This ad makes me wanna buy a set of indys. Problem is I already have 3 pairs of them on 3 different setups
I'm up to 5 on different sized boards. Feel free to indulge.
Join the club dawg. Ain’t no shame in variety.
Omg me too
Just of curiosity, different sizes?? I get back on my bord after 15 years. bought some 139 and an 8. then, because I want to learn transition, bought some 149 and an 8.4... I still dont know if sell the 8 set sup, or just ride both of them
@@sebamtorres yeah different sizes and different models.
And just skate whichever one you're more comfortable. Transition skaters usually skate bigger boards
I had Indy 149 hollows for the longest, but decided to up to the Indy 159s, non hollow.
Best decision I’ve made. Wish I’d have done it a lot sooner.
Also, the 149s are on my cruiser now, and at over 2 years old, they’re still going great.
Both are great trucks.
man Indys are just the best out there, idk if its a head thing for me but if im not riding indys i cant do certain tricks anymore
funny they used the clip of that last crooked grind into the puddle and it was on thunder trucks...….come on indy.... collin would never provide old footy for a piece like this
man stfu... how do you even know that?
@@thomasfischer3020 timing. People start riding at dif stages of their lives and companies introduce their riders. If the clip is from a certain time period aka before he rode indies then
Who cares?
@@boogie.. you
Lol yeah indy tryinn to take impact credit from the truck rhino tried to discredit
Indys for life
This dude rips man. He’s from my home town here in Florida. 🤘
Fuck yes Clive! DUDE 👊🏻
Started on Indy’s as a kid only truck I had for years then stopped skateboarding for a bit got back into it on a set of thunders I had no idea why I couldn’t skate properly again but battled on getting slightly used to it . Bought another set of Indy’s and that’s when I realised the whole base plate touching deal that’s the game changer , why would you want your wheels hard into the ledge on a tail nose or with in blunt it doesn’t make sense bones stf’s made a big difference from softer wheels but still getting back on those Indy’s saved skating for me I thought I just sucked
I recently tried riding two other truck brands and just couldn’t get the turning quality of 149 standards! I learned my lesson! Never cheating again lol
Ace's turn better than Indy's.
@@kanescrimes4848 they might turn better (subjective) but they are far less stable than Indy
@@kanescrimes4848 Not knocking Ace, but they just mimic the geometry of the Indy Stage 3. I've heard that they are great in bowl and pool situations, which make sense, since they were designed in an era before street skating
Personally, I've got enough Stage 11s stashed away that I can never find an excuse to buy a pair of Ace and give them a shot, but they have definitely piqued my interest
@@manysnakes They pretty much ARE a stage 3.
The guy who started Ace worked or co-owned, or was designer for Independent for a long time.
For all I know, he could have been the designer of the stage 3?
They're definitely great for transition, but I mostly skate street and they've stayed on my board for the last 6 years of street skating,(been skating for 32 years) and I've NEVER locked onto a round rail like I do on Aces(beveled hanger)
They don't have much meat, but they don't seem to wear as fast as Indy's either.
That might translate to Independent having a faster grind, but I haven't noticed yet.
If I can't get Ace's Id get stage 11's.
HOWEVER: Independent moved shop across the ocean and I've heard people saying they have slippery axles again like the stage 7 or 8's had.
Have you heard anything on that?
@@kmrskates Turning isn't subjective.
I think you're trying to allude to personal preference.
A person may have a personal preference regarding their turning radius, but that is due to human variant not a variant created by the action alone.
Less stable?
In what way?
Do you mean swamp truck?
IF SO: That's not less stable as much as it a tighter and more pronounced turning ability that takes getting used to just as every change in skate gear requires some adjustments.
This factor is INTENSELY changed with differing washer placements and bushing choices.
IF NOT: Then explain what you are trying to imply by "less stable"
It seems like you're trying to claim that one is indefinitely better than the other...which negates the validity in your first claim of subjectivity, AND is irrelevant to anything I've said.
...so...??? What is your aim here?
What sucks about Ace's: Your ollies will need major adjusting, and have a sloppy feel in comparison to something that widens your wheel base.
HOWEVER: If you have a deck with a wheelbase 1/8 longer...
See what I'm getting at?
Ace's turn better...that's irrefutable.
Whether or not a person rides with locked down trucks is irrelevant in regards to my claim.
In other words: The subjectivity that you both appealed to AND negated has no affect on the fact of a tighter turning radius.
I'm not claiming one is better indefinitely, but I'm DEFINITELY saying Ace's have a tighter turning radius...are you really trying to argue that?
You'd have to be REALLY REALLY dumb to try.
That'd be akin to trying to argue against 2+2=4.
...and there are no grounds for contending preferences so...?
0:58 that is so satisfying to watch!!!
Uh, yeah, I'd say he's got a nice groove in those trucks! LOL! Got some 149s coming in the mail on Thursday. And an 8.5" deck on the way too. Been working my way up in deck sizes. This guy, Cab, and Hawk all ride 149s. I went with Indy standards to try the new size out. Maybe I will get the titanium ones next time if I find that that's the size I like the best.
mega crook was sooo sick
I've been skating for 22 years and for almost 20 of those years I've been riding Tensor. The. Best. Trucks. Ever! I had a friend who was on Indy and he hooked me up with a pair and they were absolutely terrible. King pin snapped in 3 hours. I gave them away
chuck Core I’m pretty big and my 139s held up well, I have thunder 148s to try em out rn but I’ve had multiple ventures that kingpins have snapped but I also used to ride my trucks very tight as a teen
@@xExile7 I've always ridden loose trucks. Still snapped kingpins left and right until I started riding grind king then tensor came out and it was game over for me
chuck Core my Indy’s were on the looser end but I can’t ride these thunders too loose I instantly wheel bite probably because I’m a big dude idk , I’ll check out Tensors but I kinda wanna buy 149 Indys
@@xExile7 well I ride magnesium tensor Lo and they are the lightest, strongest trucks ever. If you like indys maybe tensor hi would work for you. They are seriously great trucks.
I'm pretty big myself and they've held up insanely good.
What he's talking about at 1:40 is exactly what I experienced with a pair of Indys a few months ago haha. Still the best trucks out there though.
Same on my 139s it's kinda shit. I'm skating venture 5.8s next lol
@@maxdaniels4326 I ended up buying new pair of Indys just because they grind and turn better than anything else but was really pissed about that
@@obamahustler ah fair enough mate that makes sense, I've only skated Indy's so I don't have anything else to compare them too apart from some shitty trucks off my old birdhouse complete haha

@@tweekedmobb1789 ¿??¿‽
Dude helped me learn noseblunts. I didn't know you could slide on the baseplate. I've been trying to hit it right on the nose and have been having trouble getting out.
I gotta say the indy UA-cam channel is putting out some really killer content!
I’m sold!
What brand of truck was he riding at the staple center?
I've skated for 30+ years and have only ridden Indys
That's too bad.
It's never too late to step outside the stubbornly thoughtless comfort zone of "Indy's only" and experience sk8-life enriching variance for yourself.
30+ years and you've NEVER experienced the superior pinch of a Thunder? or the superior carving of Ace's?
Never locked onto a round rail with a beveled hanger?... You're missing out on SO much.
...so sad.
This is year 32 for me and I can't even imagine not having a personal opinion on the tools of my trade.
Knowledge gained through experience will always be best.
@@kanescrimes4848 I have rode other peoples boards with different trucks and they all seemed too light for my liking. Unfortunately due to arthritis, I can no longer skate. Thank you for looking out.
@@lumptaviousshadows453 Awww, that sucks.
In that case it really IS too late for you then.
That's even sadder.
@@kanescrimes4848 Im sorry you feel that way. But I like what I like.
@@lumptaviousshadows453 You still don't understand.
I'm not being contentious like you're trying to be.
"I have rode other peoples boards with different trucks and they all seemed too light for my liking."
Helpful hint: The shape of a deck can dramatically change the feeling of a truck.
Including how light or heavy it feels.
The degree of variant a different deck shape can create renders the claims of a specific truck(especially a brand) as too heavy or light is simply unwarranted=implies a lack of experience and/or knowledge regarding this topic...which is exactly what motivated my effort in he first place.
You missed out, that sucks, case closed.
Yes Florida local brah.
I want those vans.
Indy axles DEFINITELY slipped for a while.
Like really REALLY bad.
It was either the 6's 7's or 8's, I'm not sure, but i DEFINITELY spent a few years smashing the ends of my axles to try and get a wheel moving again.
7s and 8s for sure. They fixed it by the 9s but yeah indys were notorious for that shit
7's no doubt
I got my first pair of indys and i love them!
Fuckin awesome clip I love that sound trucks on concrete or rail. End that ledge he K. grinded is absolutely absurd
Thats a Massive Hubba not Ledge
aww his dog
that's a really cute dog
Id agree best company tho not just trucks ALL THE PRODUCTS ARE BEST
Everything said about Indys in this video was true, word for word. It's da truff, I bust ya in yo toof.
The main thing that puts me off Indy’s is the slogan
The main thing that puts me off indys is everything. They suck. I would need a minimum of $5000 a month to ride for them
Never clicked on a video so damn fast for real
I always swap the bushings immediately.
What bushings do you use?
Pj Van Den Berg I use Bones bushings on my Indys. They are perfect!
@@milehighac2738 thanks man, I used the bones hard after trying the indy hards. The bones blew out pretty quick with the king pin flush. I've lost hope hahah. I put standard Indy hards back in, break-in begins today. If they fail I'll try the bones Mediums maybe.
That stuff he said about axle-slip is exactly what happened to me while riding Independent Trucks. Both front and back Indy truck had major axle-slippage. It got so bad that I had to bring a little hammer with to tap the axles back into place every time I skated. I could barely even roll as a result of the wheel-pinch (and awful Bronson bearings). The only kingpins I've broken in my 20 years of skating have been Indy's. I've also managed to snap Indy baseplates on spine airs and roof drops. Unfortunately, Indy are easily the worst trucks I've ever ridden.
But they have a cool marketing image.
What truck is ideal for you then
Late reply, but I've been riding Ace for a while now. My last pair was Ace classics, size 44. I went up in board width and am now riding Ace AF1's, size 55. I use the stock Ace bushings and have absolutely zero complaints. They work for me right from the beginning. On Indy I couldn't ride the stock bushings because they took weeks to break in and I ended up breaking Bones bushings just about once a week the last year I was on Indys. Bowls, launch ramps, big drops, and especially curbs are my favorite things to skate. Again, no issues for me on Ace so far and it's been a while.
Such a good video
Krux downlows. Best truck i've ever had. Sorry indy i like smiths and feebs, like a hot knife on butter.
Yeah thats bc you didnt grow up in a time when INDYs where first trucks too HAVE AXEL SLIP
Yeah the stage 7s were awful, and had crazy slip. They've fixed tthat issue though. Stage 11 is pretty great.
The stage 9s were sick asf too
I don’t get slip back in the early 90s they would slip like crazy like the early thunder t4s or whatever they called them
ha yeah lol I will skate Indys for the rest of my life.
1999 is not 2020...
Just curious, which trucks were you riding the first time at staples?
Yeah indys hollows are the best
when did he get on the indys team? and when did he switch from thunders?
Ace
Only way to ride
Top Promo Vid
My indys axel slips all the time
I have that very same board it's a Birdhouse Clive Dixon pro model, and it is not an 8.50" as he says , the actual size of that deck is 8.325" , but 149" are still okay for a 8.325" . Although I use Indy 144" on that setup.
Still havent seen the staples noseblunt
Yes
How tf is this comment possible
@@ztedylan I guess I was at the right place at the right time lol
What size trucks would I need if my deck is a 9.3 and would size 54 or 56 wheels would fit right on it or no?
Probably the independent 215's that's the widest truck they make if I'm correct double check with your local skate shop though always better to visit in person with your board so you can line everything up before you set it up
holy fk that crook at the end
Tell me the next time you go to Marilyn’s middle school I go there
Bro I go to that school ha ha
Indy is in the blood
it's no gemmick or trend
I beg to differ
Andrew Reynolds please!
Titanium hollows? Does that exist?
What did he ride before?
Wondering the same thing
Thunder I think from what I can find
hes riding thunders at staples center, and yes thunders get the most wheel bite by far
looks like thunders, when I paused the clip
TechLurker Unless your riding Lo’s, dumbasses! Titanium Indy’s are actually 1.5mm lower than standard Stage XIs, making the difference a millimeter between Thunder’s and Indy Titanium’s.
1:00
I wanna try the new venture 5.8
I have a pair. I'm starting to like them a lot. The bushings are great and don't really harden up in cold weather.
Pete & Pete same
Ventures are rad but your hardware comes loose constantly. So i guess rads not the word they turn good too
What wheels on your board ?
Ricta Rapido 0:56
mfw hes riding thunders in the last clip.. also fuck the chest, but for real indys are the best
Where Evan Smith?
Bring back the logo
I tried Independent, trucks. They're good, but too heavy for me.
Made in China?
Borgy made the best trucks
Good trucks bushing are too soft
Indy bushings are absolutely terrible! Come on...

What do you recommend as a replacement?
Bones for life!
@@mateoito8266 it's bad that independent has such an Awesome truck, yet the bushings are total shit. I blew a brand new set of hards in half an hour with the nut flush. I'll try bones
Indys are made in china, i only ride Thunders now.
Please don't go to Chinese manufacturing Independent. I will quit using them and tell everyone not to buy them. USA all the way.
