Thanks for you honesty! You can spend so much money on lures and the classics still do the job! What is the attitude towards surf fishing and anglers in general in costa rica?
I see from another comment that you will give an update about the rod you use, I saw in your other viddie that you got it from Amazon a goture brand... My question is, how's it holding up? I'm thinking of getting a travel rod and if I don't have to pay $200... Better yet.
The rod is actually holding up way better than expected. I did lose a guide insert on the last trip to Costa, but the damage was my fault. I packed the rod in my surf bag instead of my check luggage or carrying it on with me.
Great video, really appreciate the tips and tricks, hopefully one day I’ll make the trip! Perfect that new fly rod technique you’ve been working on in the mountains and let’s see you catch your dream Fish on that down there! 👍👍👍
I just got here, and I noticed it is on and off raining. Will the rain affect the fishing, do you fish right through it, or does it depend how hard it is
I’ve put all types of tackle in my carry on. First time I did it I was worried I’d have to check as I had a lot of lures with big treble hooks and a box just of hooks. Wasn’t an issue. I’ve done it many times now. Only have done this flying domestic in the US but I have a trip planned to Costa Rica in August and will be putting tackle in carry on. Worst case they make you check it.
i tried some sub surface stuff by rapala, traditional plastics on jig heads and some smaller jerk bait lures that didn't have the casting distance i felt was needed for surf fishing.
@@see_you_out_there any general locations to stay where the shore fishing can be opportunistic? Unfortunately there’s not much travel info on areas in general for someone wanting to fish the shore while on a family vacation. I hate to ask because some people feel that it bring unwanted attention to areas, but never been to Costa Rica.
Great Information. Thank you. What do you recommend for weights
@@karlar5950 thank you for watching!! I typically throw around 1/2 oz up to a full 0z depending on the lure and surf conditions
Do you need a fishing permit or license of any kinds as a tourist in Costa Rica? Great video and thanks for sharing.
@@laszlobacs9347 for surf fishing no permit or license is reauired

We've never had a bad experience fishing in Costa, locals always seem welcoming and happy.

Thanks for the info, is great and apreciated...
Anytime, that is for watching!
I did well on halcos too off the rocks. I gave away my lures to the locals before leaving.
That's a great idea, I may take a few extra next time!! 😀
It helps. Let's just say this, when you see the locals fishing during work hours, you better be out there 😀
@@iamatt yeah that's a fact!!!

You are there in the Rainy or Green season. It's going to rain for 6 months. It does not bother the fish one bit!!
Anyone know if you have to check tackle hooks etc or can carry on?
