The biggest problem is, they are not stoic. Disney doesn't get what stoicism is. They are like a bad sigma male meme of stoicism. Stoicism is about feeling strong feelings but keeping in control and not completely stop or run wild. But still feeling, seeing beauty and so on
Pretty much every character in the prequels was devoid of any personality, except Darth Maul, who they killed off before his MOJO rubbed off on Anakin and gave him a pulse.

It was interesting hearing people at work today. Who love Ahsoka? I think it's one of the best shows ever. They were so pissed off at this season finale that the only thing that they were going is I hope the next season is good. But when he told I told them about Ray Stevenson's death they just went. "Oh I guess they can just CGI him in the next season and then kill him off early.". And that right there is a training that Disney has done to their viewership. They have trained them, not the care and just consume and be hyped for the next product.

I was on a board a few years ago when some women decided they were unhappy and wanted things. They were able to defeat me and get their cabal elected and ended up with a majority on the board. They then proceeded to do F*** All. They had a majority! They could have changed policies and done the "things" they wanted, but noooo.....it was almost as though they just wanted to see themselves as *board members*, put it on their resume or something, pretend like they were important. I have no idea. They talked and emoted their way through two years of board meetings and accomplished nothing that we couldn't quickly undo once they'd lost interest and moved on to destroying their marriages and who knows what else. It was completely bizarre. I've spent over a half a century as a woman but still have NO IDEA what the general population of women want and why they are so tedious, destructive, and stupid. I've also never, ever not felt empowered. I don't need other men or other women to tell me I am or hand me some award. People who need that are weak and therefore not really empowered At All.
The tension between Sabine and Ahsoka during all their quite scenes had me saying "ugh just scissor each other and get it over with so we can get on with the show"

I've never realized before just now that the SW IP is just totally dead. Aside from the trickle of decent games we get for it, the franchise is done unless Disney sells it or drastically changes. It would be beyond satisfying to see the Twitter meltdown if Disney sells the Star Wars IP and the new owner scrubs all of the Disney content from the official timeline.
That's my problem with this series is I look at these characters from Rebels and I'm like "Who are you people?". None of them actually like their animated counterparts. Hell the animated versions have more life than the live action versions.

I'm so incredibly sad, that people who haven't watched Rebels think this is what Hera is like. In Rebels, Hera was the foundation of the group; mature, kind, sensible, patient, a great listener, and always there to help someone thru their problems. In this show, they turned her into an immature, impulsive, one-dimensional caricature of a smug hot-head with a permanent sarcastic smirk, that peacocks around flashing her ass. Complete opposite of what Hera is.

The movie left some things for the audience to put together, as it was apparent that Syndrome spent most of his life working on being useful as at least a sidekick to a hero like Mr Incredible and the hero he idolised so much just trashed his hard work and dreams like they're nothing. As we can see later, it was an unfair judgement since Syndrome was able to catch up in power.

The scene were Thrawn slipped on a banana peel, fell down the stairs, went head first into a toilet and then slipped on another banana peel before crashing into a table of cakes was true Star Wars. What made it the most perfect scene though was when he said "This is all according to my plan!"
It's hilarious that Force Ghost Anakin Skywalker can reach out to Ahsoka but not his son Luke who needed that training and life lessons from his father. Plus, Luke having to fight Anakin in his pre-burned state would be pure unadulterated awesomeness.
Vader didn't know Luke was even alive until after Episode 4 A New Hope. And it makes sense he'd have a closer force connection to Ahsoka, his padawan whom he trained for years in battle during the Clone Wars. Don't get me wrong, Disney is trash for what they've done to Star Wars, but this particular reason isn't it...

I get that the arm crossing is supposed to show a character as stoic, but it feels more like they are bored, or defensive (It signals a person who is distant, insecure, defensive or anxious).
Arm crossing has always been a defensive body signal. Saying it is supposed to make someone look stoic is like saying someone doing the Floss is an assertion of dominance.
Fittingly, crossing arms like that is what insecure, emotionally immature teens think is cool and badass and edgy. (Specifically because it's the defensive part of it that appeals to them but they don't realize it.) And Filoni proves that you don't have to be biologically a teen to remain one.
Normal human behavior is women hold their hands behind their back because it enhances their curves making the female body look more attractive. What do we see when Anakin and Assoka meet? 4:43 Anakin holds his hand behind and Assoka continues to fold her arms giving her the figure of a tree stump. Maybe Hayden just didn't want to look like he was imitating the grumpy girl boss, but what they achieved was another role reversal in the form of standing posture.
What is stupid about the whole thing is LUKE SKYWALKER is in his prime and still around during this age of the Star Wars lore. This is the time he starts the new Jedi temple but there is no reason why he would not be the one who hears of another Jedi and goes off to find that person and do the things Ashoka is doing. Her character is completely inserted to make Luke, yet again, irrelevant and a supplemental NPC, in the plot of the 'real story'.
And lets not forget that one guy who cant enjoy a show anymore because its not the "old days" if you want that just watch the old movies or even better make a film on your own. What is so bad when weman get to be the bad ass too. And Thrawn, Ezra and Baylan where f**** ing smoking in this show in my opinion.

I really loved the part where Ezra does absolutely nothing to try and stop Thrawn during the trans galactic journey. He presumably hide in a closet until he had the chance to steal a shuttle and run to home to mommy so she can tell him what to do.
He was stuck on a ship with hundreds if not thousands of troopers on it that also now has 3 witches on it that could turn anyone he kills into zombies and can in some form predict the future, what was he suppose to do against that?
I believe the vision helped Ahsoka move on from her guilt of leaving the Jedi, and therefore, in her eyes, not being there to stop Anakin going Sith. That may be the most character development in the entire series from the look of it, though.
The best part was when Thrawn looked at the group of heros and said "But you're not all girls" and Ezra said "Are you a biologist?" Emmy Awards in bound like a bunch of suicidal Tie Fighter pilots.
Thrawn in the books was incredibly calm, deeply clever, amd dangerously capable. Thrawn in the show was a doofus who makes mistake after mistake and played it off as "All according to my plan, yes I'm brilliant"; The idiot's version of the smart person in essence.

No one ever understood what the force was, especially since Disney took over. As a jedi fanatic, I have studied the force as its fictional purpose as well as the religious backgrounds behind it. And what we have done is taken away its meaning and saw it more as a tool to be used. Sure, it was done like that in the past, but so sparingly that it took so much effort just to make something wiggle. Because the force was life, mysterious and mystic. Now it's like that sonic screwdriver from the doctor who. Lifeless, devoid of mystery, and just used to push plot. I just wanted to say this because I believe we have all forgotten how it felt when old Ben told us about the force for the first time, hearing John Williams force theme with the wonders of imagination and curiosity.

One of the most painful things in recent memory is not even the Disney shills who slurp up anything they are given like it's liquid gold and not liquid sh**, but the people acting like Star Wars was NEVER good. No, it was ALWAYS good. It was an example of taking the audience to another world, another galaxy, far, far, away, and giving them the air of scope and mystery that used to be common in movies like this, Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, you name it. The special effects haven't held up, sure, but the writing and story telling is still A-Tier and is leagues above this schlock we're being served these days which, ironically, reels that scope ALL THE WAY BACK to planet Earth and reminds us of dyed hair feminists and annoying girl bosses. They think they're so brave for being misandrists who put men down and prop women up. You know what would have been REALLY brave? Whenever Sabine and Ahsoka were together on the screen, I was wondering "Are they trying to pass the elusive Bechdel test?" and I was waiting for Facebook to finally name-drop it in one of many Star Wars shil-pages pretending not to be ads. Also, I absolutely love how Disney bought Lucasfilm to broaden their demographics (get some IP for the boys) and immediately turned Star Wars into first female this and first female that. What a time to be alive.
The issue is, that strong and independent whamen without children don't watch star wars. Maybe Sux in the city or stuff like that while drinking wine and enjoying the company of cats. 17:47 we do actually know who the figures are in this shot. However, in recent Disney fashion, it’s homework. Essentially they’re characters from the clone wars series. (If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend it, on top of that it has the best character version of Asoka.) Anyway. The figure that he’s standing on is a character called “father” and one on the right is “son” and left is “daughter.” Fantastic names! Jokes aside, they are essentially embodiments of the light and dark sides of the force. The daughter represents the light, the son represents the dark, and the father is the neutral point i between them. No idea why they’re here or what it means, but I’m going to enjoy the gem of stars that hasn’t been touched and been defaced yet.
I really wanted to like Ahsoka. Now that it is over, I can say that my reactions were very similar to how I watched the rebooted Star Trek movies: Moment of "that was cool/interesting" followed by long periods of "that doesn't make any sense" punctuated by exclamations of "WTF!" In Rebels, I always liked Sabine. Except for an encounter with Darth Vader, she always assaulted forward (as a Mandalorian should) and I found her quirkiness as Mandalorian artist a nice change of pace. In Ahsoka, her entire Jedi journey seemed to diminish her character rather than improve it and ultimately she came off as just another insufferable Disney Mary Sue. I also recently learned of the influence of Dave Filoni's wife on the show. For me, this felt like a promotion of something very divisive and toxic. Nuff said there.
Yeah, Dismay (Disney) doesn’t grasp the concept, that non-Force Sensitives, like the Mandalorians and Emperors Crimson Guard, were especially trained to combat such threats, stun them, neutralize techniques, also had specialized equipment, and knowledge in how to dispatch Force Users, Jedi and Sith. I mean, Vader hated Palpatine’s Red (Crimson) Guard, as they could even fight him to a challenging point.
She could have been a badass mandolorian warrior, whos competent with a lightsaber in this show. Instead she was an incompetent wanna be jedi who couldn't even use her blasters effectively. They could of shown us that you don't need the force to be a hero by having Sabine fight like a mandolorian, using all her tech and skills to defeat shin. But we can't have that because the force is female.
And poorly choreographed. Ahsoka had several openings for her second blade that she didn't take. Finally the choreographers gave up and destroyed her light saber to get her down to just one.

As a female, I get tired of people focusing on female empowerment. It just feels like a participation award… I love Asoka in the clone wars and they had had some insane antagonists of BOTH genders. I just want that back (the last season was an amazing surprise to me since I didn’t expect it) but I’m sure they’ll run it into the ground.
The worst part is that they act like we've never seen empowered women before. Princess Leia, Sarah Connor, Neytiri, Ellen Ripley, Samus Aran, Turanga Leela. It's like they don't exist, even though they're the prefect examples of strong female characters
It honestly feels like pandering. They're not really focusing on the strengths of the character beyond the fact that she's female, so you end up with a contrived and empty feeling character and story because the writers don't the meaning of of the word depth. They need to stop focusing on the female empowerment thing, just write a compelling character with flaws and make their actions at least somewhat relatable.
I'm with you. I could care less what gender the main characters are. But Snips and Sabine everyone else were cool characters I enjoyed. What's been done to them is a bloody tragedy.
And as a man, there are some female characters I enjoy. Not because I think they're "hot", but because they are genuinely interesting - like Ventress. Her Antagonist-turned-Anti-hero arc is interesting. But I can tell you now, if D+ ever did an Assaj Ventress show, I would 100% not care. Because I know they'd screw it up. I know they'd fill it to the brim with current year socio-political messaging. They just can't help themselves anymore.

In my opinion it still holds up very well today, I've recently rewatched it for like the sixth time. Stargate Atlantis is ok, but never really hooked me like SG1 and Stargate Universe was horrible in comparison.
I like all of it, but Universe was subpar and it felt like it was really influenced by Battlestar Galactica which was a great show also, it just didn’t feel like Stargate.

It's basically the end of Star Wars' mythos, since the Force aptitude being a rare genetic-ish trait underpinned core limitations of the setting. If everyone can have it if they try, it destroys the entire body of worldbuilding starting with the original movie.
There are actually some old articles I've read that this comes from George Lucas himself. This specifically isn't from Disney. But don't take my word for it, that's what Google is for. I'm not trying to sht on you, just to be very clear. :)

By the time he got around to making the prequels, Lucas had a VERY different idea about who could become a Jedi, as shown in the films themselves, the EU stuff approved in the 90’s that follows the same idea as the prequels, and pretty much everything published by Lucasfilm pre-Disney. What a creator says matters less than what he or she actually produces, and what Lucas actually produced later shows that he clearly had changed his mind since he made that statement.

I like to think that rather than making a ton of mistakes, Thrawn knew that the protagonists had so much plot armor that he had no hope of winning. So actually, rather than a complete fail, he succeeded in only allowing 1 of 3 protagonists to stow away.

How can Disney not afford good choreographers? The sword fighting is so boring and slow. Not methodical like the OT, not fast paced and precise like the Prequels, but sluggish and bored.

If they'd had made Ezra, Ashoka's apprentice, and Sabine a badass Mandalorian hanger-oner, with making Thrawn more dangerous, coupled with one of the popular Sith, this could have been a great show.

To me, entire Ahsoka show feels more like a Star Wars soap, where you have dramatic music where there is no drama/situation that it actually fits with. Convos are shit, plot is not even thought out properly, just halfass ideas. Space Whales, was kinda introduced in SW back in 1984, but I was hoping that it would never ever be mentioned again! Anyways, I could go ranting for days about terrible Disney SW ideas. Baylan is probably the most interesting character of them all, but... yeah.

Because, somehow, cloning now allows Force-sensitives to be created (something that was a mostly impossibility of happening (with even any successes suffering side effects) because that could mean you could just CLONE ANY Jedi and not make trainable Jedi with future potential a rarity that the Jedi Order went to great lengths in locating and recruiting. Losing ANY Jedi MATTERED to the Jedi Order because Jedi weren't an inexhaustible supply like stormtroopers, and that doesn't even take into account that some Jedi went over to the Dark Side (and vice versa).
I wonder what the stage directions in the script must be like. "After the dialog, try to stretch out the scene for at least five more minutes by looking around." Or maybe the camera just keeps rolling while the actresses awkwardly try (and fail) to improvise.

@@4G63Tx I think the problem is that Lucas's direction usually ended up being faster with more energy, which doesn't work as well for a romance scene. I also don't think her acting was THAT awful.
The biggest problem is, they are not stoic. Disney doesn't get what stoicism is. They are like a bad sigma male meme of stoicism. Stoicism is about feeling strong feelings but keeping in control and not completely stop or run wild. But still feeling, seeing beauty and so on
Pretty much every character in the prequels was devoid of any personality, except Darth Maul, who they killed off before his MOJO rubbed off on Anakin and gave him a pulse.

It was interesting hearing people at work today. Who love Ahsoka? I think it's one of the best shows ever. They were so pissed off at this season finale that the only thing that they were going is I hope the next season is good. But when he told I told them about Ray Stevenson's death they just went. "Oh I guess they can just CGI him in the next season and then kill him off early.". And that right there is a training that Disney has done to their viewership. They have trained them, not the care and just consume and be hyped for the next product.

I was today years old when I learned there is an AWARD for female empowerment. As a female myself, I'm considering moving to Mars. I don't want to be associated with these people
I was on a board a few years ago when some women decided they were unhappy and wanted things. They were able to defeat me and get their cabal elected and ended up with a majority on the board. They then proceeded to do F*** All. They had a majority! They could have changed policies and done the "things" they wanted, but noooo.....it was almost as though they just wanted to see themselves as *board members*, put it on their resume or something, pretend like they were important. I have no idea. They talked and emoted their way through two years of board meetings and accomplished nothing that we couldn't quickly undo once they'd lost interest and moved on to destroying their marriages and who knows what else. It was completely bizarre. I've spent over a half a century as a woman but still have NO IDEA what the general population of women want and why they are so tedious, destructive, and stupid.
I've also never, ever not felt empowered.
I don't need other men or other women to tell me I am or hand me some award. People who need that are weak and therefore not really empowered At All.

I've never realized before just now that the SW IP is just totally dead. Aside from the trickle of decent games we get for it, the franchise is done unless Disney sells it or drastically changes.
It would be beyond satisfying to see the Twitter meltdown if Disney sells the Star Wars IP and the new owner scrubs all of the Disney content from the official timeline.
That's my problem with this series is I look at these characters from Rebels and I'm like "Who are you people?". None of them actually like their animated counterparts. Hell the animated versions have more life than the live action versions.

In Rebels, Hera was the foundation of the group; mature, kind, sensible, patient, a great listener, and always there to help someone thru their problems. In this show, they turned her into an immature, impulsive, one-dimensional caricature of a smug hot-head with a permanent sarcastic smirk, that peacocks around flashing her ass. Complete opposite of what Hera is.
Its so incredibly sad those same people think Ahsoka is like that too.....just consider for a second that a guy wearing a complete face helmet can put more into his character acting that Roxanne Dawson does into Ahsoka...and let that sink in.

The movie left some things for the audience to put together, as it was apparent that Syndrome spent most of his life working on being useful as at least a sidekick to a hero like Mr Incredible and the hero he idolised so much just trashed his hard work and dreams like they're nothing. As we can see later, it was an unfair judgement since Syndrome was able to catch up in power.

It's hilarious that Force Ghost Anakin Skywalker can reach out to Ahsoka but not his son Luke who needed that training and life lessons from his father. Plus, Luke having to fight Anakin in his pre-burned state would be pure unadulterated awesomeness.
Vader didn't know Luke was even alive until after Episode 4 A New Hope. And it makes sense he'd have a closer force connection to Ahsoka, his padawan whom he trained for years in battle during the Clone Wars.

Her character is completely inserted to make Luke, yet again, irrelevant and a supplemental NPC, in the plot of the 'real story'.

I believe the vision helped Ahsoka move on from her guilt of leaving the Jedi, and therefore, in her eyes, not being there to stop Anakin going Sith. That may be the most character development in the entire series from the look of it, though.

No one ever understood what the force was, especially since Disney took over. As a jedi fanatic, I have studied the force as its fictional purpose as well as the religious backgrounds behind it. And what we have done is taken away its meaning and saw it more as a tool to be used. Sure, it was done like that in the past, but so sparingly that it took so much effort just to make something wiggle. Because the force was life, mysterious and mystic. Now it's like that sonic screwdriver from the doctor who. Lifeless, devoid of mystery, and just used to push plot. I just wanted to say this because I believe we have all forgotten how it felt when old Ben told us about the force for the first time, hearing John Williams force theme with the wonders of imagination and curiosity.

17:47 we do actually know who the figures are in this shot. However, in recent Disney fashion, it’s homework. Essentially they’re characters from the clone wars series. (If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend it, on top of that it has the best character version of Asoka.) Anyway. The figure that he’s standing on is a character called “father” and one on the right is “son” and left is “daughter.” Fantastic names! Jokes aside, they are essentially embodiments of the light and dark sides of the force. The daughter represents the light, the son represents the dark, and the father is the neutral point i between them. No idea why they’re here or what it means, but I’m going to enjoy the gem of stars that hasn’t been touched and been defaced yet.
I really wanted to like Ahsoka. Now that it is over, I can say that my reactions were very similar to how I watched the rebooted Star Trek movies: Moment of "that was cool/interesting" followed by long periods of "that doesn't make any sense" punctuated by exclamations of "WTF!"
In Rebels, I always liked Sabine. Except for an encounter with Darth Vader, she always assaulted forward (as a Mandalorian should) and I found her quirkiness as Mandalorian artist a nice change of pace. In Ahsoka, her entire Jedi journey seemed to diminish her character rather than improve it and ultimately she came off as just another insufferable Disney Mary Sue.
I also recently learned of the influence of Dave Filoni's wife on the show. For me, this felt like a promotion of something very divisive and toxic. Nuff said there.
Yeah, Dismay (Disney) doesn’t grasp the concept, that non-Force Sensitives, like the Mandalorians and Emperors Crimson Guard, were especially trained to combat such threats, stun them, neutralize techniques, also had specialized equipment, and knowledge in how to dispatch Force Users, Jedi and Sith. I mean, Vader hated Palpatine’s Red (Crimson) Guard, as they could even fight him to a challenging point.

As a female, I get tired of people focusing on female empowerment. It just feels like a participation award… I love Asoka in the clone wars and they had had some insane antagonists of BOTH genders. I just want that back (the last season was an amazing surprise to me since I didn’t expect it) but I’m sure they’ll run it into the ground.
The worst part is that they act like we've never seen empowered women before. Princess Leia, Sarah Connor, Neytiri, Ellen Ripley, Samus Aran, Turanga Leela. It's like they don't exist, even though they're the prefect examples of strong female characters
It honestly feels like pandering. They're not really focusing on the strengths of the character beyond the fact that she's female, so you end up with a contrived and empty feeling character and story because the writers don't the meaning of of the word depth. They need to stop focusing on the female empowerment thing, just write a compelling character with flaws and make their actions at least somewhat relatable.
As a male, I know that women just don't have what it takes to be as empowered as men are by nature.
I'm with you. I could care less what gender the main characters are. But Snips and Sabine everyone else were cool characters I enjoyed. What's been done to them is a bloody tragedy.
And as a man, there are some female characters I enjoy. Not because I think they're "hot", but because they are genuinely interesting - like Ventress. Her Antagonist-turned-Anti-hero arc is interesting.
But I can tell you now, if D+ ever did an Assaj Ventress show, I would 100% not care. Because I know they'd screw it up. I know they'd fill it to the brim with current year socio-political messaging. They just can't help themselves anymore.

Best would be to start with the original movie and then proceed with the series SG1, followed by the SG1 movie Ark of Truth. In my opinion it still holds up very well today, I've recently rewatched it for like the sixth time.
Stargate Atlantis is ok, but never really hooked me like SG1 and Stargate Universe was horrible in comparison.
I like all of it, but Universe was subpar and it felt like it was really influenced by Battlestar Galactica which was a great show also, it just didn’t feel like Stargate.

It's basically the end of Star Wars' mythos, since the Force aptitude being a rare genetic-ish trait underpinned core limitations of the setting. If everyone can have it if they try, it destroys the entire body of worldbuilding starting with the original movie.

Yes, Lucas said that IN THE 70’s/80’s. By the time he got around to making the prequels, Lucas had a VERY different idea about who could become a Jedi, as shown in the films themselves, the EU stuff approved in the 90’s that follows the same idea as the prequels, and pretty much everything published by Lucasfilm pre-Disney. What a creator says matters less than what he or she actually produces, and what Lucas actually produced later shows that he clearly had changed his mind since he made that statement.

I like to think that rather than making a ton of mistakes, Thrawn knew that the protagonists had so much plot armor that he had no hope of winning. So actually, rather than a complete fail, he succeeded in only allowing 1 of 3 protagonists to stow away.

@danleeds9204 I stopped after 7. That moment when Rey shot her first shot from the turret and blew up 3 fighters with 1 shot. I wouldn't even call that a Disney movie. I wouldn't even call that fan fic. As others have called it it was vandalism. I still like watching the train wreck though. I used to not understand hollywood and question their weird decisions. I'm sure there's way more behind the scenes but I sort of get it better now like how award shows are just when they groom each other like a pack of animals.

Absolutely true The girl who played the young Ashoka was phenomenal. Full of life. Expressive.
She also played young Gamora in Infinity War.

If they'd had made Ezra, Ashoka's apprentice, and Sabine a badass Mandalorian hanger-oner, with making Thrawn more dangerous, coupled with one of the popular Sith, this could have been a great show.

I mean, I agree with you...but it's been abundantly clear for years that Disney has no interest in good writing.
To me, entire Ahsoka show feels more like a Star Wars soap, where you have dramatic music where there is no drama/situation that it actually fits with. Convos are shit, plot is not even thought out properly, just halfass ideas. Space Whales, was kinda introduced in SW back in 1984, but I was hoping that it would never ever be mentioned again!
Anyways, I could go ranting for days about terrible Disney SW ideas.
Baylan is probably the most interesting character of them all, but... yeah.
It would've been half decent if they'd at least given us some good saber fights. With actual choreography. This "master jedi" is painful to look at. I did better with a stick when I was a kid

The fact that everyone in the latest star wars tv show, is suddenly force sensitive reminds me of those made up TV shows within futurama, where everyone was having amnesia. Because it was deemed cool by executives, so they crammed as much of it as possible 😅

This whole series is the longform equivalent of "somehow, Palpatine returned"
Because, somehow, cloning now allows Force-sensitives to be created (something that was a mostly impossibility of happening (with even any successes suffering side effects) because that could mean you could just CLONE ANY Jedi and not make trainable Jedi with future potential a rarity that the Jedi Order went to great lengths in locating and recruiting. Losing ANY Jedi MATTERED to the Jedi Order because Jedi weren't an inexhaustible supply like stormtroopers, and that doesn't even take into account that some Jedi went over to the Dark Side (and vice versa).

It’s like Filoni got a memo that said “don’t portray female characters as too emotional” and decided to go way too far in the opposite direction. I’ve seen more emotion from people deleting files than the characters in this entire show

Bechdel is such a fraud. Author Samuel R. Delany, one of the first successful black scifi authors (who happens to be bi) gave her his notes on a paper he was working on that gave her the idea to use in her lesbian comic.
When it became popular she cited feminist women activists and writers as inspiration for her test. When Delany mentioned it in a 2014 interview, Bechdel distanced herself from the test.
