I can see where Hughie is coming from, he was powerless to prevent Robin's death and now has the power to protect his loved ones.

But sometimes she is right she doesn't need to be saved she loves him and that's all that is remotely considered being saved because she is loved by somebody who admires her somebody who will cherish every moment with her and look at how many friends she lost this season Super Sonic is dead because of what homelander did to him. I think next season needs to involve The Liberator because he wants revenge on homelander as much as any member of the boys.

Starlight was mad childish, they had a chance to kill homelander numerous times yet she interfered for no reason
On paper hughie should be correct but he os too much of a dork.
Hughie’s girl was dead within in a second and he couldn’t do anything. Annie getting on him for keeping her away from Homelander after what he did on camera is pretty understandable. It’s also easy to criticize his decision to take temp v when she already has powers from perm v. The man has severe ptsd and was willing die to stop Homelander. Fault him all you want but look at the situation they’re in, Annie almost got her head blown up for being self righteous in the same episode.
Hughies a grown ass man he should be able to understand that soldier boy butcher and maeve can easily kill homelander. Theres no reason for him to do anything, youre both rationalizing his childish behavior.

I've always thought the annie and huey plotline was sloppy. Because not only because everything huey's been through, but show was telling us one thing and showing us another. It's seems like it started off as the no one's the bad guy to it being one-sided. And it's still hypocritical to give Komiko the V and still say it's bad for Huey to have powers when they both have more or less the same reasons. It could be explained in season 4 but I have theory that the real reason annie doesn't want huey to have powers is because she likes having some sort of physical power over men. Because they were so male supes cause physical and mental harmed her, homelander, the deep etc. , she's afraid she loves and trusts like huey could harm her too like all the male supes she associate with. I'm not a psychologist, but that's my theory.

Hughie is constantly surrounded by
1) regular humans who are more tactically skilled than he is
2) people with superpowers
3) his girlfriend is superpowered...but also woefully weaker than the supervillains.
I really don't understand why Annie cannot understand Hughie's point.
Hughie isn't satisfied being benched all the time. Especially when his own girlfriend is involved in the conflict.
Wanting to protect others isn't "toxic masculinity" Hughie has been the one needing protection for the entire show !
Yet the moment he gains the strength to protect Annie is a bad thing ?
Because he words it as him being jealous, or in more simple terms he feels weak compared to her, and not only that, he actively goes against starlight’s wishes thinking he’s protecting her, which is not what starlight wants, she knows what she’s getting into and is trying to help the team get an advantage over the seven.
Hughie’s PoV is understandable, but his trauma isn’t displayed here, instead it’s him having a power trip and developing a saviour complex, when really he was at his best without those powers. You have to remember hughie is willing to do this suicide mission with butcher because finding out his boss is working with the enemy made him snap.

Unlike Batman, Hughie doesn't have Ninja training and an endless bank account to compensate for his lack of superpowers.
You're asking for an iron clad willpower of confidence from Hughie against those kind of odds.

He ignores Annie’s wishes, he proceeds to go back on what he said in the past, coming across as a jealous and insecure man, and has a saviour complex when he gets his powers.
People suffer from trauma and insecurities, but just because they have a reason to be that way, it doesn’t mean that they’re in the right, especially if they end up hurting others in the process.

Hughie is doing something objectively bad helping Soldier Boy kill his team and putting all those people in danger.
But Statlight really should have some empathy, she’s had powers her entire life so it’s easy for her to say that Hughie doesn’t need them, but Hughie is fighting people who could kill him with one punch, or in the case of Homelander a flick of his finger, of course he’s gonna take an equalizer if he’s offered one.
Fuck empathy. it all comes down to who's will presses down on the other. Who gets what they want in the end? Hughie wants to be the protector and wants his girlfriend to stay in a safe room so he feel secure. She doesn't want that. They are going to make up anyways so all this drama is irreverent

Yeah it's great symbolism, they're laid completely bare to one-another for the first time. She's seeing all his insecurity, all his anger, all his pain. The real, unvarnished Hughie. And she ultimately accepts him anyway, warts and all. That's true love.

Honestly, I’m on Huggie’s side. What’s so wrong with a boyfriend wanting to protect his girlfriend? Especially after his first girlfriend was splattered like a pancake by a supe. Either way starlight would not stand for using soldier boy as a weapon. She only saw him and butcher as murderers and tried to interfere. So if she went and tried to stop them being as self righteous as she is she would just be another Robin giving hughie more ptsd for failing to protect the one he loves.
Aside from the story, their acting is phenomenal. I also completely understand Hughie's pov considering he already lost a significant other before.
And that people can hate feeling helpless and weak. It’s not necessarily their fault, it’s just how they feel with certain situations.
Why is everyone against Hughie? I know he contradicted himself about not caring that she was strong but Annie is careless. What she's doing isn't gonna get her killed, instead it's most likely going to get Hughie killed. Yes he can literally just tell her about how worried he is that the same thing will happen to her like it did to Robin. But Starlight could also talk to him and tell him why she feels like she needs to prevent everything. Also why didn't she tell him about the whole situation with Vanessa, considering she almost got her head popped
Annie is not careless, but she is reckless and rightous

because in the end she places herself above him, he talks about his feelings, how he is doing in this situation and he no longer wants to accept it like that. Admittedly, I don't think his behavior is commendable, but he is much more open about his feelings than she is. Looking down on him, that she is disappointed and that his character is always like that is what comes across. Both of them don't listen to each other, but I can still understand hughie's feelings much better. He was always the one to back down, while raising her to stand up to adversity. She almost wanted to leave him at the end of season 2 and even then she didn't see how he suffered over and over again trying to stand his ground and being told over and over again that everyone is disappointed in him. She loses sympathy for me as a result, she sacrifices her life and hughie has to watch, but she is afraid that someone will attack him. But then it should have clicked in her that he too was afraid of losing her

Annie is basically not willing to risk any unknown consequences to defeat Homelander

In the boys knockoff serie diobolical Episode 7, we see an elderly man injecting his dying wife with a substance that he tok from Vought, tho it heals her and eventually gives her powers
It also is a parasite that ends up as a huge threat, which the wife sacrifice herself to take down

Clothes don't teleport,,, but Makeup, lipstick, eye liner and ear rings... no problem.
His power is supposedly skin based, so anything that's attached or sticked to the skin, like the earrings, will teleport as well. It's still hard to explain that her lipstick and makeup also teleport LOL

Teleportation already barely makes sense since you're displacing your atoms from one place to another and apparently it always is in the same position in your body in the teleported location.

If you look at it this way Hughie is the weakest members of the Boys, while Starlight could be considered one of the weakest Supes in the Seven (probably stronger than Deep though). They both constantly get in over their heads with their choices and situations and need to be saved by others at times where they would have died.

He lost his last girlfriend to a supe-related tragedy and he doesn't want to feel powerless if something threatens Annie as well. Hughie should’ve told Annie he’s desperately trying to protect her because the last woman he loved got turned into tomato soup right in front of him and there was nothing he could do about it. On the flip side, Annie’s not a damsel in distress, she can take care of herself.
Annie was literally on the verge of crying on the phone with Hughie about how Homelander has gone completly mental, so Hughie could do was sit on his a** and let Homelander sexually abuse someone he deeply cares about.
She does need saving, I mean even at her enhanced powers she couldn't even knock Soldier Boy out, Soldier Boy got up like nothing happened. How she was gonna stop Soldier Boy?
The point is Soldier Boy would have found the twins with or without Hughie and Butcher's help, I mean he found Crimson on his own. The same thing would have happened but here Hughie was just trying to control him so that he doesn't hur t people, he was actually thinking about saving lives and no one would have died but because of that stupid russian song, Soldier Boy got triggered.

For the people who understand Hugie, you're right because he's a powerless human in a team full of people who aren't only powerful due to having superpowers but even powerful on their own through advanced skills and knowledge. His gf died in seconds and he had no control over it and if it wasn't for Billy then he would've eventually succumbed to the hush money.
For the people who understand Annie, you are also right. Despite everything I said above, the writers made a huge mistake with how Hugie gets across his point of saving others and helping others. He actually says that he's always been uncomfortable that Starlight is more powerful than him, making what he said in the bowling alley a lie and ultimately meaningless, making Starlight feel like all she's made the same mistake twice. Him also getting jealous of Sonic the Hedgehog (EDIT: autocorrect , meant Starlight) was also a bit weird once it was no longer subtle (but even that was still weird). He also said that she "always has to be stronger than" him. Again, another writer mistake because a more consistent and sympathetic response should be more about how powerless he feels or useless or forced to see others die. It shouldn't be about saving her because he already kinda did that when he brought Lamplighter. The only time he should be feeling like this should be if he wants to repay the favour but not in an obsessive way.
Tl;dr: Pro-Hugie fans are right because of all he's been through in series and his position. Pro-Annie fans are right cos the narrative now is having Hugie saying inconsistent things with his character rather than using the actual tragic things that led him to want to save his friends.

She does see that. But it’s like she said earlier, “I don’t need you to protect me, I need *you*”. Plus, she’s trying to protect him as well, in part due to Soldier Boy, and also Temp V.

Huey feeling weak and powerless compared to his gf is a decent enough reason to cram in some drama between them. they'll be back together by the end of the season.

Guys, Hughie's feelings of inferiority and helplessness were present LONG before Robin's death. Hughie has an extensive history of being bullied throughout childhood. He also has a softer nature, so stronger personalities like Butcher and MM can and have intimidated him. Then, he suffers his latest blow when he finds out that he'd been the Headpopper's puppet after fighting so hard to take down Vought. Of course, Hughie wants to save Annie, but he's also taking brain-melting drugs in order to feed his craving for autonomy and power. It's understandable but still self-destructive, and it forces Annie to watch Hughie destroy himself. It's not enough for Annie to be saved, Hughie feels like HE has to be the one to save her.
Self destructive?? Nah, it's actually self empowering. What's wrong with wanting to be strong nd useful?? Yes he craves it but it's not for wrong reasons nd that's what matters the most.......INTENT

I don’t blame Hughie at all, he not bothered that her girlfriend is a powerful woman, hes bothered that he’s too weak to do anything. He couldn’t save Robin, he was beaten down by Butcher and honestly I would be so tired of that bullshit too, he doesn’t want to be weak anymore I honestly don’t blame him. Everyone has there skills and strengths but Hughie is always the weak one.

I like how even Hughie’s power is related to how he wished he could’ve saved Robin. He wanted her someplace else except that area where A-Train turned her into mush.
Maybe the V gives the user their powers according to their desires and also their anatomy. It could make sense as Butcher's desire has always been taking Homelander down, and he also got laser vision to counter Homelander's.

I think what everyone needs to know is that it’s not Huey being sexists or anything, he has insecurities about not being as strong and feeling helpless. But Annie is justified as well because she just wants Huey and not be defined as having to be protected. The show is trying to use the concept of powers to highlight the double standards when it comes to being the strongest in a relationship. Yeah it sucks feeling like you’re helpless and constantly need protecting, I get that feeling. But it sucks more for women as well because all throughout a lot of media, women are defined as having to be the week one and only a strong man can protect her. It’s essentially flipping the roles around in order to look at the idea of “saving the one you love” in a critical way.
Huey feelings are valid and relatable but this shouldn’t mean Annie should feel ashamed of her strength.

My understanding is: he always felt angry and guilty for not being able to save Robin and because she died right in front of him.
He wants revenge but he never had the physical power of a supe or Butcher to hurt someone.
Now he has that power, he can do something. He doesn't have an excuse to sit on the sidelines anymore and let others do his fighting. And Annie is in a house that is about to be blown up. If not by Soldier Boy then by Homelander or the other Supes (their targets are literally called the TNT Twins).
Annie was either going to die in the in the crossfire or going to be punched out by a trained super with the power to hurt/kill other empowered beings.
For all her bravado, Annie never had to be at the end of a psycho like Homelander's wrath.
So yeah, Hughie did the right thing, the writers just couldn't or weren't allowed to articulate it properly.

He was powerless to help so many other people and now that he’s given the chance to really help people and especially help those he cares about, I think he’d hate himself for not taking the chance. I get starlights concern for an untested drug, but if for a moment she could peek into his head and see why he did it, see what it’s like to be incapable of doing anything to prevent evil, she’d understand it too.

Assuming it's not a mistake, easiest explanation is that if something is "inside" you like a pacemaker or earrings, it can teleport with Hughie's power. Therefore, Hughie could use himself as a drug mule by swallowing shit. I did see a comment on Reddit that Hughie should technically leave behind the saliva in his mouth if he can only teleport himself as it isn't part of him. If the rules of his teleportation include objects within himself, saliva works.

He wasn't “I have to protect all of you because I'm the man.” because, as I listed above, those were other guys he wanted to protect.
Him wanting to protect Starlight instead of being a hostage is understandable. Not because he's the man, but because its heartbreaking to see someone suffering taking on the battle by themselves (Annie’s friend got killed just for telling A-Train they wanted to form a group to stop him) because they cant rely on you. So him wanting to get Soldier Boy to stop that one makes sense.
Starlight says she doesn't need Hughie’s protection. But that could also sound like “Youre not strong enough to protect me.” especially since Starlight herself isn't strong enough to stand up to him without Edgar or Blackmail.
And that isn't even because she's female. Its because Homelander doesn't care either way. Even the police didn't want to mess with him.

This season was good, but Annie being completely naive about Hughie’s feelings is pretty fucked up. Hughie does love her for who she is, but the problem is there are times where even annie needs help, like fighting A-train that one time. Hughie felt helpless not being able to help her, billy, and the other boys. In a way it does give a bit of a drug addiction thing wanting power, but wanting to be able to protect Annie and everybody else and take homelander on as well is completely understandable.

Did they ever explain how Hughie’s teleporting powers leaving clothing behind works? Because why do the clothes get left behind while something like Annie’s hair clip/band stay on her when she teleports?
Not much later in this episode Soldier Boy wipes out almost all the heroes on the ground floor (which is where Annie was heading when Hughie teleported her) she would’ve most likely died. Not saying that Hughie doesn’t definitely have some issues he needs to work out, but him “saving” her here was definitely the right play.
Also nothing wrong with a man wanting to save his woman and to be strong himself, only if Starlight is super insecure should she find that as a threat. If that's the case, they belong together.

It's essentially their way of saying "See, Masculinity is bad, Hughie should just get over his complex human emotions and be the good boy Annie wants". How would you not see this? I mean they're really blatant about it this season. Seriously, compare S1 to this and you'll see what I'm talking about, the whole thing feels like a PBS special on how men should act while it ignores the blatant hypocrisy of it. It's a clear attempt just to get Hughie to admit to Annie how he was wrong, therefore convincing an entire generation of boys growing up that we're wrong to pursue strength, capability, and the ability to protect our loved ones.
Here's the double standard. When Kimiko asks for perm V, they put up some resistance, but they all fold because of her text paragraph, where she explains how she wants to be there for her friends.
LITERALLY the same rational Hughie had for wanting powers, but when a man says it, it's toxic masculinity, and Hughie needs to "Man up" by recognizing his role as emotional support male. They always push this, they especially make it clear when Hughie is apologizing to Annie for all this afterwards which is obvious attempt from the writers to showcase how "wrong" Hughie was, a man, trying to have ambitions, power, and the ability to protect his women. Then they turn around and act like Kimiko is heroic for doing the same with her man, cause she's a girl. The double standards are clear, you're the one going out of your way to ignore them. The writers are clearly on some Feminist bender and that's why they demonize Hughie so much this season, why this tried to make this entire season about "Toxic Masculinity" and gaslighting Hughie and men into thinking them feeling insecure about their ability to be protector is wrong, but Kimiko being protector, that's girlpower.
