And it’s working! Thank you so much!
Thank you very much!
The sheer progress you've made is a greatest encouragement for me :)
absolutely amazing video. watched every second without getting bored, so incredibly interesting and inspiring! keep it up!
It's actually quite inspiring seeing all of this and knowing that my averageness at building will improve over time, quite like how your skill at building already has.
Congrats man! For real, a huge achievement and wonderful piece of art you created
it seems im between the almost at the 'take real buildings as inspiration' phase, burned though the copying phase as im more of a second generation player, you came from woods and stones to mega cities, and what makes you unique is that you built in a style that most well known builders dont do, my city is basically at version 5, a mix of several styles from modern to medieval and all around been building for 2+ years and your a big inspiration for my builds, hope you get 40k! your soo close!
didnt expect this to be as inspiring as it was! Cant wait to see where it goes in the future :)
Thank you for watching
Incredible ... here's to another 10 years. All the best.
It's incredible how much your first map ressembles mine o.O
I started playing at around the same year as you apparently (and approximately the same age I guess), and there is just so much in common : The simple style, the anarchic chests with random things and cheated items, the obligatory sofa, signs with dates (signs for a lot of things really), tunnels, R A I L S, unfinished projects, weird unexplicable stuff, constructions and redstone contraptions... I have to say these first maps had a certain "soul" to them, that I never quite managed to replicate in the other world I built, and I feel just the same watching this first part of your video :-)
Love to see the immense amount of progress you made since I joined back in the day. I'm glad I spent so many hours making abominations to architecture in Del Aire, wouldn't be the same without it hah. Every now and then I think about the server, I'm just happy you stuck it out, now you've got crazy good looking cities.
-Sir 5
I can’t say I expected to see you here in the comments today! It has brought a tear my eye, we had such a laugh on here back in the day and it wouldn’t have been the same without you. Thanks for watching and I hope you are keeping well
@@WBCBuilds for sure, life's been a rollercoaster but I wouldn't change it. My building style's still complete trash but I'm glad we all had those years together. Might hop on again someday but I surely won't be building to a high caliber hah
Well it would be great to see you about the place again. come join our discord, link is in the description, and see what the community is like these days
had a re-watch and it is still lovely to see how old Whiteburg is
What an awesome story, it's always satisfying and heartwarming to hear something like this come to realization
I just started building a proper city in survival Minecraft. I appreciate the open and true showcase of your own builds.
So cool you have a build with a long history over a whole decade, good video!
Glad you liked it!
Ooo! Exciting can't wait to watch this now!
I'm more amazed, that he kept all this saves from the past, rather than by the scale of maps and some good looking builds. I don't even have my MC worlds from year back, let alone the first ones. I miss them.
This was awesome, never noticed it was 1h long until it was finished
I saw your publication on twitter and you got a new sub with those buildings.
That zombie jump scared me as well lmao
..And really interesting video!
What an adventure! Great Video!
I’m speechless. What a journey that was... I wish to ever achieve such level in any skill. You are a true master - along with the entire team. Looking forward to seeing your progress in next years :)
Thank you so much 😀
@@WBCBuilds Thank you so much for such a great content!
Interesting to see how your project has developed over time. the modern iteration looks very good, one day you will rival the old Imperial City.
I also build my map for 10 years, and I always want to see other 10 year builds for idea
I like yours, I built 95% of the map by myself, so I know it take a long time to achieve this.
Hello WBC Builds I am inspired by your work I am making a city right now and you inspired me to keep on going.I wanted to say thank you so much.have a great day!
this is gonna be fun !
Whenever i want to build something i just come to your channel for inspiration
Just wanted to say this is epic and your personality is perfect ❤️❤️❤️
great video mate! really enjoyed this
Glad you enjoyed
awesome work!
Well... I thought I joined the WB team much later than I actually did...
A great trip down memory lane though, with some reminders to things I completely forgot about!
Happy new year to you and the team, and all the best with the server!
-Derp
Thank you for your service to the worlds Lord Derpington, hope you are keeping well
Would be really cool to see your first Whiteburg rendition transformed with you modern style and new blocks!
I mean, that's sort of what we are doing still to this day. Still building that original Whiteburg City
I’ve always had a fascination with the 13 english colonies and this whole video just reminds me sweetly of it, the evolution of buildings and how the world changes
dude that is awesome
As a fellow long term minecraft city builder i respect the grind
Big up Lymo ! ! !
Shame you didn't build the spoons tho :(
This is crazy how it all started from a small town
impresive
This video inspired me to build my own city
I'm making a city in survival minecraft, but I don't know what name to give it
i fell in love with your city 😍
This was truly amazing to whatch.
I am from Russia, but I understood all what you said🎉 I really like your architecture style❤❤❤ I want to build my own city too😊
awesome work
Thanks for the visit
legit had to look up whiteburg city, and my god your version looks at least 10x better than the irl one
I don’t think it’s a real place
I started my City in 2011 as well, and still working on it today!
Your buildings are nice.
That's why I got inspiraation from you
Thank you so much 😀
For a 2014 world it's surprisingly good. I've never seen a build so good back on 2014
You are the best UA-camr in the world
This inspired me alots in building and historized minecraft building
This brings back memories of my own world that also started as a survival world 10 years ago and now a creative city world that I still play. What did you use to get the overview map of the worlds? I’d love to compare all my backup saves from over the years like that.
I used the dynmap plug-in
Reminds me much of my first world. I am so glad I never deleted it
Can you point me at ways to get my proportions/scale right? I love what you do, it's incredible
man i cant wait
west quey that sounds cool i lived in key west for ten years, reminded me of it
Awesome thanks for sharing this
Thanks for watching!
@@WBCBuilds awesome u replied
epic video
Love this
SUPERPERFEKT
this video was great, it made me think how once i have more time ill properly be able to get into building and also reminds me of how god awful some of my builds used to be i should have a look at them.
That’s what I felt about a lot of this haha especially the buildings in Version 1 phase 3 🙈
this is so impressive
Glad to know I'm not the only one with a corporate entity as my persona.
One of my friends has a minecraft server where we roleplay either as leaders of countries or citizens in other player’s countries. And everyone builds at least one city in his country as a country has a capital so i am building a city in my country too!
I wish I still had my oldest minecraft saves. It was around early or middle 2010 when I started
I really love Ur videos and I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on the house U made in walhampton made out of brick walls.
Sincerely, ur biggest fan
To all people who say "I don't know how to build" just practice and with work and time you would be better
Whiteburg VII
"City of Domes"
Whiteburg I
"City of Stones"
I am horrible
I personally never had that basic building stage because I started playing in 2013 and had already been watching building UA-camrs like Grian. I’m kinda sad that I never cause it would be cool to upgrade a world like that.
I think this is the most beautiful world in the history of minecraft
Oh, it's a movie! 😮
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
It's an 1 hour video you deserve a sub I'm a new subscriber
I'm planning to build my own city, or cities, on a long timeline. Interested to see other people's builds and ideas. And to learn from their mistakes!
What mistakes can you learn from me here then?
@@WBCBuilds Well, you don't really frame it as a "mistake", but it's something I am learning from. I can't help but wonder how far the city would be if things weren't started over in the early iterations. It's inspiring me to plan *thoroughly* so that I have a cohesive vision of what I want the city to be, so I'm less likely to scrap what I'm doing. I want, in 10 years, to be able to walk from one place in the city all the way back to where the city was started. I'm also unfamiliar with your channel or build style, but you mention using worldedit, worldpainter, and cheating blocks in when you were starting out. I intend to build my city in survival, so I know I'll need to really focus on farming blocks. I need to figure out if I'm going to be willing to use duplication glitches, if any exist these days. I haven't played in years lol. I'm also evaluating my willingness to complete building interiors, or facades. I really want to build interiors, so I might work on a smaller scale than a lot of what's seen in your Whiteburg. Thank you for posting this and showing your process, and the evolution of the city. :)
Good luck with your project!
For starting over all the time, I will say that ideas, world versions and the odd corruption here and there will lead you to want to keep moving world files every few years
@@WBCBuilds thank you! Oh dear. I hadn't thought about corruption. I hope I can avoid that!
Respect
Oh man, can’t wait to blow it all up
Which version do you associate with the most?
Version 2 phase 1
The first lol
Pase the older version of Whiteburg underneath the newest and make it a secret archaeological underground city!
